Sorry about the delay in response. I used animated widget from the market. You can use it for app container or a contact widget. when you tap on it, the contents "fly out" across your screen for you to choose from. Really nice widget I think.
Same for contacts, only one contact per widget instance, but when you tap on it, it flies out with phone, txt, email etc. for you to choose from.
still keeping it simple here too
Can you post the background image that you are using?

I use Flick Ur Pics live wallpaper (free from market) with this image.
BTW, you can use any HD image as wallpaper, just make sure it's 1920x1200.

I tend to use mine a lot in portrait as a few apps I have display that way (Engadget primarily).
And Quadrant....running the CPU test (by the time I thought about it and went to click Refresh on ddms it was at 12/12). Just showing that mine does show it count through the CPU test....
and then done..
