Following up to my prior post, I've confirmed that they crash/freeze/reboot bug for the 70IT 250GB is still present. I've re-installed Bull-Final several times, even formatted my drive clean and done a 100% clean install... nothing has worked. After the totally clean install I let the tablet sit idle at the home screen. In under 5 minutes it locked up and rebooted.

Better luck with the next version for me I hope.

In this setup with the image on the hd, you will continue to have problems on the 70IT 250GB. However I believe the 250Gb has a larger internal storage where your apps are installed and the rootfs from original firmware is or not?
Maybe we could use that extra space to copy the image there.

Titanium Backup reports the internal storage to be 1.7GB. Not sure if that's larger or smaller than the flash versions of the tablets. If you can figure out a way to place it there.. maybe I can get the stability needed to install Gapps...

The A70S has only 300MB for Data, so your space is alot bigger.
And you could have mentioned earlier that you have a 250.

As i said alot of times in the UrukDroid thread, if you guys with the A70H don't help solving the problem and always just stepping back and wait, you will never get a working rom.

So step forward and help.

Fzelle, if you notice I do list the make and model of my tablet in every post in this thread when I am reporting a problem. Furthermore, where do I get started to assist divx118? From what I understand he would need some sort of debug output, but do you have information on how I would set that up. I'm willing to help IF I know how to. The neg attitude your pushing does not help anybody.

hi there all - so glad to see this new rom so thanks a lot all who are involved and contribute.
I do have an issue with root. more exactly with titanium backup and some other apps requiring root...
i have updated superuser but still no good.
apps like root explorer and adaway work fine.
titanium comes up with "sorry, i could not aquire root privilages. This application..." (busybox is installed and seems to work fine. superuser has allowed titanium to be root but still same issue.
also clocksync doesnt seem to ask for root even thought it need it and Rom Toolbox lite works but only part of it's internal applications...
any ideas?
my device is A70IT 8GB

Did you tried to reboot your device ?
If yes, try to clear data of superuser apps and reboot.

Sent from my openAOS Build of Android 2.3 (cyanogenmod edition) using XDA

That is definitely curious behavior. I don't know much about how root privileges work at the system level, but if I were to take a wild shot in the dark I would say something might have gone wrong when you flashed your zImage and initramfs file. Or to look at it from the other side, perhaps your installation of Titanium Backup is bad? My guess would be to try reflashing your zImage and initramfs files and see if that clears up your root permissions issue and/or reinstalling Titanium Backup. Just my .02.

Just let me say one thing before. I've loved my Archos 70IT. But today i've got a lenovo ideapad A1 for only 139 €uros. It has Android Gingerbread out of the box. First i was shocked, I've got only 1200 points on quadrant benschmark test. But everything seems much faster and smoother, especially browsing and starting up Applications. Don't know why?. The quality of processing is much better and the display is amazing in comparison to the 70it ones. It also has some bad viewing angles, but it is much sharper and the colours are brighter. I haven't await the quality of an Apples iPad Display for this price. But it also brings GPS and two cameras for this price. And auto brightness and a vibration motor are also on board. And the best I've found a working ClockworkMod for this device on XDA.

This is a little off topic, I know. And it isn't my purpose to reduce the work of all developers here. But I think times of the G(eneration)8 devices are gone. Archos was one of first who has sold low priced, android based pads with a capacitiv and multitouch display. But time changes, and I'm not sure if G9 pads will be successful.

But don't worry....

That was... Irrelevant.

On the brighter side, I did clear the data/cache for the SuperUser app, and now I have root access with no problems on all the apps. Thank you monstercheese! (Sounds a bit like Homer Simpson with 'Help me mayonnaise!')

no mx video player hwa :-(

I just tested it and that is not entirely true. If the video codec is supported it will play with hw codecs roughly that means if it plays in stock videoplayer. However most codecs are still not supported they need to be "fixed" first.
In principle it should be able to play all codecs which also are available in stock (I use stock dsp libs in CM7), but the right codec needs to be called for the video file. There is it where it currently fails. It doesn't recognize the video files properly.

I probably already know the answer to this, but hdmi doesn't work in this cm9 rom does it? Haven't tried yet, but I'm guessing the only way is to boot stock os and use hdmi that way.

Great work by the way! This tablet (101 G8) definitely is budget in feel and performance, but this cm7 rom greatly helps :)

Yes, I don't think it will work right away. Never tried it, becuase I don't have the hdmi cable.
However drivers are loaded hdmi-out port is detected....just need some guy to make it work. I must say it will be low priority on my list.

@rapunzel11:
Wo hast du das bekommen?

here:

http://www.amazon.de/Lenovo-Tablet-...ICIS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1334599368&sr=8-3

now it's 149 € (sorry), for the pink version, but it looks not girly. Because the front is completely designed in black. So it doesn't matter me.

But for 5 € more you can get a version with a white back cover.

http://www.amazon.de/Lenovo-Tablet-...IBMU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1334599368&sr=8-2

Beware of the black version. It's very glossy and you will see every fingerprint on it.

I have seen the pink version, and that would be a real problem for me.
Everything Pink goes directly into the possession of my wife ;-)

So i have to wait for the "google tablet with tegra 3 for 149", if that ever comes.

A new release is ready the final Degu.

For both gen7/8 you will need to flash the latest zImage and initramfs included in the download links. <-- not needed if you already have flashed the latest with Crow. no changes in kernel or initramfs for Degu release.
Also to be sure you will need to delete your data.img and let it create a new one or copy your own if you use an image more then 256mb.

For setting up your device look here http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/AndroidInstall_CM7_Gingerbread

    Links updated crow release 27-01-2013

    For gen7:

    http://www.openaos.org/wp-upload/gen7/2013-01-27/

    For gen8:

    http://www.openaos.org/wp-upload/gen8/2013-01-27/

If you have any issus post them by creating a new ticket see http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/IssueTracking on howto.

    Known issues are here: http://dev.openaos.org/wiki/AndroidTicketsFor2.3

If it works well or you have issues you can also leave a reply.

BTW camera should partly work on gen8, tested on a 101IT taking photos. Video recording will freeze the app. Not tested with apps that use the cam only with the included camera app.
A43IT has a different camera, so I don't know if it will work.

    Thanks,

    Degu final (27-01-2013)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Changelog:

    - Smoother youtube video playback for gen8
    - More apps in the market available for gen7 and gen8 (also thanks to utopik for this)
    - Internal storage should now properly display free available memory for gen7 and gen8
    - Fixed bookmark for gapps in the browser for gen7 and gen8
    - Overal speed improvement.

Unfortunately you will need a fresh data.img to let these fixes take effect.

    Crow final (25-12-2012)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First don't forget to flash he new zImage (kernel) and initramfs it is in the archive kernel_gen7_20120512_114451.tar.gz for gen7 and kernel_gen8_20120409_002900.tar.gz for gen8 unpack it (with winrar if you are on windows) and only use "zImage" and "initramfs.cpio.gz"

    Changelog see http://www.openaos.org/archives/821

    Bull final (09-04-2012)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First don't forget to flash he new zImage (kernel) and initramfs it is in the archive kernel_gen7_20120512_114451.tar.gz for gen7 and kernel_gen8_20120409_002900.tar.gz for gen8 unpack it (with winrar if you are on windows) and only use "zImage" and "initramfs.cpio.gz"

Only for gen7: If you flash the new kernel and initramfs also delete the old menu.lst when it is there. If you have custom lines in there add them later after you first booted in the new menu.lst that is created.

Only for gen8: If you first boot the image it happens sometimes that omap_vout isn't loaded correctly this means it can't create the overlay for playback video and uses the software renderer. If you just reboot it is ok. It only happens atleast to me on the very first boot.

Some improvements first the kernel and initramfs:
    - Correct orientation of the bootmenu for A101IT
    - Updated the kernel with latest archos GPL release which means that the ones with broken USB host on their A101IT it gets working again when booting stock through the bootmenu.
    - For gen7 updated initramfs to match the one from gen8
    - Added unionfs support, so you can have root with rw access on stock android.

    Improvements on Gingerbread:
    - smoother camera because of using the overlay to display the stream. Known issues: - display is cropped so you don't see the whole camera - Recording still doesn't work.
    - Youtube app works.
    - Hardware accelerated video for atleast youtube app and some mp4 files, maybe more if someone can test some different formats that would be nice. Rotation does work for youtube app, there are still some issues when rotating playing a regular mp4.
    - On gen8 you can also play hw accelerated flash videos in the browser now, of course not all pages will work.
    - wifi location should work now. <-- same for gen7
    - Fix not enough storage when installing apps by moving /cache also to the data.img. <-- same for gen7
    - Update to latest CM code. <-- same for gen7

    RC2 (24-12-2011)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will be the final Bull release or there must be some major bugs discovered in the next few days.
There is now a new feature added (thanks to illifant). The data is now in a separate image "data.img" if it is not there it will be auto created. 256 MB is standard. You can replace it with a bigger one from the download link gen8_data.img.tar.bz2.
If you unpack with for example winrar you see three images 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB just pick a size and copy that to the root of your archos. Rename it to "data.img"
As mentioned you don't have todo this if you want to use 256MB that will be created automaticly.
All your data, apps and gapps are in data.img. So on a next upgrade you won't have to reinstall everything again.
Also the size of the actual image is reduced, for gen7 it is 180MB and for gen8 256MB.

Don't forget to flash the new zImage (kernel) and initramfs it is in kernel_gen7_20111224_181411.tar.bz2 for gen7 and kernel_gen8_20111224_213037.tar.gz for gen8 unpack it with winrar and only use "zImage" and "initramfs.cpio.gz"

(if not specified otherwise the fixes are for gen7 and gen8)

    Gingerbread Image:

    - Deep sleep improved, however to work properly keep adb disabled. (it is now disabled by default.)
    - Charging A43 for USB and wall charger is fixed (gen8)
    - External sd-card is now mounted on /mnt/storage/sdcard (same as on archos firmware).
    - Updated with latest CM code.
    - New modules from updated kernel build (gen8)
    - Other small fixes see the closed tickets.

    zImage and initramfs.cpio.gz:

    - Initramfs script updated, if it fails it will now display an error message instead of just rebooting.
    - Kernel updated to latest archos firmware (2.4.81) kernel (gen8)

    RC1 (06-11-2011)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somethings that are changed since anoa release:

(if not specified otherwise the fixes are for gen7 and gen8)

    - Fixed headphone speaker switch
    - partly camera working for atleast A101IT I think also A70, don't know for A43IT because it has a different cam. (gen8)
    - Fixed permission errors when using ext3 formatted internal memory
    - Fixed some browser crashes. Due to using v8 javascript engine again instead of jsc
    - Fixed crash when going to browser settings
    - Fixed deep sleep which should be working now.
    - Fixed mounting/unmounting external sdcard.
    - Calibration app included for A32 and A43. (Under settings)
    - Updated to latest CM code
    - Kernel updated to latest sources from archos firmware 2.4.65
    - Fixed correct rotation for A101, only bootmenu is still upsidedown.
    - GPS working for gen7 devices
    - some other small things

    Tips:
    1) Playing youtube videos on CM fail with standard player http://pastebin.com/YAZc0z74 , but can be done with mobo player or mx player by using for example opera mobile and setting the user agent to desktop.

    Degu release

Updated first post with Degu release

This will probably my last release for CM7 on gen7 and gen8. I now want to invest some time into a linux distro on gen8. Thanks everyone for the support. I hope you enjoy my latest Degu :)

No not yet, it is hard to find out where it comes from. My best guess this far is that some voltage gets turned off/on when going into/coming out of standby that is causing the click.
It is also hard to debug with adb, going into standby disconnects the usb serial connection, so I have todo it with log files and terminal app which slows the process down.

    divx118

It seems I solved the cracking sound by patching the standby function in the alsa module. http://dev.openaos.org/ticket/223
As always it will be in the next release, which will hopefully follow soon. :)
