Don't know if you've read my post above regarding my installing DeluxeROM v9.1 then install Detonator TMO to get T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE, of which the latter failed. I fixed that this morning, because TWRP reported during Detonator flashing that it was a corrupt file. I went back and removed Detonator from internal storage, then pasted the same version back from my W10 Downloads directory. This time it worked, and I am now running v9.1 and have T-Mo features.
Here's a question to you and others. I want to install Magisk and I notice I have the following two files in my Note 8 internal storage:
MagiskManager-v6.0.0(147)
MagiskHide_Props_Config-v2.4.1-v29
I also notice you recommend Magisk 17.1 above. I know that v.6.0.0 is the latest Magisk Manager, but what about MagiskHide_Props_Config-v2.4.1-v29? Why does it have such an oddball name when your recommendation, Magisk 17.1, is more in line with earlier names?
Hi mate.
Yes, I read your post above and decided to stay away from DETONATOR atm because I already have Wifi-calling and VoLTE running (Im not sure if VoLTE works properly, though as I don't see the icon in statusbar but it is highlighted in quicksettings).
Regarding Magisk. You can find Magisk 17.1 in the official Magisk thread here
https://xdaforums.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Just grab the latest stable version (17.1) and flash it in twrp ... Dont forget to grab latest Magisk Manager (6.0) from the link too. Then boot the phone and go and find Magisk Manager in your app drawer ... check if you have proper root and busybox with ie. Rootchecker or similar ... and there you go - you've rooted the Magisk way, buddy.
Regarding this one "MagiskHide_Props_Config-v2.4.1-v29" I don't now what that is ... probably some modded "addon" that will make Magisk Hide work - but no need to use that as Magisk Hide works out of the box with the above mentioned. I would ignore it as I never used it and heard of it ...
Good luck, mate :good::good::good:

Howdy Partna,
A good way to check VoLTE functionality is to call someone and talk to them. Put your phone on speaker while doing it. Then open up an internet intensive app, like looking for places on GMaps. If your phone can surf and use the internet while you're talking to someone on LTE, then you have VoLTE working. Also, you'll find voice quality on VoLTE much better than without it. I'm not sure I trust the VoLTE icon, as I've seen have it there statically.
I quickly found Magisk 17.1 from another posting above and downloaded it to my Note 8 Downloads folder. I also downloaded MagiskManager-v6.0.0.apk, although it was already in my Downloads folder. If you recall, I failed my first v9.1 install because of a corrupt Detonator .zip file. I'm not sure how it got corrupted, but I decided not to take any chances.
I now have Magisk working on my phone, which is now rooted and passing SafetyNet. What's weird is I have app Root Checker Pro (purchased) on my machine. It detects the phone Rooted but it says SafetyNet failed per the following reason:
SafetyNetApi.AttestationResult success == false or empty payload)
I don't understand why Root Checker Pro fails SafetyNet but MagiskManager says it's okay. What really matters is whether Android Pay says it's okay, but I'd like to understand the Safety Net Request above.
I think MagiskHide_Props_Config-v2.4.1-v29 was a file used in the interim, because I know that Magisk was broken for the Note 8 a while back, and someone came up with a quick fix. This quick fix was available in someone's thread and not the Magisk official site. I'm glad we're back to regular Magisk names and version numbers.
Note to others trying DeluxeROM v9.1: I just tested Bluetooth on my phone headset, and it pairs and works just fine.
