You've perfectly understood that the problem only occurs with Archos Video Player.
With Xplore filemanager I access my NAS using SMB Service by IP address not hostname. (This can't be done in Archos which only permit to access SMB devices by their Hostname)

Workaround : If I disable Blokada, go in Archos Video Player, register my videos folder from my NAS using SMB. Then Scan to add my films & series. It Works. I enable again Blokada and I will be able to Re-scan (if I modify from my NAS to add or remove files)

The above stuff depends on your ROM, if you use the one your manufacturer shipped, it may has other optimisation tools.

Creating your own blacklist can be helpful to prevent the above mentioned download operation, of course. If you generate a file and you keep updating it, after an update refresh it in Blokada manually.

I've done exactly that, I'm building the hosts file on my laptop (I could use my two previous rooted devices and adaway as well to do so),
because I use it there too anyway, so I will be feeding that to blokada (I found out that I have to delete it and add it again every time it changes),
another question can we have tcp dns logging (like in adaway) to grab new sources without root?

It means if the hostname is cached, it works. Can you set Notification enabled in Blokada and try to access the Samba Share from the Archos Video Player? I'm curious if a host is blocked. If it is so, a notification should appear with the blocked hostname.

And did you check if there are other optimisation tools? Because I don't have the same phone that you have, I can't help further if no info provided.

You don't necessary have to delete and re-add again, if I change anything in the file, and I refresh the lists in Blokada, the changes are read up.
How do you mean the TCP DNS logging exactly? I'm not that familiar with AdAway, so I don't know this feature.

are you sure? because I tested with two browsers yesterday and changes weren't reflected,
i.e. I added a site, I opened that site in each browser and it wasn't blocked,
I even restarted blokada's protection and still the site was able to display,
the only way I made it work it to delete the file and re-add it

Yes, I'm sure. Blokada needs some time to reload the new list, but after a few sec it should work. If I add the new entries to the list, I refresh the lists in Blokada (don't forget this), I can see the number of blocked hosts increased and the site I add is blocked. Except if they are communicating over https, some of them cannot be blocked.

I see. Currently it's not implemented, you can use the Net Monitor app from F-Droid to figure out the hosts, but unfortunately you can't block them (only whitelist them, if Notification is enabled).

Which ads are blocked? And which not? Are those that aren't blocked called with https?

Sorry for the late answer. I've tried but unfortunately can't see notifications with Android TV on my Mibox.

I've tried too with Android nougat on my phone and notifications are ok but it doesn't show what is blocked with this app.

Oh yes, sorry, I didn't have the info you are using AndroidTV. Well, to be honest it's possible some feature doesn't work on ATV, we didn't test it and the TVs will be in focus in an upcoming version.

Turn on Notification, check which hosts are blocked and you can whitelist them to be able to sync your Google account.

I mean an app shows ads, how can we find which hosts to block?
(netmonitor which was suggested doesn't do dns logging)

Just for clarification, what do you mean by "DNS logging"? In my read, it is done on the DNS server's side. And for what would you use the DNS requests and answers? I mean, why do you need it?
