Isn't Touchwiz just the Samsung stock UI? How would that impact data speeds when using a non-stock ROM? Wouldn't that also mean that moving the 720T to any non-stock ROM would result in loss of data speeds?
In my experience yes, but I was simply talking about the fact that there really aren't any AOSP ROMs that are made specifically for the L720T, meaning they probably don't have the drivers for triband LTE.Isn't Touchwiz just the Samsung stock UI? Sorry for late reply. On vacation out of state for a couple of weeks.Well that's a real bummer. :-/ Guess I won't bother. Thanks for the information!
Just wanted to point out here ktoonez kernel found here:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2297379
Supports cm12(android 5.0.x) with CPU and gpu over clocking with voltage control and more is working on L720T ok3. For me so far.
In case anybody like me islooking for oc kernel for this phone and couldn't find one, like me.
With CPU oc to 2.1ghz on performance governor phone seems cooler than every other kernel I have tried on performance gov on stock frequency.
Thread says kernel only support i9505 though.
Spark does work on aosp Roms the l720t was merged in to the jfltespr trees long ago I have one and had no issues with it before I changed to different device we (Octos) have a spark tester and he gets his spark speeds alsoIn my experience yes, but I was simply talking about the fact that there really aren't any AOSP ROMs that are made specifically for the L720T, meaning they probably don't have the drivers for triband LTE.
Added the below paragraph to the ROMS section if the op;Spark does work on aosp Roms the l720t was merged in to the jfltespr trees long ago I have one and had no issues with it before I changed to different device we (Octos) have a spark tester and he gets his spark speeds also

If I recall correctly, the one thing that does not work is WiFi calling. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Not to get involved but why not use Wicked-X Rom for L720T. I got spark and everything else that I need. Just wondering?

You are correct that's built in to Samsung dialer frameworks and carrier provisionIf I recall correctly, the one thing that does not work is WiFi calling. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks. I know it is not important to everyone. However, it is important for me. Too many times with Sprint, I have been in a dead cell zone and only a WiFi signal available. You are correct that's built in to Samsung dialer frameworks and carrier provision

YepQuick question!! If I freeze an application in Rom Toolbox and don't have any issues with how device operates (recommended application's) is it safe to uninstall?? Backed up of coarse and is a system App. Been frozen for months? Thanks

With any luck this link will pop up in the OP. YouTube user "Shark Jungle" tests and reviews a plethora of ROMs for the i9505 S4 - these are the ROMs which work on our L720T. I'm pretty sure he even has a triband himself. Guy is obviously not a native English speaker and his cadence is a bit slow, but he's totally understandable and his videos play beautifully at 1.5x speed.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1agHh-E-wcmOtc25FN0cPg
He's VERY responsive to comments and questions posted on his videos. None of the "go read the 600 page XDA thread for answers" kind of responses you come to expect from XDA users - if you want to know which ROM has the best battery life, or if a specific ROM has a certain feature, just drop him a line and he very graciously takes the time to give a direct answer.
On the minus side, he doesn't provide external links to the ROMs - meaning you have to do a google search to find download sources. Or maybe it's just my umatrix settings preventing it. Anyway... SJ is an amazing resource regarding ROMs for our phone. AFAIK he hasn't reviewed WickedX or OctOS (the two which seem to be the most plugged in this thread) but I'm fairly certain he would if requested. Go check it out and give the guy thumbs up/subscriptions/whatever YouTube upvotes are; his work really deserves appreciation.
i950x (i9500, i9505, i9507, etc) is the international version(s) of the S4. AT&T is the SGH-i337 and T-Mo is the M919.Thanks for the post. A long time ago I owned a AT&T S4. Again I may be wrong but I think all "i" series S4 phones (i9505, etc) are AT&T phones, and this is a SPH 720T thread (SPH-720T).
If I am correct and Shark-Jungle only tests ROMS on AT&T GS4s per your description, then I am not sure we want to add this to the OP.
I'm only a stock flasher and a locked SPRINT user so my experience is limited.
If anyone can enlighten me, I am listening, and love to learn more.

Pretty sure there's a hardware component to the "triband functionality" otherwise I would be able to run L720T ROMs on my L720.The L720T is simply a sprint-branded i9505 with select firmware tweaks to allow "triband" functionality. What follows is a list of all the S4 model numbers to demonstrate the false diversity:
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (3G)
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (LTE)
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505G (Google Play Edition)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 (Verizon USA)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SPH-L720/L720T (Sprint CDMA)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-R970 (USA, US Cellular)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-M919/M919N (USA T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 (USA AT&T)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-R970C (Cricket)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-R970X (C Spire)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-M919V (Canada)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M (Canada)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A SHV-E330S (SK Telecom)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE SHV-E300L (Korea)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE SHV-E300K (Korea)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE SHV-E300S (South Korea)
Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos GT-I9502 (China)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I959 (China Anycall)
Samsung Galaxy S4 TD-LTE GT-I9507
Samsung Galaxy S4 TD-LTE GT-I9507V (China)
Samsung Galaxy S4 SC-04E (Japan)
Obviously, these 21 flavors don't all have different hardware loadouts. Most variants mainly just handle different regional network types and bands. Hardware-wise there are only a handful of different versions due to things like dual SIM slots and Snapdragon vs. Exynos processor.
Pretty sure there's a hardware component to the "triband functionality" otherwise I would be able to run L720T ROMs on my L720.
STOCK ROOTED ROMS1) ROMs working well:

Followings are reported working by others in this thread:

1.6) SuperS4 (#80): the newest SuperS4 does have the spark icon.
1.7) BeanStalk ROM (4.4.4) : It's completely stable and has just about every possible customization baked right into the ROM including xposed installer.

1.9) PacMan ROM (4.4.4):
1.10) Mahdi ROM (says digital roaming instead of Sprint but works perfectly)
2) Roms Not working so well:
2.1) Sacs_Custom_Rom_V3_NG2_9_24_14 : Wifi not working. ktoonez kernel fixes WiFi but with lag. The issue might be modem specific.
2.2) [ROM] [ jfltespr ][ Feb 10 ] AICP - 8.0 - LP 5.0.2_r1 | OFFICIAL NIGHTLIES: Phone runs warm / battery drain
2.3) 【5.0.1】Google Play Edition 【JFLTE-GPE】, 2-23-2015 build: Phone runs warm / battery drain
