Someone allready asked for the bell version and i have retail ME860 4.5.2a. Would i risk bricking if I try to run this ?

Attempting to use this now. Read the instructions and got up to the part where I select the firmware version. My phone is at 2.3.6 which isn't presented. I plan on installing cm7 afterwards, but don't want to risk soft or hard bricking my phone tonight since I don't know what I'm doing with this version. Any help would be appreciated from someone who got it to work.

Thanks OP, for putting this together. I first tried it using XP running in VirtualBox, but it didn't work (RSD Lite would fail with errors in the first step itself), so I then tried it with Windows XP running on a desktop and it worked just fine (with 4.5.141), except one error message that I am not sure is fine. I basically saw this after it said it was flashing a hotspot fix:

rm: can't remove '/system/etc/install_recovery.sh': No such file or directory

Can this be ignored?

Hey I have used this method over 12 times to unlock bootloader for tons of my friends...

I recently got my hands on a free Atrix and did as always, ran the script, got the failed to boot error, ran the fix BUT this time after I run the fix I get <waiting for device> on cmd....

This has never happened before and I am wondering what happened? I can still get into fastboot so I'm hoping I can still get this device recovered... Any help would be great!

my phone wont get detected

i did the unlockbootloader for the first time when i try applying the fix my phone doest get detected it just says waiting for device n stays like that .am running 2.3.6

i clicked on the running 2.3.4 when it said what type i was runnning the page did say it worked with 2.3.6

Are you sure you installed the Motorola drivers for your phone?

that SBF is for the ATT Atrix 4G, i doubt it will work on your device. what are you intending to accomplish?

Hey all, another beginner here... To the script AND smartphones in general haha.

I was given an Atrix v1.83 as a gift from my dad since my phone died. I'm on a different provider so I needed the sim unlock pin. I was told about this script so I ran it.

Everything worked fine and I now have the unlocked screen during boot.

It's boots up OK but still asks for the Sim unlock PIN when it full boots.

Did I misunderstand the purpose of this script? Maybe unlocking the bootloader provides different functionality than I was expecting?

Yes, completely

Unlocking bootloader is for flashing custom rom. Careful! Don't try to downgrade or upgrade your phone with SBF or OTA with unlocked bootloader. You're going to permanently brick your phone.

Is it still in an OK state to try buying one of the sim unlock codes?

Is it possible to just flash this thing back to stock in case I give up and just go buy a phone?

Worked for: BL Unlocked/rooted 4.5.91 -> OTA 4.5.141 -> BL Locked/rooted 4.5.141

Program Successfully "Re"-Unlocked BL After OTA AT&T 4.5.141 Update

Thanks to the OP for the program, and some verifying (if cryptic) replies from Harrison85 and others that pushed me to try this, even though it doesn't list 4.5.141 as an option.

Situation:

I had previously unlocked my bootloader and was running rooted 4.5.91 (AT&T). In this state, I went ahead and did AT&T's OTA update to 4.5.141 (before reading up on the difficulties people ran into doing just that...shomizu9 you idiot!

).

After running the OTA update, I noticed the "Unlocked" was gone from my Motorola boot screen...uh oh! Rooting 4.5.141 was easy (several methods outlined around the intarwebz), but it was after the Unlocked was gone that I started reading harder and discovered the troublesome threads.

Luckily, this automatic unlocker still works! (I can only speak to anyone who's done what I did above to their phone!)

Do everything just as outlined in the OP's first post - when you get to the choice of AT&T software version, don't freak out that 4.5.141 isn't listed, just hold steady and pick (3) 2.3.4/4.5.91, and finish everything out. It worked for me without a hitch.

i am using windows 7 64bit. when i run main.bat and choose options, nothing happens.
i have 4.5.91 and 2.3.4. i select #3 but nothing happens. i am running in compatibility mode for xp sp2 and run as administrator. what am i missing ? is the script for windows 7 something extra that i have to add?
