Okay guys, any results?

In the past with radios I had no results (on E4G for instance) but I sure did this time.

On the newest radio I got the lowest signal strength and the lowest data speeds.

On the stock radio. I got better signal strength and better data speeds.

On the oldest radio I get the same signal strength as stock but the fastest data speed. All 3g, 4g is a bad joke around here so I just update to latest and forget about it.

Keep in mind that none of these differences are staggering, but, they are noticeable. My signal sucks no matter what, I'm talking about difference between 0 bars and the first 2 bars. Though speed is a difference between 400-600kbps and 800-1400kbps(!)

Has anyone tried to flash the firmware zip from the .7 OTA in HBOOT?

I too suffered with the bad 3G signal, until I did the PRL hack and am using 00001 PRL...........I'm getting a lot of bars where I only received 0-1 bar. Of course I'm data roaming all the time but it's worth it.

Very strange, updated both the radio and wimax and now I don't have 3g or wimax. Both connect but neither pass data.

Tried resetting data (##3282#) but problem remains.

Ideas?

are you getting that error 16 message when you try to place a call? If you are, just call a number and stay on the line. It will say the message twice and then transfer you to a representative that will do some network tweaks, have you shut your phone off for 30 seconds, then turn back on. that did the trick for me.

Has anyone tried to flash the firmware zip from the .7 OTA in HBOOT?

Honestly, I've had two Android phones, and never seen nor heard of a firmware update via a zip or otherwise...where can I read up, download, etc about that/them?

I have known about the option such as prl update, profile and the firmware update, but I've never had to use it....nor have I seen it discussed in a forum.

I can confirm your results. I flashed the pre release radio and while my signal strength remains about the same as stock radio (1 bar at home), my 3g speeds are noticeably better.

So if the leak doesn't have Wimax how do we get Wimax to work? I'm on the newest radio but if I can get better speeds with the prerelease then ill flash it. I live in a very good 4G area so that not working is not good for me.

3g and wimax radios are independent of each other.

The leak only contains the 3g radio...it won't affect your wimax radio. You can stay with stock wimax radio or flash the one from the update.

I'm running the leak .0513 3g radio and the wimax 29047 radio from the update.

These radios are for the CDMA HTC Evo 3D (e.g. Sprint).
Do NOT flash these radios on a GSM HTC EVO 3D!

    Code:
/* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or the end of the world. Please do some research
     * if you have any concerns about flashing a radio before flashing it!
     * YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the
     * finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. */

    How to Flash:

In order for this to work, the HTC Evo 3D needs to be S-OFF. Flashing the radio with a corrupt file or interrupting the flash, can brick the device, please proceed with caution.

    1. Download the your choice of radio for the HTC Evo 3D.
    2. Make sure the filename is PG86IMG.zip exactly or it will not work and copy it to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
    3. Connect the HTC Evo 3D to the computer via USB.
    4. On the computer, open terminal and run the following commands:
      Code:
      adb push PG86IMG.zip /sdcard/PG86IMG.zip
      adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PG86IMG.zip
NOTE: The md5 should match up the provide the original download location. If not, redownload & try again.
      Code:
      adb reboot bootloader
    5. The HTC Evo 3D will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
    6. The bootloader will scan for the radio update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
    7. Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated radio, and reboot the HTC Evo 3D normally.

How do you check what radio you are on?

    Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software Information>More

Radio is listed as "Baseband" ;)
