[ROM][RK3188][HD] Malaysk ROMs for any yet known MTCD-Device

You probably don'y know it, but on Auto Pumpkin forums, they have a lot of issues with the MTCD devices like you are having. They are always giving out firmware and asking did that fix it and most cases, nope. It is always Bluetooth or something. So you are fighting the same issues they are..
So stay at it if you can for the people who have MTCD's, I have MTCB unit.. Roms are good for me.

I think he is hitting a wall as these units should not have had 5.1 put on them. There is not enough memory to do it. They run poorly with whatever rom is on there. 4.4.4 would be a better solution. Not his fault at all, they did something they should not have, and now they have unhappy customers. If you cannot even open google maps the thing is useless. If GPS doesn't work it is useless. I wonder if we can just change the android board to move back to 4.4.4

No they don't understand....they believe to be Apple or Samsung..with proper ROM and MCU....if issues will prosecute....$ per $ people will buy any kenwood or pioneer unit android play....

I learned a lot about android from, this thread. I have many android products but this head unit got me thinking about really playing around with it. I have got a problem after installation of one of the updates. The buttons themselfs on the unit have change functions (volume wont work and different buttons) and CAN wont work. Try all the ROM's and cant fix it. Any idea's what to do?

Before you installed the ROM, did you record your factory settings? Any info at all.. Sometimes things get changed and items alter.

Hopefully someone here might have a radio like yours and can give you the factory settings info. You can try on your own.. Look for Key Wheel (I think) set the steering whheel, but it might be in FACTORY Settings (pass is 126 most of the time) and look in there

Make sure you create the folders and ini files on the GPS SD Card before you enable the modules. If you do that then it works and won't case a boot loop. Same goes for the xposed module that puts the gps speed on the malaysk(5.1 JY) launcher.

On v6, this works for me. No bootloops when gps speed folder placed on GPS card root.

However, TomTom Go still won't launch after activating Serial number change. 12 random digits right? I have a combination of some letters and numbers, 12 in total.

To return to stock make sure you have the stock ROM image on either the GPS card or on a USB stick attached to the device. Hit the reset button and use the procedure to get to the factory recovery menu. If you don't know what it is search for it, it varies with each device. Once you are in there select the last option, factory reset and wipe cache. When that is done immediately choose the option update from SD and clear all, or, update from USB and clear all, depending on where you put the factory image. You will get a parameter error but it will complete and reboot. After it has Rebooted do the exact same steps above one more time and this time you won't have the parameter error and when it boots up it will be fully returned to stock.

Quick question re: status_bar.ini file. What does Show/Hide app actually do? I toggled it on/off and did not find any change made. I have been trying to hide the recent program and the 9 dot icon on the top right but have not had any luck. Has anyone else gotten rid of those? I am going to change buttons using mtc-keys for recent programs by pushing volume knob and that icon is redundant.

Also has anyone setup corporate (Exchange) email? I don't see this option, I know there was a 5.1.1 update that added it backup but if Malay used the older version are we hosed?

The factory DVD recorder can not be changed Somehow, That You do not have the .log file output but something SRT?

Everyone may want to look at the overclocking thread. These 3188mtcd were capped at 1.2 for some reason. setcpu made a world of difference on any of the roms. no lag it runs just like my mtcb 4.4.4, well after it starts and gives root permission at least. might want to add some cooling so nothing gets fried, but I think this rom is worth perusing again.

Not looking forward to reloading everything again, but this rom did have better features. Anyone know how to unlock the speed control in the kernel? Would even be better at 1.8.

Malaysk sorry to hear you are stopping development. I just tried your firmwares for the first time this month, and I'm impressed.
Ok there's a few issues, but there were issues with the stock ROM too but I think yours is much better. so большое спасибо tовариш

Today I tried the firmware from yesterday (22nd Sept) and SUCCESS for the first time I'm able to actually get everything working.
Bluetooth works.
Changing serial number and installing tomtom works (hurrah)
Sound from music player much better. No skipped tracks found yet either.
Bootup time is an awesome 15 seconds.

Only downside for me right now is

it takes 65 seconds from pressing the NAV button to tomtom started and ready to use. But I can live with that.
enabling the GPS dashboard widget thing in Xposed results in boot loop... again, I can live without that.

One question if anyone can help... Titanium backup is installed on the ROM, how can i take a backup to make my own dupdate.img ? So i can restore using recovery mode my entire image. As far as I can see I can only backup the data so I'd have to install the ROM and then recover. Is it possible to make my own dupdate.img and backup everything to an image? Do I need to use nandroid instead of titanium ? Thanks.

i just noticed initd works in version 6.5. I see some cpu mods coming
