Restoring boot.IMG is not working

But I'm sure its almost useless because almost same kernel is good for all 4.2

So the final verdict is that this recovery is awesome and a great try,

Bro I'm not satisfied with your ROM but you made up for that with this awesome recovery.

good job by the looks of it, @captain_nemo. woulda loved to test/use this, but i traded my a110 for an a116 sometime back :crying:
now, if someone is kind enough to make a port for a116, i'd be glad to test. thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

Please mention on first post the backup/restore issue with boot and recovery partitions
That's caused by the MTK chip. I will add support for these later when I have more time

That means 2 bugs exists
1. Can't backup/restore with boot.img
2. Can't mount sdcard straight way from recovery.
Hope to see this recovery bugless. I have flashed it this morning. Its a great recovery as it kills the strain over hard button keys for selecting / navigating at every step :)

Just out of curiosity.. :p is it possible to add feature of uninstalling apps from recovery :confused:

I know i'm asking for too much :silly: but just saying :rolleyes:

Just one way I can think of is - You can go to Aroma FM and can delete the app from the respective folders (System/App or Data/App) which is equivalent to uninstallation. A JUGGAD method though :D

Recovery is awesome ...no need for button pressing....:p but please make usb mount to work..dats just the problem i guess users will face..otherwise :good: work....

You must have Root access.



Installation Instructions
1. Download and place the image file into internal storage.
2. Rename the image file into "recovery.img". [Without quotes]
3. Install MTK MobileUncle Tool from Play Store and open and got Recovery Updates option
4. Select the image file to install and let it be installed automatically.
5. It will reboot into recovery.

Hii...good recovery but a query...when i am doing backup to internal sd then it takesmuch time and looks like it get stuck up at "backing up boot image"..why is such..if i am using wrong option for backup in that menu of backup & restore then which option is right for making backup?? please tell m stuck over there...:confused:

Make a backup without boot image, and when restoring your backup flash boot.img as per required.
Or simply flash thunderzap V2 after restoring 4.1 rom and flash andiroxu kernel when restoring 4.2 backup.

HOw can a backup be done without boot.img..and when restoring how can we flash boot.img..coz if the backup file will not contain boot.img will it not give any error...please guide steps for this as i dont know in deep seniors... :)....And thunderzap v2 is same andiroxu na that 3.4.5 kernel that i have flashed already for suvi rom JB 4.1.1 or are there separate links for this two ??

Buddy.. first of all ThunderZap is way too different than andiroxu's kernel..

and you can backup your ROM without boot.img and recovery.img by going to recovery>backup & restore>custom Backup & Restore>Custom Backup Job>

now uncheck Backup boot & Backup recovery then

select >>Start Custom Backup Job<<

you're done... try it :good:

and if you want to flash a new ROM then just flash the appropriate kernel.. for 4.2.x flash andiroxu kernel.
for 4.1.x flash ThunderZap :good:

Many thanks dude...:good: and for restoring i guess will have to do custom restore and check the restore boot and recovery that's rite na dude..??? Also usb mounting is not working in this recovery ..is that bug removed?????

Yup that's right..
and yes USB doesn't mount in this recovery due to limitations of MediaTek chipsets.. Phil is working on that.. let's hope he succeeds! ;)

    - toggle between 4 touch modes    : FULL TOUCH, DOUBLE TAP to validate and SEMI TOUCH (scroll but no touch validation) and NO TOUCH to only use hardware keys

    Note: after scroll, first touch will select only. After one sec of scrolling or on second touch, it will validate immeadiately. This is by design and not a bug. It is there to limit erroneous validation while scrolling

    • you can cancel any nandroid operation with back button
    • create custom_rom.zip from current ROM or from a pre-existing nandroid backup (based on boot, /system and optionally /preload)
    • nandroid backup path now will be named with current ROM id from build.prop (ro.modversion, then ro.romversion, then ro.build.display.id)
    • custom backup and restore job list: backup and restore freely any partition combo (include modem and efs)
    • backup/restore EFS in both tar + img formats, now with time incremented copies for both tar and .img
    • support flash modem.bin image files in addition to custom modem.img files, now support for multiple *.bin versions under dedicated folder
    • during custom restore, you can see the contents of the folder you want to restore from
    • delete custom or TWRP backups from recovery menu
    • full wipe before flashing new ROM: wipe user data + format /system and /preload. SD card content is not affected
    • full support for openrecovery script specifications include all backup and restore options
    • run openrecovery scripts in 2 modes: on start goomanager boot scripts + one touch menu to either directly open a default path or freely browse for scripts
    • define ors backup target volume from within Nandroid Settings menu
    • ors restore path supports stock clockworkmod path or TWRP path
    • poweroff, reboot to recovery and reboot to download/bootloader mode options
    • dual USB mount in recovery support and mount external sd over usb for /data/media devices
    • adb root in recovery: just wait about a minute to activate

    Test Results

    Everything is working perfect.....
    backup is working (but have to use custom backup means without boot.IMG and recovery)
    restore is working....
    restore cwm backup also working

    I checked it and same got confirmed from @khan_frd2002
