Has anyone tried to remove any of the following?

VZW Package installer
VZWAPNService 8.0
AzwSecureSettingsApp 2.0
Weather 4.4.2-10

I am pretty sure that weather app is for the desktop mode, not sure about the other three. I am NOT on verizon service, so I am not sure if I can even test those.

Also, I found that if I remove the google keyboard, even though I have thumbs keyboard, I loose the keyboard completely.

You shouldn't. Did you ho into settings and set up thumbs keyboard correctly?

I believe so. Thumbs is working now with Google keyboard, but as soon as I delete the Google keyboard, the thumbs keyboard option disappears. I know when I was rooted with JB, Google was deleted, but now, not sure what is going on.

Any ideas about those other apk files I listed as possibly delete-able?

Been a bit now, have not found any problems freezing the above. I am not on VZW service, so if adding to the master list, it may be necessary for somebody on VZW to confirm it is good to delete these files.

I have also frozen:

Modem Fastdormancy Monitor Service 4.4.2-10
Print Spooler 1
Sync Serivices 2.9.0.1.111
Tutorial 2.0
Verizon Login 3.1.19
Video Calling 1.3
Vehicle Mode 3.0.0.10

Going to try the com.motorola.vzw... files next

Just to follow up with my posting:

I have frozen/deleted everything as stated above. Have also frozen everything that has VZW or Verizon in the file name. No Problems.

Once again, I am NOT on Verizon service and would suggest somebody confirms removal is safe.

I'm running Gummy ROM at the moment so can't check those other apks. Backup your ROM then delete them. If it messes stuff up then restore. ;)

^^^:)

Rule #1 - READ AND SEARCH BEFORE POSTING THINGS LIKE THIS. Act like a "NEWB" (whatever that is) and we'll treat you like a noob (newb vs noob where noob is the correct spelling). If you don't like it, or get butt hurt over being slammed and taking heat, maybe you should just not ask dumb questions like this.

OK, there is no need for the pointless bickering in this thread. If you have a problem with a post please report it and move on let the moderators deal with it rather than replying. The community does not want to see people flaming each other as this is a mobile development forum NOT social media...

As mentioned in the forum rules...

1. Search before posting.

Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.

2.3 Flaming / Lack of respect: XDA is about sharing and this does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) or rudeness. Flaming or posting with a lack of respect is unacceptable. Treat new members in the manner in which you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instructions when you can, showing them respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.

There will be no further warnings!

The bloatware follies!

I have never posted before however i have taken several
Bloatware lists from this site and tried every list and every file.
What i found is that on some lists some files worked
And some didn't. They were lists for my specific galaxy
Too and some people took a file off their phone and it crashed mine.
I have rebuilt my phone from Odin probably 15 times.
It doesn't happen any more because i know the file system
Inside and out the, well almost but the point is if you want to
Have someone tell you exactly what is safe you will be disappointed.
I don't know why but it's happened to me so many times i didn't have
A choice but get good.
I enjoy it now but only because Odin is such an easy fix for my phone.

I will say this, between /system/app and /system/pri-app i removed
Over 250 files. That's a guess but its probably low. 190 just from apps.

    Hi All,

Now that most people have installed the OTA KitKat and knowing that this will be the last update Motorola makes for our phones, I thought it would be a good idea to make a collection of all the system bloatware that came with the OTA that is able to be removed safely without affecting the performance or running of the phone (either frozen or deleted for those of us lucky enough to be unlocked and already rooted). Lord knows I have been waiting a long long time to delete these apps and not just have them frozen! I'll keep a running list in the second post, hopefully in alphabetical order, as people post up any that I have forgotten about or didn't think of.

Again, this is just a list of everything that is safe to remove if people don't use the apps / functions, not necessarily things that have to be removed.

...there's nothing like freeing up memory and RAM 8)

EDIT: The hard ones to pick out are gonna be all the "com.***" ones since they're not quite as self-explanatory...

Sigh... Please don't spam this thread with posts about root on stock KK. If you don't have it by now, get used to not having it on this phone EVER.

Haha. How do you like your crow prepared? Despite the fact that root and unlock is now available again for a short time, anyway, I think he was showing how there is some freeze ability without root with this update.

With that said, I can't find acoustic warning in tibu, is it now called something else? I can't stand the auto volume drop when I hook to my truck radio.

Update: nvm. Its no longer standalone. Its in android os. You have to use xposed to disable it.

Dude you are way too late to the party. Root and unlocking is not available anymore. I don't even own this phone anymore.

    Get with the times.
