Re: [KERNEL] Semaphore JB 2.9.9

Ooo so very close to 3.0.0 now :)

Did you ever consider that there might be a 2.9.10 or a 2.23.134?

Personally I think we are far from 3.0.0.

The whole point is moot anyway since there is only one person deciding the numbers and that is neither you nor me.

Hopefully it's like 2.9.7 what comes to battery stamina. I've had 3-day charge cycles with that version with moderate use first time since ages.

BTW is it possible to have the BigMem Patch downloadable to the OP?

Hi guys!

Sorry if someone has already asked solutions about this but I can't find answers.

I just wanted to know the difference between a kernel x.x.x and a kernel x.x.xs.

I'm running the backed blackbean ROM and I flashed 2.9.9s kernel this morning.

Thank you

the "s" versions offers more available ram but you need the flash the modded hugemem libs which are here. if you don't flash it, you will lose 720p recording. if you wanna try bigmem (via semaphore manager) which will give you even more ram, you need to disable 720p recording via camera settings. there are some drawbacks to the "s" version like some very rare video types won't work on it (like almost no-one uses them anymore). other than that, there are no drawbacks.

Chill beans mate, was just abit of friendly banter.
Of course I considered that, but feel free to go back and check the past release history. On top of 7 of the last 10 releases being within the 2.9.0 range, no release to date has had a 0.0.00 tag. I purely made an educated decision, and a light hearted one at that. Perhaps it's you who needs to take something into consideration?

Of course the number version doesn't matter, it's the substance that does. But surely a few people around here will get a kick out of v2 becoming v3, even if it's just for aesthetic purposes.

Did it again now, got 2721. also in the open gl 2.0 part, I got around 11 fps, I normally get 5 or 7. I have an old movinand device.

Edit: did it a third time to be sure and I got 2319. Maybe it did glitch out.

As you said, version number doesn't matter.
Although, I never used 2 digits in versioning, I don't know if I will make it 3.x.x. Maybe I will make it 2.9.10.

Maybe, I will change the versioning to just a build number... Currently build number is 781. And as far as I remember I had reset the build counter when it was about 200. So, maybe I will release the build #1000 Semaphore. :)

The beans are chilled! Didn't mean to sound harsh, just trying to open up some possibilities for reasoning. Clearly, those possibilities were already open to you. Let's hope someone else may have benefited from my message.

Cheers!

Handsfree button action is a matter of kernel??

Stratosk: Great work again...antutu goes high and general use is little smoother I think!!
Thank you once more:)

how do you guys get so high scores? I have MoviNand with SlimBean 4.2.1 RC2 , 409MB RAM, tweaked smartassV2, 120% LiveOC, SIO, SD Card Read ahead 512KB, I get maximum 4367 after a few tests and 1602 on 3D.

Sweep2wake for i9000 possible?

In the interest of saving old buttons on old phones, would it be possible (useful even) to add a sweep2wake on the i9000? It could be as simple as when a keypress on one is followed by a keypress on the other (in quick succession that is) it would wake the phone up or put it to sleep.

I don't know if those keys can only be interpreted as pressed or not pressed or if the whole movement is available. Clearly, one would have to take into account that the middle key would not register touch event, nor should it need to be pressed for this to work.

If there is a case where the back button needs to be pressed quickly followed by the menu key (or vice versa), then this is a bad idea.

Now people, start your engines and begin the flaming! =)

You should get more than 2000 score in GPU!! I get 4200 without OC on Antutu? Are you sure your liveOC is stable? You tested really with semaphore and liveOC with normal OC i also would get this resutl.

Thanks everybody for your words and your support!
Your huge support and interest about Semaphore makes me want to try even more for something better.

Maybe it's not obvious, but I'm working hard on this project. Last weeks, I try more to expand my knowledge and contribute to Linux kernel.
As I said, this may not have immediate affect in Semaphore versions. But I hope for some results in near future.

Semaphore is here. I'm here. Semaphore will not stop. I will try to contribute to Linux kernel, through this project. Maybe using other device, but with the same goals.

    Thanks again for everything.
