Great ROM

so far i have no problems! I think this might have been mentioned before, just that LED notifications seem to happen sporadically.

Is there a setting for them somewhere? i do recall seeing in in a earlier ROM if i am not mistaken.

Thank you again for a great ROM

Using Franco Kernel R14 - Ridiculously smooth and fast !

Awesome thanks! After installing the new update clean I have the stock lock screen back. Idk if maybe it's because I haven't touched the lock screen settings but this is perfect for me. Thanks!

i wish when new features are added, notably ones in navbar this time, the ways to restore back to the original / the ability to turn off those features be added.

i am not saying i am not grateful about how you are improving but there are just a few things that I wish to make more subtle. :)

Which things would you want off for first flash? :)

Hey!

Thanks for the new thread and the great rom! Can you add flashing instructions for other rom and update instructions from xylon? I never know what I should flash, gapps or not, cache dalvik and when... Thanks!

I will get the OP updated. Was rushed before work and so I didn't look at all the details ;)

Yup there is an option in Settings>Display>Enable Pulse Light> then play around :) But you may have found that already.

If you go under Settings --> Display -->Pulse Notification Light and from there you can adjust the settings and customize the color.

Is the camera freezing issue resolved in this build and the applications lagging when you try to access them?

I haven't had that issue so I can't comment. But I am sure any lags should no longer be an issue :)

So theoretically, can you add a setting to wipe cache settings for Xylon Lockscreen and Lockscreen would be back to stock? Is there a way to wipe this setting without interfering with other settings?

I hate requesting for things in Roms but I'm wondering. Is it possible to add the cm10 percentage battery by any chance? The one with a number and tiny battery next to it. I like that one a lot and its the only thing I miss from them. If not its kool. I'll just use what's there.

That's so weird. That's the only battery icon I miss. Hahaha.

I will look into it :)

Try that but I am not sure, as its also the lock screen that would retain the setting and that's part of framework.

There's gotta be a way to get stock lockscreen functionality back. Maybe a checkable option in slide unlock settings whether to have multiple apps/targets or not.

Out of curiosity, are there plans for enabling multiple users in this ROM? (not sure how useful it would be considering the limited storage space on this device...)

why would you EVER trust anyone with your precious N4?!

On a serious note.. it would be impractical because then whoever use your phone would also receive and make calls/texts with YOUR number

Maybe they want to share with a spouse or something. People have their reasons (not me personally, but all the same). I only asked as a matter of curiosity.

I am there. Where you looking ;)

As for users being ported, I am sure it will be at some point but not by me :) I see the use for it but I wouldn't know where to start with that work. Just started java etc as I am a c#, SQL man for work. :)

I am still waiting for my N4 and in the meantime noticed this ROM. Are there any disadvantages or non-working functions with this ROM compared to the stock ROM? Referring to stability, battery life and hardware support.

It is definitely an improvement over stock with no disadvantages. Really stable and battery life is excellent. I use Franco's kernel but you can use whichever you want :)

Its great to see you finally got your own thread! Thanks for making these updates. This ROM is great, and is a beast with Franco kernel.

Just flashed the update and its so much faster and smoother. Thanks again.

I am building it now. :)

Until there is a concrete person to maintain these and I am told to f*** off I will continue to keep them coming. No one should be left with an out of date ROM because of a decision I made.
    28
I also have a lot of respect for Roman, but Xylon clearly has better battery life. So you guys can't just be "rebranding", you must be doing something right.

Before I offend anyone (and I imagine this will), let me just say that mister benjamin.j.goodwin, scar45, remicks and I are on excellent terms, I respect those guys a lot (they were the ones that started FNV which is what Xylon is based off of IIRC).

Here's where some issues start, and it's way more complicated than I could ever put into words:

If Xylon has such amazing battery life, I would really like its developers to tell me why, or what they did different. But I haven't heard anything from anyone other than bjg. All I see from my perspective is this:

    https://github.com/XYAOSP/frameworks_base/commit/7a09efeddec9ce1338866449af9311ad6dfb5c6f
    https://github.com/XYAOSP/frameworks_base/commit/6af4b38f1ec1b1d48bb8465d98f94851f09f81c5
    https://github.com/XYAOSP/frameworks_base/commit/8c87438aaa160b2808f6767ab88ccbe60d25f474
    https://github.com/XYAOSP/frameworks_base/commits/jellybean

And I'm really not picking on Xylon here, I promise. This happens ALL the time. With every ROM. Here is another favorite example of mine: https://github.com/DroidTh3ory/plat...mmit/a31017c08d47c840b5718ad3065a4773dc96cb30 -- and these things happen all over the place, and it's to be expected to be honest.

So when other ROMs borrow features from AOKP, PA, CM, whatever, that's awesome. That's what this whole community is about. The issues start is when they borrow X feature, and fix a bug in it, and all the sudden, their ROM is 100000x better than any other ROM. While we're still doing our own thing, we have no idea that the feature has been implemented somewhere else or that it's been fixed.

Furthermore, with this whole Transparent Nav bar thing. I was working on it for 3 days (and I'm talking about sleeping, pooping breaks in between, sometimes even eating). I had initially decided to keep the feature "private" until I could get everything working and let people play with it. However, after finishing up final touches o it, I decided to go ahead and publish it, this was around 4AM and then I went to sleep. I wake up, and not only had Xylon cherry-picked this feature (which was not complete) but they did a WHOLE new release of the ROM with it by 5AM. I was pretty insulted and kind of mad, I needed someone to hold my hand and wipe my tears.

Another big issue I have is that people will try AOKP, and find some broken feature, and just move on to Xylon, CM, PA, whatever, and not even tell me it's broken and then rage about how much AOKP sucks.

So I read this all the time, "I have lots of respect for Team X, but their ROM ****ing sucks! You guys have taken their best features and made them 10000x better."

Apologies in advance for anything this starts, but it needed to be said.

All that said, if you enjoy Xylon, please, keep using it.

    New Build is up.

    It's 015 with merges from 016B1 so you're up to date. :D

flipzmode - He is your new maintainer. :)

I am sure he will pop in and say hi etc. We will make sure the thread is switched over as well. Of course I will pop in and have a look at stuffs time to time. :cyclops:

Hey all! I'm very happy to be taking over for benjamin! But it will definitely be bittersweet to see him go. He has done an amazing job of maintaining this build and the thread. I have big shoes to fill, but I'm excited to do it. But as he said, I will definitely be leaning on him for a little bit during the initial handoff. :) Thank you benjamin! :victory:
