Thanks all, got all the help we needed.

With the help of Jcase of TeamAndIRC, I spent a good bit of the night bothering / learning from him and he was able to beat 6.2.1. He will be releasing it tomorrow morning over at Rootzwiki.

Once posted, I will have a new KFU ready to flash TWRP, and allow users to flash the rooted here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1402440

Please take the time to thank him when it is posted, and make a few donations after you check it out and get your fire back to root :) Let's get him his own fire to break haha.

Code:
tools\adb install kindleroot.apk
3676 KB/s (15060 bytes in 0.004s)
        pkg: /data/local/tmp/kindleroot.apk
Success
tools\adb shell
$
tools\adb kill-server
tools\adb root
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
restarting adbd as root
tools\adb shell
error: device not found
tools\adb shell
error: device not found
tools\adb shell

Awesome. I was going to install CM7 but fell asleep and when I had turned on my KF the following morning I had received the update. :p

Much thanks for this.

No, it is not. You launch an app on the kindle fire, and you can launch this:

http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1407249

Jcase's root you will need to setup root yourself. I will add that tomorrow morning to my TWRP installer, but at the moment I am exhausted and need sleep.

So it may be a bit harder, only in that it doesn't install permanent root, just temporary to get ADB into root to flash TWRP.

I'll answer here because I can't reply in development forum:

The link in the TWRP Installer post downloads a file without extension ("TWRP_Installer_v1"), it has to be renamed to .zip ("TWRP_Installer_v1.zip")

Great job anyway

Since no current technique seems to be safe from Amazon's OTA update, my guess is you would have to install CM7 at this point if you want to be truly safe. On the other hand, you could assume that the next update won't be for a while, and move ahead with the 6.2.1 and maybe order a factory cable to be ready for the next update.

here is the rooting method, released exclusively on Android Police. Please do not copy and only re-direct to original Android Police post as requested- http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...on-kindle-regardless-of-its-software-version/

Rootzwiki discussion thread- http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13027-universal-all-firmware-one-click-root-including-261/

PS: I am not related with the development. Just came across this post and I posted it here. Thanks to all the developers for all the hard work! Finally we have root again!

To help people easier understand since there is some noob like me. I write down convert step which I did done to make KF be rooted:

Step 1: kindleroot_androidpolice.apk from Justin Case guide
    and install it on KF

Step 2: Run it you will get some message box ask you a few question:

    Choose: I agree
Choose: Case is rock (of course!!)
    Choose: Root.

    Then click exit:

Step 3: Download superuser.zip from Justin Case guide
    and unzip it on C:\yourfoldername

    Example: C:\RootKF621

    Step4: Start >> Run >> cmd

    Step5: Type

    cd \

    Android/platform-tools/

    adb kill-server

    adb root

    adb remount

    adb push C:\RootKF621
    \su /system/xbin/su

    adb shell chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su

    adb shell chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su

    adb install C:\RootKF621
    \com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk

    adb reboot

Again BIG THANK to Justin Case!!!

    Regards,
    Hung
