Noob here,

I have the ViewSonic gtablet and I was trying to install VEGANn from here
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1031250

This wasn't working so I reset the gtablet to factory settings and it is now stuck at
"Booting recovery kernel image".

I wanted to try NVFlash found at http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=861950
but this part is a problem:
The NVFlash setup process begins with a visit to:

http://db.tt/Wm25t7U

(Note: Sometime this DropBox is cranky. If you have trouble with it, check back later.)

Linux users: You want to get "nvflash_linux_2010110500.tar.gz" and "nvflash_gtablet_2010110500.zip "

These files are not recognized as valid archives.
I use Linux Mint 9, a derivative of Ubuntu 10.04

Thanks,

Kelley

I have also tried installing CWM 0.8 with cwmod_microsd.zip installed on a 16GB microsd card but it doesn't recognize that flash card when I put it in.

If you're still struggling with the files not being recognized as proper archives then try downloading them again, check your archive manager or use a different Linux distro. I use Ubuntu and they work just fine for me.

Hi Kelley,

I have similar problem with my G-tab after a factory reset. I wonder if you have found any solution to get the G-tab out of this dead mode?

Thanks,
Thomas

First post - fix worked for me

I'm a noob too, and I also had this same problem on my 1.2.4349.

I followed the nvflash instructions here: www (dot) slatedroid (dot) com/topic/17150-recovery-nvflash-full-restore-using-either-11-or-12-based-images-g-tablet/
(sorry i can't make a real link until I have 8 posts)

and it fixed my tablet back with stock.

Hope this helps you too.

I thought I'd dig out my gtablet again and have another go at this.
I downloaded the files in dropbox as instructed and I am still getting the message that they are either corrupted or invalid.

Linux Mint 11:
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

Windows XP:
The Compresses (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted.

I think I'll find and try it on a Windows 7 PC.
