Tested OEM apple headphones, doesn't work
Tested Seinhauser headphones, doesn't work
Tested OEM Samsung GSII headphones, works....

I've had it, sending mine back. First the retailer doesn't supply the hdmi as advertised, then I have to deal with "some" headphones work issues.

No thanks.

Yeah, I don't understand why you'd want to use apple headphones, you can buy a lot better headphones for so low... try some audio technica ones if you are in a budget. Apple standard ones distort everything so much...

If you are asking me, my sennheiser are my primary headphones, they were around $100 and just plain rock. With the same standard, they "should" work.
I shouldn't need to buy new headphones because Sony can't play nice with the "standard"

Hello sfai05,

I have got exactly the same problem as you describe :( .
Did you already manage to fix this? Or do you know what the problem is?

I am looking forward to your response. If I solve the problem myself I will post it here (sadly I'm not very technical minded; maybe that's why I bought those Apple- In-Ear plugs ;) ).

Good luck man.

PS I cannot imagine that there is not a solution to this. Sony cannot be that retarded can they? :S

Sorry for un-burying this topic but I just got an Idea.
Theres some workarounds here to modify some iphone headseats to work perfectly with xperia S.
But in those you have to open the microphone housing and solder some wires and add resistors.
Shouldnt it be possible to just add an extension headset cable which you open and change the wirings and maybe add some resistors?
