Re: [KERNEL][TW][2-18-13]PeanutButta Jelly

You could still have reboots if you're not looking at your phone it could still be happening and you would not know it

I track my phone usage with GSam Battery Monitor ... I've used the app since my Nexus.. Always keep track of uptime and battery.. Along with Android system info.. No reboots here without me knowing it..

Agreed. Better battery stats resets if your phone restarts so I DO know if I get a random reboot

I forgot about better battery.. Like that app.. Time to download. Haha

Hopefully everyone can get the kernel working right for them.. It's solid IMO.. I've not worried or looked to flash anything else since..

Re: [KERNEL][TW][2-18-13]PeanutButta Jelly

I'm not sure if anyone else is getting better battery results, but this is after starting the day on saber kernel, then flashing pbj a few hours into the day, and now I'm back on saber.

Re: [KERNEL][TW][2-18-13]PeanutButta Jelly

It's a soft reboot, uptime doesn't reset.

Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium

You can still figure out if it did it. End of story. Other kernels have soft booted without me looking and I have discovered it. I'm quite confident about this.

I've been using this kernel since it came out I've had no reboots you guys having reboot issue check elsewhere I'd look for something that's not compatible. Dont think its a bug issue

I got hot boots on the stock kernel, and they aren't any more frequent in my personal usage using my own kernel. I still have yet to track down WTF causes it though. I think I know based on the few logs I've gotten, but it always happens when doing something different. Still not sure why exFAT isn't working either.

Getting a boot loop on beans 9. Did wipe cache and dalvik.

Update: same boot loop when installing on ported tweaks rom for Verizon.

I looked at it, and it was an app that was installed causing a FC from what I remember, but it didn't look like a stock app. I'm guessing you got it figured out though. Sorry for the delayed response.

Really wish we could get extFat support with this kernel...

You and me both. I don't have an exFAT card, but the fact that it isn't working for me when the same thing works for someone else is really annoying.

Imnuts, any possibility you could make a version of this for AOSP? There aren't really any great AOSP options currently and I really like your ideas behind this one. Please!

Yeah, give me a little bit and I'll put together an AOSP/CM version as well then. May be a few days, but I'll get to it then.

Has anybody noticed any improvement of sound with VooDoo sound? Ran it for a test drive yesterday and did not notice any difference. But maybe I am just not an audiophile.

I noticed it some, but it really isn't significant. I get less static when listening to music via AUX in to my car stereo. The adapter I use gets distortion if I have the headphone volume at max, and there is less distortion with Voodoo Sound, but it is still present. I'm guessing the issue is that the adapter I'm using can't handle the output levels from the phone. YMMV with it, but odds are, there isn't going to be much noticeable difference unless you are putting it through really expensive equipment or a sound analyzer.

Here is a custom kernel based on the latest GT-N7100 sources for the Note 2. I've taken a lot of stuff out, so if you like playing around with changing 500 things on the kernel before you start using your phone, look somewhere else. It pulls in Beoffla Sound and Simple IO Scheduler and removes as much debugging stuff as possible, non-default CPU and IO schedulers, and Ext2 Support (Ext4 handles Ext2/3). I've also gotten rid of recovery over-write on boot and enabled adb root by default.

There is no overclocking support, overclocking is useless unless you're pumping up your e-peen. There is no undervolting support as it hasn't been shown to do anything useful on multi-core systems from everything I've seen. There is no init.d support as 90% of the init.d scripts are useless. It will continue using stock boot animations as well, though I'm sure it wouldn't be to difficult to make stock android boot animations work. That may even be possible without any kernel changes anyway.

The only issue I've run into is that exFAT SDcards may not work with it. I've been trying to figure out why, but it is slow going when I don't have an exFAT card to test with. If anyone would like to help fix it, flash and get me full dmesg and logcats. If you don't know how to get those, but still want to help, see my SDK Guide for a general overview of what to do.

This kernel is built for TouchWiz ROMs, and should work on any available VZW ROM currently available. It works for VRALJB, VRALL4, and VRAMC3 from my own testing, let me know if you have issues on a TW ROM and I may be able to fix it. For a download, see below. I also am not posting in original development because IMO, that entire forum is useless and confusing.

I get a "Status 7" error when trying to install, WTF?
Update your recovery. TWRP that is flashed via the unlock method does not process asserts properly (it was compiled for a different Note 2 model). This is meant to keep people from flashing this to the wrong device.

My exFAT SDcard isn't working :(
See the OP, I need info to get exFAT to work properly. Until then, format your SDCard to FAT32

    Where are all the options?
You can't read, I already said there are none. This is flash and forget it.

This is the best thing since sliced bread, can I make it rain?
Click the DONATE TO ME button to the left, or click here, it's appreciated, but not expected. Clicking thanks on the posts also works.

This thing is worse than Tub Girl, how do I go back to what I had before?
Just reflash your old kernel. If you were on stock before, I've posted the stock kernels at the end of this post.

    I'm having a problem, FIX IT NAO!!!1!
Send me both the output from dmesg and logcat as well as details of what you do when you see the problem. Otherwise, the source is linked to below, fix it yourself.

Can we get XYZ feature added?

looks pretty good would u mind if i modify the ramdisk and add init.d/bootanim support and have it as an option in my rom?

    Go for it

New build up. I believe it may fix the issues people see after extended periods of up-time, but it's kind of hard to test that in a couple minutes.
