how many mms services are installed?
i have two, handcent and stock. had to turn one of them off in the notifications settings

+1. Go into the menu settings of the one you don't want to use and turn off the notifications for that app. Don't freeze or uninstall default messaging app because it will screw up your messaging...at least from what I've read that's what happens.

Just posting a screen of my MikZ. Only real mods are the camera fix and the rEVOlution skin to get the semi-trans bar and rosie. Shown with Clockr Evolution text clock and nosferatu font pack. I like the speed, but not so diff from mik4.5 on my device. Smooth operation with both ziggy 012111 cfs and nets 4.3.2 cfs universal. Fun daily driver for me (no 4g here) until mik4.6 final drops. Thanks again to Aamikam and jdloach for the long, productive, sleepless nights.

I really want to love this rom, but some nagging problems..
Market sometimes wont download things; yes, I cleared cache and data, rebooted, fixed permissions, but still a problem
Apps seem to just "disappear"; I install them, and after a few reboots, they are gone..

sometimes its fast as hell; other times, it slows to a crawl.
using netarchy 4.3.2, which worked great on other sense roms for me..

wondering if I should try mik 4.6 beta instead...
thanks to anyone who has any ideas about this stuff.

No spare parts, saenz

Thanks. Clock is clockr evolution app in the market.

You can also check out minimalistic Text in the market, by Devmil. I've been supporting this one for a while. It's awesome. It's based off of clockr, but there are much much more options. Devmil is an awesome dev and he's constantly incorporating ideas from the community. Check it out

Hey knightwolf123, you might find that your battery life will improve alittle bit if you don't use setcpu. I haven't used it in awhile cause alot of the new kernels already have alot of the features that setcpu provided already built in.

oh yeah i forgot that part sorry.....

setcpu 833-245 smartass
screen off 422-245 smartass
not using ANY battery low settings at this time

Use root explorer and go to /cache and delete any download.apk you see in there.

will I lose any of my apps if I do that, or, just have to re-download/install them?

thanks

No you won't lose anything or have to do anything with your apps. I think it's just like a temp file or something. Mitchellvii is the one that found it and figured it out.

However the only app I have been able to see it with is root explorer

I haven't used that app for awhile now and on my images you can see my battery life on this rom. Now that deleting that app won't increase battery like that cause everyones battery life is different but on this rom I have gotten the best battery life ever and my quad scores are always over 1100 and on speedtest.net the score for download is 568Kbps d/l and 732Kbps upload.

I'll try that tomorrow at work. (crossing fingers and hoping he's correct)

Do you O/C your cpu? I have paid version of setcpu and that's really all I did was O/C and have screen off profile.

I know you can O/C with OS monitor but I guess to get the set cpu on boot you have to pay for it?

I only have the default app. I installed Handcent last night, but I uninstalled it today once I noticed the double notifications, even though I had them turned off in the default app. But now I am still getting the double notifications. One shows the message, like normal. The other notification says "New Message from 865-555-1234 (or whatever number texts me)

Interesting, so are you saying from your research this morning, you have found that Dalvik-Cache is something that arises out of using de-odexed ROMs, and not something that would exist in an odex version of the same ROM? I could see this I guess, since once we rooted our phones and started playing with flashable roms, they were all de-odexed and hense I got used to seeing dalvik-cache on all of them.

Well, I still don't have a full grasp on it yet. I talked with mik and he answered some questions. I did a little googling too. Stock roms come odexed as far as the system and frameworks go. The odex files are short for optimized dalvik executables. They tell the system what to do. In a deodexed rom, the dalvik virtual machine has to pull/decompile (looking for correct wording) the classes.dex from within each apk at boot up, thus long boot up times. With odex, it cones precompiled and thus need not decompile. The dalvik still exists even in stock roms. It is an android thing. So market apps and data appa still use it. Deodexing just allowed the system and framework files to utilize the dalvik and make theming easier because the apks are more or less all inclusive since the classes.dex are within the apk. So jeff, that is what I gathered. Our mik is changing the game.

Edit: also, the odex files are more device specific and not as easily toyed with. Thats why most devs have used deodexed from the old days. Mik said that the new devices are different. We can do more with them now then we could then. Its time to invent some new creative ways of doing things instead of utilizing the same old tricks over and over. I see it like that.
