This is just a very basic stock ROM. I deodexed the ICL53F Google system image (Android 4.0.2) rooted it and installed busybox. I saw that no such stock ROM was available and decided to share mine.

Features
  • Stock 4.0.2 ICL53F
  • Deodexed Framework and System Apps
  • All APKs Zipaligned
  • Latest Superuser and su
  • Busybox Installed
  • Insecure boot image (adb remount privileges)

Requirements
  • GSM Galaxy Nexus
  • Clockwork Recovery

Screenshot
Screenshot_2011-12-15-19-26-05.png

Instructions
  • No need to wipe data coming from any stock or MCR ROM
  • Boot into Clockwork, make a backup (highly suggested)
  • Wipe dalvik and cache
  • Flash ROM
  • Reboot
  • Profit!

Some things to watch out for
  • The first boot will take a few minutes
  • Facebook app doesn't display text...no idea why. Looking into it.

Softkeys Mod (credit to Paul O'Brien, I learned from his SystemUI.apk to make mine ;-)

Must be on a deodexed ROM to install! Install after initial boot!

Search button, hidden menu buttons on both sides (exposed when apps call for them)

Thanks for this! I was trying to deodex this myself with the latest from dsixda but just kept getting errors during the deodex.

From stock, just flash cwm, then flash the rom. Just to be sure, root is not needed, right?

edit: yep, no need for root access before flashing cwm, fastboot FTW

I just realised mine no longer has root? :(

I assume I just superboot it again?

Does the SuperUser app just force close for you? If so, mine did that initially. Re-downloading/updating SU via the market sorted out any errors.

(Note, I only tried opening the SuperUser app itself - which FC'd, didn't try any other app which needs root)

It's for LTE version ?

GSM only, as written in requirements.

Yeah, that can happen if your superuser data is from a different version. Clearing the app data fixes it. You'll just need to allow root for your apps again.

bootloop after flashing, any ideas?

coming from rooted stock rom..

Boot loop as in stuck at Google or the animation? Can you adb logcat to see the issue?

Did you check the md5 of the file on your device before flashing it?

Hopefully you made a nandroid.

Yeah made a nandroid, no problem :)

Stuck in the animation, after the google screen.

Sorry no logcat. I didn't check the md5 sum..

But I don't think the checksum is wrong, a member I know from another forum, had the same issue..

EDIT:

Did a full wipe (not only cache &. dalvik cache), now it's working :)

Thanks so much for this ROM. The lack of the volume update was nagging on my anal-retentive nature.

Wiped cache, and dalvik and flashed with no problems. Didn't even have to clear SuperUser data. It worked right away.

Thanks for this :) Just got my Galaxy Nexus last night after work, and got this flashed before I even started to use it! Goes well with the circle battery mod elsewhere on the forum!

Saved me a few hours messing anyway (was going to do this myself) but will also serve well for me to get used to ICS before I start building my own AOSP ROM :)

Went from stock rooted to this just by wiping cache + dalvik. Is there any chance you could add an insecure boot image? That would be perfect, i want my phone completely stock but need root through adb :)

Let me know how it works, I will add to OP if the results are good. I've been testing it with no issues.

On monday, I switched from galaxy s to galaxy nexus, so please pardon my lack of knowledge about this device

Anyway, the more recent gingerbread firmwares for the sgs did not work that well when being deodexed. It resulted in overall performance decrease and a particularly laggy stock browser...

Does deodexing an ics rom pay off in the long run?

I went from stock odexed to stock deodexed and didnt really notice anything related to performance, always fast.

You really need to be deodexed if you want to try out all the mods floating around XDA, 99% of them wont work on an odexed rom :)

I am on ITL41F rooted and i think its okay if i flash now via CWM the 53F File and the mod over this right?
    yes, that would be fine.
