just tested this as well. turned off the phone and plugged in the charger. the icon appeared for a second, but when i went to check the charge, the device rebooted. after the reboot, i had lost all network service and signal, as well as touch screen funtion.
did a hard reboot and everything was fixed.
T989 on CM7_373R2
Yes a Full wipe will be required, but it wont matter because I'll be including darky's wipe with the next release to help resolve random issue's that people have as well.
When you checked the charge did you hit the power button? Try the volume buttons next time, that works for me (if all you want to do is check battery level)

Looking For Boot splash img if you get time.... Must be a CM7 Splash of some sorts!
I should be posting the update around nap time
If I don't find 1 in that time, I'll use a stock CM img for the boot splash.

Nap time.....Ok, so I'm guessing Nap Time is either 1pm or 2pm your time, so that puts it 11:00a - 12:00p p.s.t. approximately......now what to do for the remaining 2-3 hours.Looking For Boot splash img if you get time.... Must be a CM7 Splash of some sorts!

INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM 7 to your Galaxy S2 (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Flash DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip Wipe Utility
4. Install Rom
- Second time flashing
1. Flash DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip Wipe Utility
2. Install Rom
~ If Coming from ICS
1. Flash DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip
