While it's quite possible the hardware may well support more than 2 points of multitouch I'm afraid the drivers only support 2. It may be something that we can look into at a later date. Not that I ever use more than 2 really :)

No worries! You guys are doing great work. This was just a minor curiosity. The only thing I'd really like it for is a piano app (tough they're are some games/visualizers that are cool with more touch points). First things first!

It may have been asked already and I didn't see it, but I presume with this being built from the cm source, it is based on what would be the newest nightly?

sorry if this is a noob question but once we flash this cm7 ROM, will we be able to have access to the nooks entire memory for whatever we may want to use it for?

EDIT: thanks Celtic, you da Mannnn! :)

If you are taking suggestions, one thing I would like to see is the ability to undervolt / overclock. I have a touchpad running CM9 as well, and it gets way better battery life than the nook tablet.

show-p1984 created a custom kernel for cm9 on the touchpad that lets you undervolt and overclock the processor. As a bonus, it can idle one cpu until it is needed....

So far from what I can see, the sod is a kernel panic from brightness. I'm trying to work on it but haven't been home all day. :|

I imagine the screen off SOD and the brightness control not working are related. When you turn off the screen, it usually doesn't simply turn off, but it quickly turns down brightness before turning off the screen. There may be a way to disable the screen dim "animation" while the screen turns off.

I also came across this information that worked for the Touchpad. Might be worth taking a look at:

Good input. We currently can push any clock speed we want but have not overclocked the kernel out of the gate. That will come at some point during Alpha (which should start soon).

As of right now we have the CPUs running frequency managers and are able to hot-mount processors (turn them on and off as needed to save juice). We will leave the battery life testing to all of you and tweak from there ;)

If the brightness control has a /dev entry or something have you tried just creating a null device? That might work around it in the short term while we try to find the real solution.

For pretty much all of the last 24 hours Goncezilla and I have been buried in getting this rom to work. Well all our recent long days and night of endless hours have finally paid Off.

It's our pleasure to inform everyone that we have fixed everything in the original thread and now been sorted and we have now have what seems to be a stable and fully functional CM7 build for the Nook tablet.

We're going to do a little bit more testing for a bit then we'll put together a release :)

Goncezilla and I would like to say thank you to everybody that offered support and advice. Even if we didn't use your advice it was still very much appreciated that you offered it!

How did you solve the SoD?

Yep we fixed SoD, mic, screen brightness, mounting of partitions. You name it. We might go straight to beta.

Anyway we have some work todo, write-ups on what we have, how we did it and how you can get the beta. Also have to build all the packages. Should have something up soon so keep checking in!

Yes we're building things up but please remember we're tetsing as we go so it may take some time :)

We have been discussing in another thread the possibility of getting a CM7 rom available for the NT.

Now that we have a functional recovery this should seriously help out with testing, if it goes wrong we can just restore to a working rom and start again debuging as we go.

    ***UPDATED 5TH Feb 2012***

I thought it was about time I updated this post with some up to date info on current state of development.

As many of you will know we got together last week and decided that we would like to build a CM7 rom for the Nook Tablet.

Goncezilla had already been making progress building firmware and a boot.img to get the thing booting up. Initially the system booted and you couldn't do a lot with it, but it prooved it could be done. Here's the vid showing the first boot:

After that it was down to work to make it useable. After a bit of investigation and a lot of man hours this is where we are at now

    HARDWARE FUNCTIONS
    Touchscreen FULLY WORKING
    Orientation sensors FUNCTIONAL
    Sound WORKING
    SDCard WORKNING
    WIFI Fully WORKING
    Hardware video acceleration WORKING

    SOFTWARE
    Custom Kernel BUILT AND FUNCTIONING
Full tablet version on Cyanogen Mod WORKING
    Root Access WORKING
    Gapps WORKING
    Sleep mode WORKING
    Brightness control WORKING
BOOT FROM SD CARD SOLUTION AVAILABLE

and the one everyone seems to think is important
Angry Birds YES IT WORKS PERFECTLY lol

Another little video of current progress

    Finally we have wifi working!

Sorry it's sideways, it's changing it now but it seems Google have slow computers!

So the main things we have left to fix are

    1. Ermm... hmm... I'm sure we'll think of something :)

Thanks to Celtic for taking on the OP of this forum!

EDIT 2/5/2012Here are the source files used to create the first CM7 beta:
    Internal
    1. Kernel built from source - http://www.mediafire.com/?tu5lm7q8t5pbqpf
    2. Nook Color CM7 Ramdisk (the one we want to modify) - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?epv9n97evhnuaoi
    3. Stock Nook Tablet Ramdisk (the one we need to borrow from) - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?xms3aeztgupkjco
    4. Buawk's Internal Boot.img 2ndboot (this gets appended to the front of a boot.img to get around the locked bootloader) - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?9l8uxx7rhbqzund
    5. Modified CM7 /system partition files (should be good to go for NT) - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?il5ky2l51q48e8h
    6. Modified Ramdisk - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?9l8uxx7rhbqzund
    7. Wifi Driver files (built from Kindle Fire source) - http://www.mediafire.com/?vogxuygrf84xsoe
    8. Kernel Config File (settings used to build kernel above) - http://www.mediafire.com/?7vjvqctmlnd4enw
    9. GFX Drivers (put in /system/lib/modules and insmod) - http://www.mediafire.com/?5uw4wgytb60n485

    SDCard
    1. SDRamdisk - http://www.mediafire.com/?4p3wq0u4p9j9mtd
All other files are same as internal.

    EDIT 2/4/2012
    My Plan for success:
    1. Build a boot.img from CM7 NookColor Rom - Done!
    3. Get a booting rom working from SDcard to verify steps 1 and 2 - Done! SDcard working great!
    4. Port to internal boot partition (CWM) -Done!
    5. Tweak to get everything working - Ongoing....

    All other ideas welcome here!

Here's a quick question for people.

To speed things up a little I could forgo makig an update.zip and literally just upload an archive which you unarchive into your sdcard /clockworkmod/backup folder and restore as if you'd backed up yourself. much quicker and easier for us and you get your rom that little bit quicker.

    What does everyone think ?

I can't make this post a question because it's half way through a thread but I'd prefer not to have a stream of yes or no answers posts either, so maybe click thanks or something if you'd be happy for me to do that so you get your rom faster?

Well it's now 8:27am in the UK and it's time for me to try and grab an hour or two of sleep.

Once again Goncezilla and I have been working hard all night and we've got a heck of a lot done. Some excellent results. A few more little things and you'll be having a new rom for your Nook Tablets ;)

See you later everyone, I'm off to bed!
