If you unplugged it then you interrupted your backup and its probably corrupt. Mouse over the backup options and read the tooltips, you will see that a data/media backup is better for shared data.

Is it normal that when I unplugged it, it said backup complete (and it said something like confirmed backup for apps and data)?

Yeah, my script is waiting for the process to finish. By pulling the plug it effectively terminates the process and therefore my program thinks its done and gives you the completed message. The reason it was taking forever is because shared data is all you pics/music/videos etc. Its a lot of stuff and the process is very slow, if you set it down and came back later it would have completed eventually. You are much better off not including shared data in your backup though and doing a data/media backup instead.

yeah its asking for password when try to unlock

*trying to fix now*

Can you try updating the toolkit and trying again. Now the toolkit should grab the latest 2.4.2.0 TWRP - maybe that will work properly now. There is no reason I could see it asking for a password, it makes no sense.

i got it working
i did what the other guy suggested and went to advance tools to launch twrp temporarily again, but when it did, it asked for the password again (u can back out of the password option but it will fail trying to factory reset)

so i just manually went to the stock recovery (hitting power + up volume). then chose factory reset. it passed

im all good now. unlocked and rooted

thanks!! other than that lil hiccup its pretty straight forward and easy to use, just follow the easy prompts.

great program!!!

If you or anyone can reproduce that password screen, could you snap a picture or something and send it to me. I have never seen this, and I am really confused why thats coming up for some of you. There has to be a common denominator if it happens to some people and not others. It would be nice to know what the cause is. Cheers.

yeah im not sure about why either
but for reference, i used a brand new out the box nexus 10, made in the second batch (R32D serial number), and it was on 4.2.1
it just brings you to twrp, with a screen that says "enter password"
i tried to type 0000 lol like it is to pair things, but didnt work
plus i saw no way to like hit enter, for when you are done entering a password
if you back out, you can go all inside of twrp, but when you try to do stuff, like execute factory reset, it will just say failed
hope that helps a bit

I just got my n10 yesterday. I was fiddling around with it and updated to 4.2.2 before I unlocked rooted. Went to use your toolkit (amazing work btw!) and also got the password screen at the TWRP screen. Idk what you need to know, so I'll just tell you everything I did since I got it. Updated to 4.2.2, downloaded your toolkit via goo, selected nexus 10 4.2.2 when prompted, enabled USB debugging, updated drivers using RAW drivers (I'm on Windows 8), followed all the directions step by step, and hit the password screen. Everything seemed to go fine up until that point.

Re: [Toolkit] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.3 [Updated 02/24/13] : Nexus 10 Thread

Man this thing is buggy. Took three tries to get it to stick.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium

... Please elaborate. "This is buggy" doesn't help at all. I have absolutely no way to respond to that.

This is on a fresh win8 installation. This is what I did.
Install your software.
Did the full driver installation..
Clicked unlock
it did its thing got to the unlock bootloader screen on n10 just fine...then when got to "booting into twrp temporary to factory reset is when it asked for password..I actually debated taking a picture but wanted to finish what I started..
so after trying it a couple times each time it asked for the password, frustration hit. so went looking more with software to see if can use different recovery.
so in prefrences switched the temp recovery to cwm touch. yet the unlock process still went to twrp.
so went to advance utilities and was able to launch cwm touch temporary using that.
factory reset in it.
went back to main screen of your software
clicked root..and was able to finish up the process..

sorry havent got on gchat...sick kids make life difficult :) but wanted to get little more in depth on my process and what os i was using

Ok, I will switch that step to use CWM explicitly, as it seems to be a valid fix. Thanks for the information.

Device product is 'grouper'.
Update requires 'tilapia'.

I have no clue what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have a Nexus 7 wifi device and you have the toolkit set to Nexus 7 3G device. You are attempting to flash an incompatible file.

Thanks! Worked like a charm for me on a Windows 8 vm in Parallels on a Mac! :)

Unlocking, rooting, relocking and unrooting simplified! (and much more!)

VERSION 2.1.4 - This program will automatically bring together all the files you need to unlock and root your device in a few clicks, or flash it back to stock and re-lock it. You can also use this program to backup/restore all your important data, flash zips, set file permissions, push and pull files, install apps, generate logcats/bugreports, and much more! With the included file association options, you can perform tasks like flashing zips, installing apps, restoring android backup files, and flashing/booting img files with just a double click! The program includes a full featured interface for automating tasks in TWRP, enhanced restore features, an in-built auto-updater/notification system, ‘any build’ mode, advanced restore features,’NRT- Live Log’ for viewing the adb/fastboot cmds that are run in the background, quick tools utilities, and tools for taking screenshots/screen-recordings. All the latest official Android builds and Nexus devices are supported. The program intelligently and selectively downloads the files it needs for your device and makes sure you are using the latest files available. The program can even auto-detect your device and build. This release brings full Marshmallow root support plus all automated features by utilizing a new system that no longer requires modified boot.imgs. Check out the updated changelog for a more comprehensive breakdown of the feature set and changes in this release.

~ my goal for this project is make the entire process as smooth and simple as possible ~

If anyone starts bootlooping for longer than 5 minutes after an unlock than you need to factory reset.

    1. Hold down the power button to shut the device off
    2. Restart the device holding all three buttons (vol up and down + power button)
    3. In bootloader mode, switch the big green START to the red RECOVERY using the volume buttons
    4. Enter stock recovery by pressing the power button
    5. You will see an android on its back
    6. Press Vol up + power button at the same time to enter the stock recovery menu
    7. Select "Factory Reset" with the volume buttons and press the power button to initiate it.
    8. After the factory reset your device should boot up normally.

TWRP fails here too. What did you do to fix the problem? I cant seem to get anything to work!

This is what I have to do after the first twrp factory reset fails:

    1. Properly and completely turn off your device.
    2. Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power keys until the device powers on. You should see an image of an Android icon lying on its back.
    3. Press Volume Down twice until the screen says “Recovery mode.”
    4. Press Power to restart into “Recovery mode.” You should see an image of an Android with a Red triangle after a few minutes.
    5. Tap Volume Up key while hold and press Power button.
    6. Use the volume keys to scroll to “wipe data/factory reset” and press Power to comfirm.
    7. Use the volume keys to scroll to “Yes – erase all user data” and press Power to confirm.
    8. Your device will reboot itself after the data wipe completed.

Are you going to update "[Toolkit] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit" to install Root and Recovery with version 4.3?

    Yes, by tomorrow.
