Just flashed test16 - no SOD with SD card in dock! Previously, it was happening as soon as the screen went off. Great!!

Hi,
can you add HDMI support for LG TVs to your kernel? I want to connect my TF to pc with miniHDMI connector, but its doesnt work. But t work with my projector, i used special kernel in HC,but in ICS its doesnt exist yet.
Thanks

I have a 42 inch lg setup that works. Android Revolution 3.2 and has worked on all guevor so far.

Wifi doesn't turn off when screen goes off. Kernel problem?

ARHD 3.2.0 test 14

Gone back to test 13 and it's working again. Kernel problem it is (probably).
I have it set to be the wifi always on, so I have not tried. Can anyone confirm that?
I agree. Overclocking is hit-miss with ICS. I don't know if just having OC ABILITY in kernel changes it, or ACTUALLY overclocking after flashing makes it unstable. If the kernel oc is "fixed" then it maybe a bigger problem.

My 2.5 cents......

Thanks, anyways.
Not sure if the default settings of 1.2Ghz causes trouble to someone, but it could take another version booting at 1GHz (although I would prefer not to have two versions). However, if one sets to work a maximum of 1 GHz (eg with set cpu) the result is the same as having a limited kernel to 1Ghz
Can confirm ervery single USB device is now working with test15 :p
Great work mate ! Iwas trying to solve problems myself and build your kernel from source, but I only managed fixing USB, you did much more !

And btw, you can compile on your tablet ;) . Just include all needed cross compile commands in your PATH and do it using a terminal emulator. i did this once on my Sammy Galaxy 3.

Or chroot linux and vnc to it. I think wyse pocket cloud is the best solution, gives the best performance for me.
That can be compiled into the tablet does not mean it is comfortable. If I had no choice .. it is clear that I would use, but if only have the tablet is probably because I have not much time;).
guevor thanks for the new test15...
Have a nice trip..
wish I could send my private jet for your trip.. lol :D
That would have been nice
USB is working fine now, no more hangs when I connect my external keyboard. The only issue I'm still having is the HDMI switch not working. It doesn't matter if I select crop or scale mode, the HDMI output will always be scaled. But that's an issue I can live with :D

Unfortunately I have only one screen and does not have hdmi, only dvi which does not work with the tablet (I tested with an adapter).
Anyway, although I can not prove it, will try to take a look later.
Just a side note..
It used to be Dock+SD card = batt drain on previousRoms/kernels.refer to Roach for more info, as it was a well documented bug.

Could give me a link? As I do not use SD card (I use a 32Gb microsd, the SD only for testing), had ignored this problem, but if something can be done, would be well to review it.
Is anyone else having problems with bluetooth on test13? (I'm on AOKP).

EDIT: Changed to misticninja and works... definitely the kernel then
It work for me, so I guess it will be something related to the start of services. I will check it out.
I encounter several reboots since i flash test15. It seems the problem is somewhat with the wifi.
I found the connection was down, then i looked into the wifi status in the setting. It told me to turn on the wifi even it was turned on. Then i tried to turn it off then turn on. Nothing change, still told me to turn on the wifi. Then after several minutes, it rebooted.
It's something to review, but need to know the rom, if you use dock, sd card and if it continues happening with the latest version.
Waiting your return i would suggest for next Test 16 to insert "TCP_VENO" that increase Connection Speed and SD reading/write (some users said that on TestyMeh topic). I was thought..why don't you sign a parnership with msticninja, Blades, Clemsyn and other for create a single super-kernel? This can reduce the frammentation and allow to meet much more perfection and features (and also a constantly upgrade with much more pause for you) :) maybe Sinergy is the correct word :)
I think it is right to propose their own projects, but working as a team is another story..i'm talking about a draft joint implementation, a team that offers the synergistic force of their work..i am perhaps too much idealistic? In any case, perhaps you are right about Veno, i was intrigued by its implementation and i reported it here. In any case, perhaps it is easier than you think..you open a topic, planning, brainstorming, merge and divides knowledge into the field of work = super kernel :) they will continue to develop their projects. A super kernel would have a single job for more ideas, like a racing car built by a sport's team. I think it could give very interesting implications..why not try?

I believe that in the case of free software, if they update their repositories I could use his improvements and vice versa. Maybe working more in common could be done better, but teamwork requires compromise, and compromise one's free time, may not be as interesting.
I think guevor's aim is to learn the programming, not to spend a lot of time to make a consolidation and communications with other smart guys for super kernel creation.
Thank you, guevor, anyway!
That's not very accurate. Learning to program, well, after over 23 years programming, always learn things, but more related to the particularities of each case that programming itself. As for collaboration, I have always been available, I strongly believe in free software and that working on the work of others is how you reach unimaginable goals.
Any topic that interests me and where I think I can contribute something, try to do, and I often do, from the Linux kernel, resynthesizer, smalluxgpu, blender to octane exporter, LiVux and other projects.
Anyway, I'm available.
Guevor,

Thank you for this amazing Kernel. Can I suggest that you properly name your creation? Perhaps something in your native language? I can see "test" being appropriate when it was first being made, but I think it's to the point where you want to give it an identity. Give it a name! If you are undecided, make a poll on XDA with a bunch of options, and let the people decide!

I'll think. Although a kernel is a kernel, maybe you're right. I accept suggestions.

On the latest CM9 nightly wifi doesn't work. There was no way I could get it to work.
Have you tried ricardopvz mod?, You can find the link on the third post.

Could you tell me which kernel used, if available the changes he did, they could apply on mine, otherwise it would be more complicated, because as indicated earlier, I can not test the hdmi.
I have a report concerning the SOD issue that you may want to try to replicate. If my dock runs down to 3% charge and the SD card is installed, I get SOD. Otherwise, if I keep the dock charge level above 5%, I'm fine.

sent from my TF101 running IceCreamHeadache v1.1 via Tapatalk 2
I've been using mine, even to 0% and I've not noticed difference, has tested whether the same happens with the latest version?
Had my first SOD today on stock ICS with test15 kernel (not overclocked). Was hoping this new kernel would have fixed the issue.
There are multiple causes, and I have been reducing them, but I doubt that it is not any more.
Havent you had any job request yet?? Your awesome!
Thanks and no, no offers :(, the truth is that my current job is poorly paid and does not reach half-time which is good for you, but for me not so much.

guevor,
Will review for you tomorrow and link into the sources.
it was on Roach's roms and Kernals (Blades\Roach's) that it was a confirmed problem..
thus, a Android/Asus coding problem with circuit draw from the Dock SDcard..

honeslty.. not your problem.. as personally I would prefer you to crack the " Veno" thing.. if it is actually improves out input/output on our android(linux) based OPS.

As a person that has lived and worked with Programmers on unix & Linux back in the late 90's around Menlo Park and SRI..(hanging with the guys that were building the "packet" protocols)
I understand that the "Mass" coding of most OPS is geared towards "throttling'" the consumer so that the telecom (which carry the band width burden) can extract the most from the downstream consumer.. )
this thought pattern carries on into the down stream units that we use in our house holds today..its a long conversation.. but.. personally I feel.. there is some tweaking that could go into obtaining a better input/output of speeds used in our devices that are running Android (Hybrid Linux) architecture.

As a note: can we have some input on "actual" speed test programs used..
In fact.. we should really pull this conversation out of of the individual kernel threads so that there is a clear analytical comparison's.
If both of the developers don't mind. we should have a thread in general where users can post..before and after screen shots and or Rom/Kernel speeds.. as this is truly of concern not only to TF101 users but to Android users as a whole..

Edit: opened a thread in general on it.. http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=25141353&postcount=1

It sometimes takes a while to screen on after you press the power button. I thought it had SoD'd, but luckily i just removed the tablet from the dock, and then it woke up - maybe it was just a coincidence.

Other than that, wi-fi speed seems the same, maybe a bit slower. Odd.

Using test16 with revolver 4 rc1, no oc.

you can switch on the fly between "veno" and "reno" to test if there is a difference

back to precious used "reno":

Code:
echo "reno" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_congestion_control
or back to default "veno" of test16

Code:
echo "veno" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_congestion_control

Was fine with test15 for over 70 hours before switching to test16.
Has been fine with test16 for 14 hours. Docked all the time at 1.2 GHz max. Screen wakes up almost instantaneously from sleep. WiFi seems to connect faster than test15 when waking up. Did not test with SD in dock.

Very stable kernel with Revolver 4.0.0 RC1. Thanks Guevor for kernel.

EDIT: Sorry, as we speak, Murphy's Law kicked in - My TF took a few seconds to turn on the screen from sleep. Hmm...

With test16, the tab takes some seconds to wake up. This didn't happen with test15
I can confirm this observation; so back to test 15 with megatron 1.04.

The wait is going sometimes to wake up is part of the new mechanism to prevent SOD. I think it's best to wait a few seconds to wait forever. Anyway, if we see it works, will try to optimize it, reducing time and when happens.
As always, if an earlier version not failed you, is your decision to stop using it.

Initially the idea of this kernel was to test some things to see if it improved stability. I would have liked to start with the kernel of Blades, but I don't found the source of the ICS version, so I started from the official source of asus.
With the versions, more people used my kernel, so the initial idea to make a kernel for my personal needs has become more generic, so to some extent, try to apply the suggestions that other do.

I must make clear that this kernel does not exist without the work of others and thanks to free software. Just trying to be a bit, over a huge pyramid.
Thank Blades, Roach2010, clemsyn for his work and all who have commented for your help.

If you want to donate, there is a button on the left and a link below. Do not feel obligated at all and only in gratitude for my work if that has been useful to you.

Sorry, but I've been sick and I could not use the computer. The truth is that has been a difficult year and seems the doctors did not match with the solution (the problem is aggravated from time to time).
I will try to rest a few days and hope to return with more energy to continue collaborating.

I compiled a new version for CM9 with small changes in the configuration. If someone want to test it, please confirm if it works or not.
I have also compiled another version for JB eos with best compiler options similar to what I use on my other versions (the former was very similar to the configuration used in eos)
Sorry I can not spend more time at the moment but hopefully I can get in a few days another version for other JB rom.
