Hello crypter
To explain my problem:
I use gps as a race logger for hanggliding races. I use a nice stand alone gps for it, but I´m also using the phone as a backup. there are nice flying logger for free out there. I use gaggle that also can give you real tracking on a server, and sometimes xcsoar.
The problem with the offset is that all the pilots have syncronized gps devices that shows the start of the race. If you have a wrong time showing then you would start before or after everybody.
The other issue would be that your recorded tracklog will reflect the wrong time, so it can show you winning a task when you came into goal on second place, even for a minute (if the offset is that big by that time).
On standard gps usage, such as google maps, google navigation, sygic, copilot, or anything like it, or even for getting the gps possition for geotagging, the wrong time information is not that relevant. Even then, when you are using the car gps software to be on time on an appointment, and the time is just plain wrong, then your ETA would not reflect the correct time neither.
That´s basically the consecuense, therefor my necessity to have a workaround.
I started a thread on the upper forum with a little more explanation on the problem, and some local tests that I did to be sure that there´s an issue on my gps time on the Inspire 4G.
I´m gonna test it on other Inspire 4G phones, with different roms.
