I had the dinc (1) and I loved that phone. It was the best phone I had ever had until I got my dinc 2. I was a little aggravated when I found out that the dinc 2 had no tv out feature. Even though the tv out on my dinc was not perfect it was functional, and I thought as big of a step up as the dinc 2 is it would have been made better, maybe a little hd out love like the rezound and razr. I just got my dinc 2 on 11/28 and I did not know that there was no tv out until the cable would not fit from my dinc 1 tv out and I did enough research to find the answers.
What I found is that the dinc 2 does not have wired tv out b/c wires will be a thing of the past in the near future. DLNA will replace all of the wired streaming we are still using now so you could say that the dinc 2 is a little ahead of its time, and I think in the future that is how the dinc2 will be looked at.
Here is a rundown of the DLNA capabilities of the dinc2
Ok basically there is no mirroring capability on the dinc2. The good news is that you really do not need it. With DLNA the internet is available through your or any wifi network that you have access to. All you need is a DLNA media player hooked to any tv via avi (standard rca cables) or hdmi. I have the wd tv live player hooked to my tv and my home wifi. That gives me access to netflix, youtube, pandora, tuninradio, and about 20 other of those type web based outlets. The great thing for dinc2 owners is that the dinc2 will interact with the wdtv live player right out of the box, no third party apps needed. You can stream your music files, videos, and pictures from your phone to your tv wirelessly. Simply go to whichever media you want to stream >menu>select player>wd tv (or whatever DLNA media player you have in your network) then you should be up and running(may take 15 seconds to load onto the tv). Do not bother with the apps that are available from the app store for streaming, they are all glitch bags and will not work properly, the dinc2 has all the software it needs built in to interact with any DLNA media player. More and more the external box will become a thing of the past b/c of smart tvs with DLNA built right in. As far as I know there are only two phones on the market with DLNA built in and they are the htc rezound and the htc dinc2. Be glad you own one, it will serve you well in the near future.
The dinc2 is a great phone. I tested it against the 4g droid charge today and it blew it away in everything except the 4g speed vs 3g speed, but this dinc2 is snappy and is not far behind the charge even with a 3g connection. I got my dinc2 in red for free on black friday on vz's website and it is a great phone. I say thanks to 4g and dual core processors hitting the android market for making the best single core 3g android phone available for free. Do the tests on this phone and you will see that it is a fine piece of hardware. I am getting QS scores of over 1500. The 4g samsung charge I tested today got a 952 and the dinc 1 got a 980. I think it is a really good phone with the perfect size beautiful lcd display, srs wow and gen 2 snapdragon processor for a fast interface, the DLNA compatibility only makes it better.
