Diamond radio thread

Please read all the red stuff... That answers 98% of your questions...

HARD-SPL

Remember always to flash Hard-SPL. If you haven't, then don't flash any of these radios.

- Download and extract the Custom RUU (Rom Updater Utility) in a empty folder on your pc
- Download and extract the radio file (.nbh) in the same directory as the RUU
- Start the RUU and follow the procedure.

Still not sure how to do it? Look Here and Here.

Normally you wont lose any data on your phone, when updating your radio, but make a backup, to be safe... Then you can't blame me. :)

The most popular radios differs from time to time. Just remember a higher version number isn't always better.

What radio should you use? - Read this thread, and try some of the radios out. There is no answer to what is the best, it all depends on where you live and how you use your phone.

Important before you flash... Be care full. If you **** up you might brick your phone...

Frequently Asked Questions:

Read the first 4 posts... Seriously... It's all here! (Especially the red part)

Q: My phone won't flash/flash error etc.
A: Remember to do a HardSPL. If you tried to flash a radio from "other devices" thread, then do a security unlock. - A security unlock is not the same as a SIM-unlock, CID-unlock or HardSPL. Please read post #3 as it describes it pretty good.

Q: My GPS won't connect/can't find satellites etc.
A: Download HTC GPSTool. HERE
. Connect and chose to do a "Cold Start". This usually fixes th problem.

These are original Htc Diamond radios

You should be able to flash these if just you have flashed the Hard-SPL. (If you don't know what "Hard-SPL" is, then read post 1)

Radios in this end, is the newest.

Repacked radios from other devices

You can't flash these unless you are security unlocked!!!

Radios below can't be flashed unless your phone is security unlocked. This can be done with olinex unlocker. You can tell if your Diamond is security Unlocked by entering bootloader (hold Volume down, while reset). Once there, you will see "Security Unlocked" in the top center of bootloader. You can get a free security-unlocker if you PM cmonex (NOT containing sim-unlock). Until you have security unlocked your phone, you can't flash these radios.
You don't have to be CID unlocked.

General info about the security lock.

The (SU) marked radioes comes from other devices, and has written somewhere in the code that the specifik radiodriver is for that specific device. - Just like the diamond radios "just" is for our diamonds. - The phone-bootloader checks this string/info, and is unable to flash it, if the radio is from an eg. "Raphael"...

BUT...

Some of these new devices has the same hardware regarding the radio, which means you will be able to use that radio even though it were meant to be used on another device. - It is here the security unlock comes into place, as this removes the device check, and you can flash any radio you want, from any device you want.

BUT...

This also makes it possible to flash, like say a nokia 3310 firmware on your phone, even though you would brick it. HARD!

So when flashing, always make sure that your software is from the diamond thread, and also if possible, wait to see what other people have written about the radio, as you will then be sure it wont brick your device.

I hope this charifies what the Security unlock do.

Your phone has to be SECURITY UNLOCKED (WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS SIM-UNLOCKED!!!)

How to write good radio feedback

Please try to use this "form" when writing feedback about a radio:

* Radio version:
* With ROM:
* Country/Location/Network:
* Battery life:
* GPS:
* GPRS/3G/EDGE/HSDPA:
* WiFi signal:
* General comments:

BattLog enables you to monitor you battery usage. If we all use the same program, then we get the most usable feedback.

FieldTest enables you to monitor the signal strength. Important is the RSSI1 value (at the bottom). the higher the better, i.e. -70 is much better than -90. [Can also be accessed by pressing: *#*#364#*#* on the numpad]

Please DON'T write feedback before you have used the radio a few days. This gives a more accurate result. Also feedback like "it sucks" isn't usable for any of us.

If appreciate my work keeping this thread updated, then please donate a few dollars for my time.

Radio v1.10.25.25 Blackstone.

Alright let me pop this threads cherry the sweet way using the FORM:

* With ROM: Swtos v2.5 & udks ROMs various tweaks applied.
* Country/Location/Network: Chile/Santiago/Entel PCS
* Battery life: +/-50 Hours normal use. Yap some minutes and about 3-5 sms. Check email manually once. Turn off at night 11pm-6am.
* GPS: Fix in 10 seconds on latest googlemaps prior Quick GPS Download.
* GPRS/3G/EDGE/HSDPA: EDGE normal to good signal.
* WiFi signal: Same as the rest, maybe a little cooler on the ass(temp) than other radios.
* General comments: Best Radio I have tried in a while. Highly recommended. Very good with the batts. But its not so strong on the reception\voice clarity side.

PS: Thanks to thread starter for his hard work, you rule dude:)

Are your device security unlocked?

Btw. didn't take long before this was asked. ;-) What else can I do to clarify this around the SU-radioes? Any sudgestions?
Use huge letters like member Dynomite232 suggested^^.
Dammmm what do people just go directly to download the radio and thats it?
1.10.25.25 can not be installed. the device indicated 'error' in the end of process.
Dude good way to start;) You are a champ!

And arnt we just supposed to input our experiences on the "form" way?
ps: ill edit this post to comply with rules if its necessary.

Just came back to have a look-see at the voting polls. These recent votes are interesting to see as they unfold with some of the newer radios showcasing their power in choice.

Rationale for Radio Choice:
• most go with what they feel is better (subjective testing)
• some chefs provide their preference to accompany rom
• some folks select the latest version
• some use field testing

Either way, too difficult to tell why a particular radio is better or not due to all these variables (type of user, location, etc.) as I mentioned in previous post. What is popular to one person can be unacceptable to another. Especially if most voters are selecting a radio based on feelings

And (SU) Security Unlocked Radios I believe will for the most part not represent true voting potential due to the (SU) restriction.
