Thanks for the Up!! This is an awesome alternative!! I simply renamed the file to Pen_att_noti3.ogg and deleted the original. Set permissions and rebooted. Did that for both files and it worked like a charm. I hated the original noti3.... :D

Hi.
Do I need to root my phone for this to work? I have located the files but am unable to move them or change the read and write settings.

Which ones are you replacing exactly? There are multiple sounds for att & det. I downloaded the zip (2 files) with the higher db's that was posted so it should be louder. Would like to try this if someone could point out exactly which 2 to replace. Thanks

*EDIT* Never mind. lol

I'm stupid. I never set permissions after I copied it. A made a newb move. Sorry. Awesome trick

Would you happen to know which ones CAN be changed? or the ones you have changed?

I kind of want to replace the sound for locking and unlocking. Right now I have it off, but if I am willing to turn it back on if I can get some great sound effects :)

    Amigo, this thread has had several posts a day for weeks now?

    Making your own sounds is actually very easy. I think the hard part is having the creativity to think of two good sounds to make.

    I don't want to sound like an a-hole but you replied with a quote from the op but deleted the part of the quote stating that you have to be rooted... did anyone else notice this?

    So, did anyone figure out where that ripple sound is actually coming from?
    I related to the 'rage quit' guy up there.. this seems like it should be so easy. lol.
    But, can't for the life of me, find the ripple before unlock. I know how to disable the sound.. i just want to change it.

    EDIT: Found it.
    So, it's part of /system/app/WaterRipple.apk
    in /res/raw/*.ogg

    Files are
    down.ogg
    unlock.ogg
    up.ogg

    ..ok, i can sleep now.
