Yeah I also use the LauncherPro swipe gestures. My farthest right 2 icons on the dock both pull down the notifications...I don't have to be very accurate, just swipe anywhere on the right side. This also works great on big phones where it can be a stretch to get your thumb up to the top quickly.
All I want now after being rooted and adeo (redux) installed is the black notification bar! Bah that's all I need to be complete haha.
I made a notification bar theme for personal use. Mixed with minimal icons and gingerbread battery. I'll post up the framework-res if i see enough people are interested!

Good idea on the notification bar theme mate as the Motoblur one is just plaing ugly and icons are disgusting lol.

Where do you find the framework-res.apk?
Yes. Hide the launcher bar and use your app drawer icon. select swipe gesture for that icon to pull down the notification bar.

Where did you get the battery icon?
Most of the theme, including battery icons come from Scarlet Theme in Vibrant sub-forum!

Icons and wallpaper were from the ultralinx blog which I can't link to since i'm new, but I found it from this website.
