Lets be clear about something first before the flames start.

1) He (the developer) is in no obligation to work on this fast or slow or even to work with it at all.
2) The fact that it has taken so long to at least announce an update stating that the work will begin is a clear sign that these people has absolutely no time to work on this which means EPIC FAIL! thats right EPIC FAIL!!! Try to digest it and accept it as a fact. No epic app can keep up the pace of mobile technology unless they have dedicated developers plain and simple.
3) a succesfull app needs developers spending hours and days on it, look at adw o LPP or even go launcher all of them at the beginning started with dedicated developers modifying tweaking and experimenting in a matter of days not months after the app took shape, then they started to slow the pace until the app became awesome then they took time to make adjustments more slowly.
4) Right now LPP+ is suppose to undergo a massive overhaul as deep as the source code itself which OBVIOUSLY takes time but who cares if it takes time we already have a almost fully functional LPP+ (calendar widget is not updating as it should). But the fact that theres something we can play with gives us hope.
5) At first I cheked every night once I came from the university to see if there was at least an update on the progress, after a couple of weeks decided to check once in a week, now I barely Even check.

Suggestions:

1) More communication with the community who wants to use the app plus help you out making it great.
2) If you really dont have the time it takes before the idea becomes obsolete and by that go check SENTIO UI its a new UI which states clearly that it will take long before a beta or alpha am like WTF just dont announce it if you cant make it; then ask for developers who can join your team and begin the process not just wait until free time appears, I just can't imagine version 1.0 with like hundred bugs and having to wait like 2 months before a post and 6 months:p for a fix???

Thanks for reading I just couldn't resist so much pages of CRAP and still no response from the DEV.

if you rarely check, why do you care so much??

the developer doesnt owe anything to anybody here.

this post = EPIC FAIL....thats right, EPIC FAIL

Perhaps you do need to stop checking, or subscribe to this thread, so that when there's any new postings, you'll get notified.

There's pleanty of other launcher options out there (ADW, LPP+, GOLauncher, etc) that you can use, I will patiently wait to see where this goes.

Oh its promising alright, for about the last 2 years! Dev should close this thread, and repost when he has something for the community.

Just wanted to point out that it is Launcherpro plus, therefore it would be either LPP or LP+, not both. It isn't launcherpro plus plus.

I really don't, just find it funny everyone defending it. and people like me why devs hate xda? I'm not the one pretending to develop something, if a dev develops something I'm all for it, its when they say one thing and don't deliver that make people like me hate xda

Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out!
Just because you have seen it does not mean you have the right to demand it or insist on a timetable for it's completion!

The name of the site is XDA developers not users of xda developers.

The problem is the same with developers all over. They have a choice:

- Put out a release date, and get bashed when they miss it.

- Stay silent & people bash you for no updates.

- Put out a release date, and keep pushing it (guess what happens)

Personally, I just like communication of any sort. I'd like so see a regular update (weekly, monthly, whatever it is, but stick to it).

I don't even mind an update that says "Hey, busy week, no work done - no updates. Next update in 2 weeks." Or "Feature X & Y are working. Just need to finish <list> and do bug testing."

I don't care for release dates, cause I know it'll never happen and I get oddly depressed when an artificial date is missed.

But I really don't want to read a thread full of "what's going on" and people getting upset. Didn't the Kite thread get locked already?

BTW - Mobile Shell could learn from this. They are annoying their user base with a teaser video, a closed beta and no word about anything.

    --------------------------------------

    Dockbar Preview-video is up!

Note: The dock and assets in this video are outdated already. Take a look at the new screenshots below to see what we have improved.

Update 2: Official website now online!
    Update: Added feature-descriptions.

    --------------------------------------

    Introduction

    So, what is 'Slick UI'?
Like other apps, such as LauncherPro or ADW, Slick UI is a Homescreen-replacement Launcher. It will replace your stock homescreen and add in some great new, more functional and aesthetically pleasing features to make the everyday use of your Android-phone more... well, fun!

The goal of this project is to make the Launcher silky smooth, functional and highly customizable.

Sounds great, but how does it look?

UPDATE: Deleted old screenshots and added new below. Notice the enhanced/space-saving 'WonderWheel' and the redesigned app-drawer.
No more 'pull'. The app-drawer will be full screen. We needed this space to include the full featureset. A full screen app-drawer also opens up a lot of possibilities for eye-candy/animation.

Let us know what you think!

How far along is the project?

As you can see in the video about our dockbar, we have made some decent progress on the development. Things are going very well. But remember; we're a small team, so we can only do so much in our spare time.

In the future, we might require some testers to report back on bugs etc, but for now I'd like you to just tell us how you think it looks and let us know what features you would like to see implemented. Please stop asking for the Beta through PM's.

    Currently announced features

Feature: Innovative app-drawer - videodemo demo coming later
We're aiming to make the app-drawer the most powerful ever seen in an Android Launcher. Some of the features will be:
    • Support for tags. Tag your apps, choose a tag-color and quickly access all apps assigned to that tag just by tapping on a shortcut.
    • Side-swiping withing the drawer. By default, the app-drawer will show all apps on your phone (there will be an option to hide certain apps). Swipe right to browse through your tags, swipe left to access the 'Recent apps', 'Most popular apps' and 'Memory info' (Number of apps installed, available memory etc). A great example of this can be found in Tweetdeck.
    • Re-arrange your apps within these tag-'columns' by holding an icon and move it over the grid. Other apps will 'automagically' move out of the way.

    Feature: Customizable dock
Like in Launcher Pro, there will be a custom dock at the bottom of your screen in which you can drag-and-drop your shortcuts. You can either directly drag-and-drop them from the homescreen, as well as from your app-drawer. This will not be limited to applications. Any kind of shortcut can be dropped into the dock, such as contacts, bookmarks and even 'tags'. Clicking on a tag will automatically open the app-drawer and swipe to the appropiate tag-'column'.

    Feature: Customizable content-wheel (WonderWheel)
Coming soon. Currently working on this.

Also, you can have up to seven homescreens, and we're aiming to add in the popular 'birds eye view' feature as well, making it easy to quickly navigate to the desired homescreen and organize the order in which they are displayed.

    --------------------------------------

    FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: "Please do folders in Slick UI!"
A: There will be folders in Slick UI. Both our own interpretation and Android native folders will be supported.

    Q: "Can I be a Beta tester?"
A: Yes, but right now, we're far from providing you with a working code. When we feel confident in sending out Betacodes, there will be a seperate Beta sign-up page which you will be informed about through XDA and the official Twitter-account for Slick UI.

Q: "Do you have a releasedate?"
A: Currently, we dot not have a releasedate. The project is still in it's very early stages.

    --------------------------------------

If you want to help us out, because you have mad coding skills and experience with Android, be sure to send me a PM.
I'll be doing most of the graphics, but if you feel like helping out with things like icons or other stuff, just let me know!

Note: I cannot respond to all private messages at XDA, as there are too many coming in right now. I appreciate all the feedback and Beta help offerings, but I have over 100 requests already.
Don't worry, if your PM is important, I will get back at you ASAP.

    Hi Guys,

As this is my first post I figured a quick introduction was in order. My name is Jim. I'm a professional Software Engineer, husband, father of 3, basketball coach and volunteer with the cub scouts. In the special interest of this thread I'm also the principle developer behind Slick UI. In other words I wear many hats. As you have likely noticed not much as been happening on the Slick UI front as of late. Slick UI development is done in my spare time and I enjoy every moment of it. Unfortunately the past 6 weeks have been exceptionally busy (holidays, school activities, 80+ hour work weeks, purchasing a home etc) and I simply have not had adequate spare time to dedicate to developing Slick UI. Things are starting to get back to normal however and development of Slick UI is starting to ramp back up. Stay tuned for future updates as work on the drawer organizational tags has begun.

Thread closed until some sort of product is available. No "coming soon" threads. This has been allowed open much too long without any real offerings of progress.

I hear ya' - it does look awesome. I just wish whomever is heading up the project would at least inform us how testing is going or not going etc. I'm still hopeful.

Quick update: We're currently still very busy with developing Slick UI, but as we also have our social lives and day jobs, things aren't going as fast as we would like them to go.

Don't worry, a new video and even a pre-alpha build is right around the corner.

I didn't know there might be the unprofessional SE type. ;) But I guess there are...

Then you don't work in the industry ;)
