[MOD][31May.] ★ Lite Camera-MOD ★ <><> for 4.1.2 / 4.2.1 / 4.2.2 / 4.3

As requested, I decided to make a thread for this.

This is a MINIMAL, LITE and STOCK WAY camera mod.

My goal is to offer a slight modification of our Samsung camera's, with faster and regular firmware updates.

I'am joining jobnik's philosophy, but included only the minimal needed by many users (check features part).

It must be only flashed over an official Samsung ROM and not AOSP/AOKP !

Be sure to read the entire thread (+ NOTE section) before posting any question, everything you need to know is here !

Feel free to include my mod to your themes/mods/roms but please don't forget to inform/ask first via PM and credit me in your original thread.

★ FEATURES ★ :

Camera 'volume up' and 'down' buttons as shutter.
"Low battery" warning and blocking removed.
"Can't use flash on low battery" warning and blocking removed.
HQ video recording (*) :
- 1080p: Normal - 17MBit / Fine - 24MBit / Superfine - 30MBit.
- 720p: Normal - 9MBit / Fine - 13MBit / Superfine - 17MBit.
HQ sound recording (*) :
- 192 kbit/s (instead of 128kbit/s).

(*) = download "HQR" versions ("High Quality Recording") to get this feature.

★ INSTALLATION PROCEDURE ★ :

Always nandroid backup ! (just in case)
Download your firmware version ZIP file
Download "Restore.zip" (in TOOLS section).
Put both files in your sdcard folder
Reboot to CWM Recovery
Flash Camera-MOD file
Reboot your device
Done !

"HELP !! I LOST MY CAMERA APP AFTER FLASHING YOUR MOD !!"
No panic, follow this :

Check SamsungCamera.apk permission and set it (if not already done) to 644 (with RootExplorer for example).
Reboot to CWM Recovery
Wipe manually your cache and dalvik-cache
Reboot your device

25.02.2013 :

XXDMB4 from Note2 version released (Android 4.1.2) (new features on it such as volume buttons as shutter is now directly included (no more by myself), Slow and fast motion video recording, taking picture while recording, etc). Please take a look at the "known issue" section before flashing and using Note2 cameras.
[*]Removed old 4.1.2 S3 releases (as Note2 camera is fully compatible on S3) Some problems are encountered with Note2 cam in S3, so I decided to continue only S3 ones. Sorry about this.

24.02.2013 :

Removed old 4.1.2 versions (I will only let the latest available one).
Introducing High Quality Recording profiles (download HQR versions) :

Video quality :
- 1080p: Normal - 17MBit / Fine - 24MBit / Superfine - 30MBit.
- 720p: Normal - 9MBit / Fine - 13MBit / Superfine - 17MBit.

Sound quality :
- 192 kbit/s (instead of 128kbit/s).

23.02.2013 :

XXUFMB3 version released (Android 4.2.1 LEAK).
Restore.zip updated (minor UI modifications : forgot space lines on previous version).

09.02.2013 :

XXEMR2 version released (Android 4.1.2).

01.02.2013 :

Added ADD-ON_Camera_Sounds_OFF.zip (in ADD-ONS section) which aims to remove most of camera sounds.
Added ADD-ON_Camera_Sounds_ON.zip (in ADD-ONS section) which aims to restore previously removed camera sounds (need to flash OFF version first).
Added a backup of your old camera in the flashing procedure.
Added "Restore.zip" (in TOOLS section), to restore your old backed up stock camera.
More detailed steps in the flashing procedure.

31.01.2013 :

I know (using JKay too) but he didn't removed warnings, so with this mod you can still use camera even if low battery has been reached

So when I use it with JKay framework what happens? which buttons act as shutters? and zoom?

Yes, the warnings are very important to have removed. I also use jkay power shutter, but it doesn't seem to hold to focus, release to shoot properly, so i also like to have the volume buttons as shutter as a backup.

My favorite would be to focus with volume up (hold to focus, release to shoot) and burst shoot with volume down (no focus, just quickly shoot)

Perhaps something to consider?

Then you will have both Volume and power buttons as shutter. But you will lose zoom benefit if you flash my mod.

Yeah I see what you mean, sometimes it don't focus correctly or continue to focus even when shutter is pressed, you will have to wait the focus and then press the touch you want, but I don't think I can do anything about both this and what you said, sorry

I really want to keep it simple as I will have to do ot for a lot of future firmwares to come and I don't want to spend 1 hour for each apk's

Since we can also pinch to zoom in videocamera, please consider to add the volume shutter to videokamera too, so that it is similar to photo (so i don't have to challenge my brain) unless it takes you too much time and effort

I like these small mods to the stock camera, nothing too fancy. Keep it up mate

*edit* : looks like it's more complicated than I thought, so not for the moment, sorry. Anyway personally I don't find it very useful as a camcorder shutter

Hi,
Just look until now, but unfortunately, I don't know how to odex back, so the best way is to odex it back yourself using script (there is many in this forum), I can't test them since I'am using a deodexed rom and want to stay in.
I wasn't able to find a script which was simply odexing an apk of your choice without connecting USB, which I don't want.
Sorry, I will precise that my camera-mod in only for deodexed roms then
