That sounds great but how can I restore these files afterward?
leme make moded version of this tool for i9000
most probably u cant... cause the /system partition will be full...
you could del polaris office or whatever the name is and restore files
or use chlorine to cleanup the google blootware from /system/app/ and reinstall it from market to /data/app/ - that frees up ~12 mb in /system/
i cant believe that Samsung managed to fill the WHOLE /system partition... :p
ow they did

Toolkit for GT-I9000

Changes from initial version:

- modified to free up space by removing PowerOn.wav and bootsamsung.qmg from /system/ (bootsound and bootanimation)
- updated Superuser.apk to 3.0.6
- updated busybox to 1.19.3
- updaated zergRush binary to latest version for 02.11.2011

Download:

>>> GT-I9000v102.7z <<< - gt-i9000 modified toolkit

do not get scared of lot +++ LOG: write failed (errno=14) seems to be working anyways

How to restore bootsound and bootanimation:

*) deleted PowerOn.wav and bootsamsung.qmg files are locared in /data/local/tmp/

1) to restore PowerOn.wav and bootsamsung.qmg you first need to free up space in /system/

2) fastest way to do it is by removing google apps - you can do it with this tool
[UTIL][25/AUG/11] Samsung Galaxy S Chlorine (or cwm update bloat remover generator)

3) after that just push files to their proper locations:
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg

4) and redownload all google apps you need via market,
this time they will be installed to /data/app/ not /system/app/
so no more problems with not enought space =)

fresher firmware it is seems to have less space in /system/ =)

here is how it looks on jvt

and wee need space for su and busybox ~2mb
so deleting the bootanimation would be enought ... hmm got to make 103 version :DD

I tried to copy just sound file back but failed. Actually prefer just animation. Will have to use your Google apps method to free space.

    Memory Crash Method

no problem... just detail out the process/steps i will link to it :)

So far tested for i9100G version

    Method 1 : DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit
     Download the toolkit first
    (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1321582)
     Replace the "runme.bat" with this edited "runme.bat" (http://db.tt/H28lkghK)
 Tick USB debugging (settings->Applications->Development), if unticked before
     Tick Unknown sources (settings->Applications)
 Using windows task manager, "end task" ADB.exe and all KIES related software if running
 Connect phone using provided cable, ADB driver for the phone will be installed automatically assuming you have installed KIES first
     Double click the "runme.bat"

    Memory Crash Method
If not succeed, please reboot it manually as it will not reboot automatically after the last unsuccessful script. Now add these extra steps :
 Same like above, do not run the script yet
 Now run applications from your phone, any applications will do, and close them with HOME button, not the BACK button
 Run as many applications as you can, check with "Task Manager", the RAM usages should be at least 500mb and above
     Now run the "runme.bat"
 Result : rooted (Superuser) only
