After OTA update, Gapps and Magisk did not survive. I tried to re-install Gapps and Magisk from Abhishek's recovery. Magisk came back. But Gapps were still crashing.

Then I formatted my phone with recovery and did a clean install as per OP guide. Everything seems to be fine now.

For every OTA, I need my laptop to get things working. OTA update is always a failed state of affairs with this ROM.
For gapps to survive you need to use mind the gapps, works great for me, I believe Abhishek's opengapps (in op I think) also works.
Magisk doesn't currently work, but use the betas and you'll get it when it comes out, it would be nice if Abhishek could try to fix magisk's add-on.d like he did with opengapps, because currently this is the thing stopping me from updating while on the go.

I think some people flashed the su add-on after update though, and then installed magisk from magisk manager, so you could try this, then you don't need a compiler every update.

Any news regarding an update-surviving TWRP?
I don't think it's possible, but you could try building los yourself with twrp built in, and set up a computer to run an ota server on your network.

Lineage's addonsu didn't survive latest OTA, can anybody confirm?
Can't be flashed via Lineage recovery either, have to use TWRP for it.

Hello. I've installed latest microg build (no gapps) with op's TWRP and I've experienced following issues:

During wiping process I saw could not unmount/mount media volume (I use microSD card) and I think it was used (on stock) for system...
It installed successfully nevertheless but when I booted up it automatically detected my local language and system froze. I had to press 10s power button to reset. This was yesterday. Today It also happened. Display off and everything unresponsive. I had to press power button for 10s to reboot.

Before install my phone was encrypted (I cannot use unencryped phone....) Also I was using fingerprint. Not sure if this is the reason for random freezes?

Also I followed official lineage wiki guide. What guide should I follow in order to not experience these random freezes?

EDIT: I just found out my phone is not encrypted and I can't actually encrypt it? I tap encrypt when I see for a second droid but then after a few seconds lineageos icon and I am back in system? Anyone experiencing this?

Why I can't encrypt my phone? During install process I just booted OP's twrp version. Do I have to actually flash it after lineageos installation in order to be able to encrypt phone?

Hey I have problem installing LOS
I do all needed wipes and want to copy LOS.zip via MTP but nothing is happening, copying files don't work, and my internal storage size shows "Unknown"

Edit. I restarted to TWRP and now it works :p

Did you use Mindthegapps - only they can survive OTA update. Magisk must be reflashed after every OTA.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8 (oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
