CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.1 (Jellybean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

THIS IS A PREVIEW BUILD, NOT AT ALL MEANT FOR DAILY USE.
Though i still use it as my daily driver.

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at any of us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
 * Collectively, and at the same time.
 */

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Instructions:

Seems pretty good so far

Google Now works for me. I can install apps. I'll run this as my daily for battery observation. Now just need the tab settings and onscreen buttons.

Overall nice work .

While I hope for those who want it can get the on screen buttons...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD make one where there are NO on screen buttons as well... I hate to waste screen space on the onscreen buttons when I have them on my device, as well as MANY applications including Grand Theft Auto 3 and more that doesn't, and probably cant ever have a fullscreen feature that hides them due to how the application functions!

Hey cdesai thanks that you port the jelly bean to our tab :) but will cyanogenmod 10 be 240dpi or 160dpi?, because Google said that 240 dpi is optimized for 7 inch tablet in android 4.1.1.

    Got some news, OMX is finally working :)

    For those who didn't get it, it means video encoding / decoding is fine, so Camera (only video recording, still image capture still borked) works fine, and so does YouTube and other video players.

    Gonna test some kernel changes, and get them in before releasing a new build.

    ohai guise

    Just merged all of the changes from the crespo OTA, and i have to say, it does feel much more smoother.

    Gonna test it for a few and then upload, stay tuned.

    Good news everyone :D

    Merged most of the pending changes for p1, everything is much more smooth now, with a few kernel changes / reverts and the new partition layout :)

    Official CM10 Nightlies shall start soon :)

    If you feel that the data partition is smaller, there are various apps on the Play Store for overcoming that, and as for moving it to /system, there are solutions for that too (let me know if anyone is interested and i'll let you know how to keep that data between updates).

    Kangers, i request you to stop releasing builds with the old layout since that's only increasing fragmentation.
    This is much smoother, which is why we switched over.
