With all respect of Jcase, beaups and their gang which did one hell of a job[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
This is absolutely not the road to follow but when that's said I sincerely hope this is done only to avoid all the mess it would be collecting money from the BOUNTY thread.
My hopes for the future is voluntary donations and nothing ELSE!!!!! . Only my 2 cent[emoji6]

SORRY FOR BEING OFF TOPIC, BACK ON TRACK AGAIN!

Works fine on sprint, are you running stock kernel too?

No I don't have a stock kernel is there one out there that will play nice with what rom? Do I need one that is flashable in recovery or is it something that I need to incorporate into the rom before I flash? Odexed or deodexed?

What il suggest is Flash RUU and then root it. It would work just smooth.

Actually, no lets stop that. Your post was not made with all due respect. The moment you came to this thread, and knowingly went off topic, the respect left the window. With who you were, and your history, you know better than to do this.

The respect was also out the window when YOU broke confidentiality and leaked the existence of it. You have no place to complain when you behave the way YOU did.

The support for this decision to go pay has been overwhelmingly positive. We have had less trouble/rudeness with SunShine than with free releases, almost everyone has been great (real eye opener for us). No customer has had a bricked or damaged device from it. It is fast, it is easy. I do believe this will be the future, and I want to thank everyone who has been great. Especially those that have helped others.

Doing paid releases will allow us the ability to release more, and better quality releases. Money is available for us to pickup bugs from other researchers needed to complete our projects instead of devoting months more time to research to find an equal bug, money is available for us to pay for another programmer is we are too busy, or out of our zone. We can hire support people if needed, to run support, so we can do what we do well, instead of helping someone who doesn't know how to use adb. Overall this has been great in every aspect that the free releases were disheartening, and well not fun. When we get less complaints about a paid release, than a free one, you know something is going right.

Reasons why:
  • Bounties don't pay, they are often full of fake pledges and that is a well known fact. I collected about 30% of the last one. Solves that problem.
  • Scumbag thief's repack and resell work (http://www.gsmcocktail.com/ is mostly consisting of things beaups and I released for free). Solves that problem.
  • People believe they are entitled to our time, and are rude when they are told they are not. Well, now if they pay, they are entitled. Solves that problem.
  • Cost of test devices is too high. I'm not even an HTC fan, and I have purchased 4 HTC phones in last month. I've purchased for research over 30 phone since the start of this month. This field is expensive to play in.
  • Cost of needed software is too high, I spent 10x (no kidding) the cost of the car my son is getting, on the software used in developing WeakSauce. Not counting the three phones I ended up buying to further research the bug (since we can't just let anyone test anymore, because people seem to give away our work and not care about confidentiality).
  • More but I have no coffee cup at this hotel, and my head isnt working.

Maybe when a better solution to bounties is developed, we will return to collecting bounties.

Great tool, worked flawlessly, didn't mind paying a couple of bucks for this. The devs deserve it for all the work they put in to make our phones great ?

is there a bounty thread for a Rom..? They just ask that your free to donate.. Romdev put also enough time to develope.. thinks it's the same ? isn't it ?

Verstuurd vanaf mijn HTC One_M8 met Tapatalk

It isn't the same, not at all. You have hundreds of active rom devs, and you can count the number of people actively releasing roots on your left hand. Enitrely different, and much more difficult game to play in.

i have also 2 m8.. i don't like the idea that we need to pay money to get things. What's next? Paid roms. In my optic this is not good for the community. Should be voluntary if you wants to donate or not.. with respect for the work that is done.

Verstuurd vanaf mijn HTC One_M8 met Tapatalk

I think Macbook Pros should be pay what you want too, but nope Apple charged $3350. Heck, the restaurant last night had the nerve to charge us $450! I wanted it free (ok seriously, for 20 people, that was not bad at all, and it was family and good times!). I would also like someone to come help me build a garage for free, and by help I mean do it all themselves and bring the material. I'm not trying to be rude here, but make a point in a humorous way.

Roms can't be paid, almost functional roms, even ones built form AOSP, include software that is licensed in a way that would make that tactic illegal. Even distribution is likely illegal. Roms are not original works, SunShine is.

First of all I acknowledge your reason for doing what you have done.
That said don't you come tell me what I did or not did. I didn't broke any confidentiality that was already broken by Beaups when he called me a liar when I stated I still was s-on.

So take it easy and concentrate on the work here and I will remain silent[emoji12]

No, i'm saying this is the problem of the bounty thread.. a lot of people will say there gonna pay because they will a solution for the problem they have.. and when the solution is found.. 1/4 paid the bounty. So why let the forum moderator let this happen and that's why (i think)the sunshine team now ask money because 1/4 paid there money and the one (like me) who are gonna donate because it's free and respect the devs for the work they done, are the victim here..

Bounty threads are nothing to do with XDA or the forum mods. I've had this discussion with many of the security researchers who release for the bounties, and we all pretty much agree there's little that can be done. Bounty threads are nothing to do with XDA, and we don't get involved in them. If people want to offer up money within the vague framework that exists, that's fine.

At the end of the day, unless people are required to pay their money up-front, where it's held by someone until a release is made, or alternatively returned to the payers after a given amount of time, you can't enforce a bounty. Doing it escrowed won't work either, as everyone will want to place different conditions on their bounty and so on, and so forth. It's just not practical to collect them in advance, so people are simply saying they will pay, then being held to their word.

It is perhaps worth taking a look at the stats for a recent bounty on the Droid Maxx/Mini/Ultra root bounty - jcase has told me that he received under or around 30% of the promised bounty (despite sending each person who joined the bounty a PM directly). When a bounty is at $2575, that's not a lot of money, when you consider getting a hold of several phones, and putting the time into something that then doesn't even begin to look at paying for your overheads. I don't know about you, but if I was offered $2500 to do something, and only received $600, I'd be looking at legal action if it was a conventional transaction where you bought consumables to carry out the work, and put time into it.

The impression I get from what I see is that the days of bounties are over, as people don't honour their pledges. A shame, as this community is entirely built upon honesty and integrity.

that's true and i really appreciate your work for getting my phone s-off.

I think Macbook Pros should be pay what you want too, but nope Apple charged $3350. Heck, the restaurant last night had the nerve to charge us $450! I wanted it free (ok seriously, for 20 people, that was not bad at all, and it was family and good times!). What I'm really saying.. I loved the free community here on XDA and for every ROM and software i used, even firewater. I paid a donation for the developers. But those bounty threads where people "says" there going to pay there pledge and they don't when there is a release, i hate that. Because there are people out there that save money for months 4 getting a phone like a M8 and then if somebody want s-off or someting else they must pay " " dollar. ( I would pay 25 dollar for s-off ) But somepeople don't have te money for some extra's and thats where the donate come in handy. If i'm poor maybe i donate 5 dollar but if i'm rich i can donate 30 dollar and that's why i love xda.

And i can understand why you ask 25 dollar. For all the work and research for this great phone. Not many people can do what you can, respect.

But truly if you collect the full bounty, would you ask 25 dollar ?
That's why i don't like the bounty threads, you can't trust people.

Sorry for my bad english..

I have to record my support for jcase's views on how S-off should be paid for - without participation in arguments over other matters.

I have lived through a numbe of S-Off projects and I have never seen a smoother and more polite outcome to the development process. People value what they pay for and accord respect to the supplier. End-users have a choice. Use the product at a reasonable fee or do not pay and do not use. Having been a software developer I understand, perhaps better than most, the cost of doing what the Subshine team has done. No-one can sustain that kind of effort and expense without a prospect of reasonable remuneration, even if the object is only to break even.

ROMs just don't count. Too may licensing issues!

If you want to see a burgeoning sense of entltlement to a free lunch just look in ANY ROM thread.

Users pay, non-users don't. That's how it should be.

    Hello JCase:

First of all: Thank you for your amazing work all this golden android years.

Then: I need some help to buy (PayPal) a Sunshine code/license (for HTC 10) 'cause I have an error when I tried in-app purchase. I leave a Ticket Request a couple of days but still no reply.

Thank you in advance for your help
SunShine is winding down, the cost of keeping it online has long been more than it brings it. Expect it to probably go free for a period later this year, then be turned off.

Turbo Support has been merged into the main APK, and no longer needs mofo/Kingroot to work.
This version requires you to be on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 with the matching 3.10.40-perf-g90ddf4a Kernel.

    Code:
    Happy Holidays !

[B][COLOR="Red"]SunShine 3.2 BETA for Droid Turbo [/COLOR][/B](All other devices use the 3.1.XX release for now, as this is untested on other devices). Again DO NOT USE THIS ON ANY OTHER MODELS.

This is a beta, why? It needs more testing and has some bugs, but it is safe and it works. We wanted to get it out today, over the next day or two we will patch some bugs and push another version. (No need to upgrade if you get unlocked).

This version requires you to be on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 with the matching 3.10.40-perf-g90ddf4a Kernel.

You must either be rooted with Mofo, or Temp rooted with the latest kingroot from [url]http://kingroot.net[/url] (yes it works on the 5.1 SU4TL-44 release, it may take a couple tries, and is free).

When Kingroot finishes rooting, go to the setting and uncheck and recheck the option called "Root Authorization" (or something like that), than go into Sunshine,

You MUST have wifi on, even if not connected to wifi.

If it gets "stuck" for more than 5 minutes on a test, turn phone off, then check your bootlaoder. If its not unlocked, try again. It can take a couple goes (you only get charged once, and we guarantee it will work). KingRoot can also cause it to fail if their root bugs out for some reason, solution is to just try again. Uninstalling Kingroot , rebooting then reinstalling may be needed in some cases if it fails.

SunShine 3.2 BETA for DroidTurbo ONLY:k[/url]

This is absolutely not the road to follow but when that's said I sincerely hope this is done only to avoid all the mess it would be collecting money from the BOUNTY thread.
My hopes for the future is voluntary donations and nothing ELSE!!!!! . Only my 2 cent[emoji6]

SORRY FOR BEING OFF TOPIC, BACK ON TRACK AGAIN!
