Complete and utter rubbish, working fine here on two devices one rooted one not..
Alright so, after doing a system optimization on my non-rooted Samsung S8, I was shown the Connect to Internet screen on the previous version of vanced, I am unaware of what build it is, but I did not need to use a SAI to install it, I installed it from the YSK reddit and am not able to link it due to this being a new account. After getting some help I reinstalled the latest version from the Vanced.app website. I used the process it told me and followed it multiple times but was still stuck at the Connect To Internet screen.
I tried to install a previous version- 14.21.54 blue vanced and the microG-0.2.6.174.
I installed these files from the My Files app under APK and once installed I was met with the 'Vanced.app is the only offical site...' pop up, clicking dismiss or later leads to the same outcome of when trying to sign in.
A pop up that says-
Accounts +
Please check your network...
tap to retry
shows up when trying to sign in, and if I click the plus button and use my email, it says that email is already on this device. Using a fresh email leads to the Connect to Internet screen. Pressing Tap to Retry has a small loading symbol then the same pop up appear.
I tried using the Airplane mode, dismiss, airplane mode off tactic on all three builds but it did nothing. My accounts are not banned and I can use normal youtube, but that sucks and I really hate ads. I am up for anything but rooting my device to fix this problem I found myself in. I am new here and am typing this up o my phone so I am sorry for the crap formatting.
Crashes, freezing only means you have set the app wrongly. If you are new to XDA I can point you to places where you can find out about logging and reporting.
And nobody said there are no ads on homescreen. Those ads are... ohh I am very tired of explaining this. Just read and search in thread...

Is there any difference functionally, between the root and non-root version of vanced? This is under the assumption that I have no qualms with disabling APK signature verification.
Ok.... Where is the log? Whining is whining more so without logs and decent report
Give me a break, I know what I'm doing. Your condescension isn't appreciated.
The latest non-root version is NOT stable (crashes, freezing) on my LG V20, but is very stable on my Razer Phone 2. The older Magisk module works just fine on the LG V20 however.
This is MY experience. I'm not trying to confuse anyone, I'm reporting my experience in hopes someone else might have a solution. Period.
P.S. And there ARE ads on the main feed.
Capture a log when it crashes?I couldn't get the latest version to work either. It crashes constantly. I use a Huawei on Oreo. Back to 14.21.54 for me...
I have to say I'm impressed with the app dev, finding a way around these new obstacles. Keep up the good work!
I'm afraid not. Most detach solutions only work temporarily. There are some methods (just search this thread for 'detach') that are more efficient but they are either drastic or quite complex. You can also disable auto update completely and update apps manually (more work? lol).
A more sound solution is using the non-root version. That will not only never both you with any updates, it will also provide you with a much more recent version of YT as the Magisk distribution is discontinued and nearly a year old or so (May 2019 IIRC).
Method 2 is what I used and it seems to be working fine for over a week now.
Maybe I will try method 3 and keep you posted if i see any updates popping up.
As for deleting the app, I use it for more than just detaching YouTube it is super handy so I'll be keeping it.
Thanks a lot for it!
I think @Team Vanced should add your app to the op as how often is that question asked here "does anyone else get an update notification in playstore? Please fix?" :silly:
Still using method 2 since I posted that comment and everything still works as expected. Only once during the first week of having it applied I seen an update in playstore but closing and reopening play store made it disappear again. For everyone that is not running Xposed, the following app I built has been keeping YouTube updates away for a number of weeks now, successfully.
I have documented the steps in the following post.
