Yeah. I saw that. But by the looks of the list that you wrote. You sounded like you are demanding those features. They know what they have to do but they are not obliged to do it. Remember, we are not paying them to do this for us. Time is the only thing that we can give them. :D

when u get any such error, while still in recovery connect device to PC and pull the recovery.log from /cache/recovery/ and post it here

i am guessing that the space on SDCARD ran out...

ok so free space is not the issue as the log clearly states that Free Space was 5916MB..

there do seem to be some errors like "No such file or directory"... not sure whats causing them... may be that is leading to final error...

also the log shows that u are on DDKP3 can u check if u get same error on XXKPQ?

btw u can individually backup certain partitions (only data) using the advanced backup feature in the recovery...

Well DDKP3 is not the problem!
I am facing this problem since a few days!
I am usimg this kernel since 23jan2012. No problem since then.
And i know reflashing the rom could solve the problem but i dont want to.
And one more thing is that surprizingly i am not facing this problem in CF root!!

So without reflashing the ROM.what conclusion can be drawn?

Hi doomlord, can u please compare the new log and the old log and see what was the problem!
Thanks..

Sent from my GT-I9003 CM9

ok so i checked it...

and as i suspected the backup issue was due to these errors:
Code:
Backing up system...
find: /system/lib/libaudioalsa.so: No such file or directory
find: /system/bin/basimage_ibeats_solo.bin: No such file or directory
find: /system/etc/audio/lmfilter.txt: No such file or directory
find: /system/etc/AudioFilter.csv: No such file or directory
I:Using tar_compress on /system
may be something in ur ROM might have corrupted the filesystem for /system partition...

thats why always post the recovery logs when u face any errors/issues in recovery... it really helps the devs understand whats going wrong

Apology for my lack of presence

Sincere apology, to all who donated/who tried and trusted UC-kernels, for this lack of development for this long.
I know its a long time that I have not shown up on xda.

Reasons for my absence:

  • I used to work on my work PC for development (Reason for my slow development speed. I had to sneak out some time for development at work place. ;))
  • Recently, my work tenure got over, and my work PC became in-accessible to me. But luckily I got another job in same institute. (So I got a different PC with a little bit lower config.) :)
  • So I had to set up build environment again on this new PC, which is a tricky job with institutional proxy server.
  • Now, I have got all dependencies sorted out but all my compiled kernels are not booting (I have no clue as to why)
  • I have discussed this issue with DooMLoRD as well and have tried almost all of workarounds/fixes. But still I am stuck with boot screen.
  • I will try for 2-3 days more and then I will hand over this device to DooMLoRD for further development. (Though he is too busy with a lot of development devices, I hope he could spare some time for time being)
  • I will continue struggling with my PC till I could get a working development platform.

I hope you guys bear with me for few more days.

P.S. I have ordered an Asus Republic of Gamers series laptop from US. Hopefully my friend will get it by the end of this month and then I will have my own development workstation. :D

It looks like, it is high time to shift to ics. ;)

Ok, guys. we will start working on porting our kernel for other rom. :)

    @ UC team

Guys I know that u are working with alot of hard work for making stock kernel much much better with good features. But except vurrut no one is specifically creating kerels for AOSP roms. Now a days no one is using (or very few people are using it) cm7 or GB based miui roms. Everyone is excited about ICS based Dhiru's cm9 rom. But he is also alone working on it & he is struggling alot to make it a daily usable rom. But we can't expect everything from him on such tough development of cm9 which includes new drivers, wifi problems, most tough development of kernel 3.0 & many more problems.
We all expect from u guys that please help Dhiru by working on ICS kernel. Also many users seriously facing blacklight issue which causes a heavy battery drain on cm7 & now on cm9 roms. So please take a look into that also. We all will be thankful to u :)

    Thank You

    Regards
    VISHAL

    5. start ODIN
    6. make sure that device is detected
    7. click on PDA and select the file u downloaded
    8. now click start
    9. after flashing is successful the device will reboot
    10. enjoy our kernel!

[ how to get back to stock kernel ]

    1. download the file given below
    2. check the md5hash of the file to ensure file integrity

    1. we will revert to newest CF-Root ramdisk later... due to some technical issues we cant include that in this release...
    2. version #1009 will be the most stable of the lot... other kernels are provided for testing purposes only!
    3. version #3009 is overvolted to have stability at 1.3GHz we can optimize the voltages later
    4. i havent had time to do a thorough testing... we are depending on the users feedback...
    5. it appears the "fix_permissions" feature in CWM recovery is broken, i have fixed it in our sources... it will work correctly from next release...
