I solved the Security settings FC by factory reset/re-flash/re-install gapps. I can access it now.

As for now, Google Now in this build has a problem: it sucks battery like there's no tomorrow (4-5% per hour on my device). I simply disabled it, but I'm mentioning this because it posed no such problems in previous builds. Battery status sees it as „google search”, but it's „Now” all right.

No other noticeable hiccups here, thank you team once more! :)

Mate, try first with app data clear and in the recovery mode with wiping cache and dalvik cache.

Plan B: If it still angers, make a nandroid backup, do full wipe in recovery (incl. factory reset and formatting /system) and install cleanly again RC2 build, latest Slim Gapps and superSU. Check after that if the services are workin fine. If yes, advanced restore of only /data from your recent nandroid.

If no, make a logcat and attach for mnazim, with an info about your baseband and bootloader you're on.

Believe me, I wiped it clean - including formatting /system and clearing init.d.

I actually don't like Google Now at all, I was just curious to see how it works. Disabling it is actually a relief, so going at length through all that trouble just to make it work is not really an option. :)

But thanks a lot, man, for trying to help :)

@ mnazim - Both location (general) and Google's „location-based reporting” were disabled. But, as I said above, I've disabled Google Now altogether, as I actually consider it nothing more than bloatware in this stage of its development.

Thank you too, mnazim. :)

Made backup of everything with Tita to finally flash RC2 and now there is already Rc3. So totally ready to flash. However yesterday during a long trainride I got so frustrated with KK on my Nex7-13 I am considering going back to JB on that device.

The idiots of Google killed text reflow/wrap (and inverted mode and AOSP browser) in KK. Without that browsing on a mobile is a disaster. (Dolphin with Jetpack and UC still do text wrap but collect all your private data). Also many rss-readers, ebook-readers, etc don't wrap text anymore.

When that is already a problem on a tablet, on a small screen such as the SGS1 that will be disastrious concerning reading. And reading on SGS1 is for me very important while commuting.

So I am doubting moving to SlimKat on SGS1. Even when KK concerning OS-performance is better than JB. Without text wrap in KK browsing and reading to me an Android device is for a great part unusable.

Unless anyone knows a sulution?

@juliatan wait a week longer and you'll get stable :)

KK for N7 was crap from 1st day. It's another topic, find guide by comminus how to flash 4.3 back. I did a YouTube video of it.

    WARNING!

    NOTE:

    • Keep in mind that this are early Beta builds!!!!!! Means bugs can happen. So please only use this builds if you want to help us and iron out the bugs with proper bug-reports etc.

    • If you get error while flashing, go to advanced->reboot to recovery and flash again.

    • If you get SU issues, flash SuperSU v1.80.zip from chainfire's thread.

    BUG REPORTING

When you submit a bug-report, you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise we might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist.

The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.

    • Make a nandroid backup.
    • Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system) Now we have two different ways depending on what kind of problem you're having.

    • When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS, and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the home-screen.

    • When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.

    • Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard. Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet". Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.

    • Start a logcat recording and reproduce the bug (if possible more than once) while taking the logcat. If you don't know how to get a logcat read this tutorial or this.

    • Post the logcat in a text file (this is important because you otherwise clog up the threads with your log) in the correct thread. Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
    • Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (PLEASE don't ask for ETAs).

mnazim our device maintainer (DM) isn't active anymore, so our build is still labeled weekly. so we are not at a stable stage as there are issues no one is looking after.

i just hope mnazim can return or some dev can pick up where mnazim left. but that seems unlikely for the old SGS. :(

Stable is just a tag guys... We will push out weeklies as long as possible for the i9000... This device is just too vintage to let go so easily... ;)

    2.5 RC1

2.5 RC1 on the way guys... Enjoy!

PS: Do not forget to flash updated gapps with the new build, else it will break your backup-restore.
