Instructions:

1. Root.
2. Backup original SystemUI.apk
3. Copy this modified SystemUI to /system/priv-app/

Download Modified SystemUI.apk

These sorts of mods really benefit from vrtheme zips. If you've not read up on them, would be worth doing because it brings a whole new level of compatability

Hi, this is OP. Since you already want to modify the framework why not try Xposed?
You may afterwards use GravityBox and enjoy all its goodies.
