For ota update you should have the stock recovery to update.

Sinds its not booting anymore a ruu might come in handy !

Put the phone in the bootloader (hold power button + volume down button together until you are in the bootloader, do not let go before that !)

Then do the fastboot commands

Fastboot getvar version-main
Fastboot oem readcid

:D

Then you can do it with a nandroid backup !

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1975140

Go there and download the matching nandroid of your cid and main. I just checked, its there !

You need to flash the boot.img from the nandroid and unpack the nandroid to the phones sdcard then perform a full wipe and restore the nandroid.

Last step is to flash back the stock 2.17 recovery.

If the battery is above 10% you can still flash !

Nd please read the OP carefully, it contains good info

Oke try this

Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot erase cache

then reflash the recovery

Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache

Then enter the recovery again.

And otherwise relock the bootloader and flash the standalone firmware for your CID and unlock the bootloader again and then flash the recovery again

unlock it with the unlock code you got from htc the first time

fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin

and if you lost it you can make a new one at the htcdev site

    Hi

I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on the end of your post but I've found myself in a very similar situation.

    What I've done so far:

I was on TMOB-005 so I downloaded the relevant file from this thread (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1957376)
    Re-Locked bootloader
Flashed new HBOOT (Now showing as 1.39.0000)
    Unlocked bootloader
Flashed CWM (Everything appeared to go fine)
When I enter recovery from HBOOT my handset just hangs on the white HTC, quietly brilliant screen.
When I do "Fastboot getvar version-main ", the result is: 3.16.110.4

I also tried to do the fastboot erase recovery command but i got some "access not allowed" type message.

I've repeated the above steps a couple of times but no joy. Any helpers?

    Many thanks
    Ian

Fixed. I used a different version of CWM and it worked a treat. By different I meant *newest* :p
