anytime you have a signature verification error, your in the stock recovery, not clockwork recovery (CWM). If your on a stock rom you must odin cwm recovery, then three finger salute directly into cwm, then flash the kernel as per directions. If you let the phone boot once on a stock kernel then the stock recovery overwrites cwm. I guess I could add this to section 8, but not that many people go thru the trouble you are for a stock rom...it simply does not make sense. Simply flash the deodexed eh03 rom and be done or superclean... I see no advantage to rooting and flashing a custom kernel on stock eh03, with all the eh03 rom options that nitsuj17 has developed for our device. My advice if your hellbent on a Touch Wiz Eh03 rom is to follow section 2 and flash a rom thats worth flashing.

help plz

ok my problem is i flash to jt's ics rom and i was running great up until last night i shut off my phone and turn it back on and it keeps restarting on the samsung boot screen. i ended up flashing back to stock rom then i flashed it to a verizon stock rom when i had a us cellular phone. i flashed it to stock USCC rom and it works fine now the problem.

i can flash to Jt's ICS build 2 but THS build 6.5 that i was using before wont flash neither AOKP ICS build 27 wont flash either. i get as far as to wipe data etc then when its time to flash it, it reboots like normal to go to the flash sequence but it jus hangs at the samsung boot title.... what is wrong??? the only rom i can flash to is THS ics build 2 with no issue but everything else is a problem

New and need help!

Hi all, i'm new to the site and need a little help. I bought my fascinate when they first came out and immediately rooted. unfortunately I haven't updated the firmware(2.1). I was using the guide to go back to stock but unfortunately everywhere I attempted to download EH03 the file appears to have been moved. Ultimately my goal is to update the phone and root again. Unfortunately I had a back up before I rooted but that was on my old pc!

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for the thread! This is really noob-proof! I've only worked with HTC phones and my boss gave me his Samsung Fascinate to fix due to a botched factory restore... This helped me get the job done and now it works perfectly! Thank you again!

It's the same rom as the one on the nexus, so any screens/videos you find should apply. Steve got the fascinate added to gummy source, so we'll have new source-built gummy roms soon and should get the updates along with all the other supported devices.

Also, WHY IS THIS GUIDE NOT STICKIED HERE?! It seems like the only time we get a mod in here is when enyo rears his head..

@Droidstyle:

Just wanted to express my gratitude again for your efforts in setting up this thread and keeping it current. I used section 4 to go from GW 2.x to AOKP M4, followed the instructions exactly, and am profiting greatly.

While I was not surprised that your instructions were right on, going through the process again reminded me of how lost many of us would be without this guide.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Section 6: How to root stock froyo or gingerbread(This is not needed if your flashing a custom rom)

    Downloads these files to PC,

    Samsung drivers- http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25089906/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe

    Odin (computer program)- http://www.mediafire.com/?429fcpdtpckkcea

CWMALL 2.5 (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it)- http://www.mediafire.com/?6x5utoca59et7o9

"su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file (place this file on the root of your sdcard...not within any folders)- http://www.mediafire.com/?38vozx7n37u02a5

Modified stock Froyo kernel (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it). This file is only necessary if you're rooting Froyo. It's not necessary for Gingerbread- http://goo.gl/QCYxT

    Instructions:

    1. Install Samsung drivers on your computer.

    2. Open Odin on your computer. (You may need to disable antivirus programs on your computer and/or phone for this to work properly.)

    3. Power off your phone and remove the battery.

    4. Plug the stock USB cord that came with your phone into a powered USB port on your computer (usually on the back of the computer).

    5. Press and hold the "volume down" button on your phone, and continue to hold it while plugging the USB cord into your phone. This will put your phone into download mode. You'll see a large yellow triangle on the screen of your phone. (Let go of the volume button at this point.) You will also see one of the small boxes in Odin turn yellow, as well as "Added" appearing in the message box.

    6. Click the PDA button in Odin (NOT the PHONE button) and navigate to the "CWM2.5_Voodoo.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier. This file does not include a voodoo kernel and will not perform the voodoo lagfix conversion. It's only named as such to note that it is compatible with voodoo kernels.(make sure auto reboot is unchecked, although it should be by default)

    7. Click START. When this process has finished, you'll be notified in Odin (succeeded 1 / failed 0) and your phone's screen will go blank.

*** Step 8 is only for rooting Froyo. If you're rooting Gingerbread, skip Step 8 and proceed to Step 9. ***

    8. Unplug your phone and click RESET in Odin. Repeat Step 5 to get the phone back into download mode and recognized by Odin. Using the PDA button, navigate to the "stock_kernel.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier, select it, and press START. You'll again be notified in Odin once this process has completed (succeeded 1 / failed 0).

    9. Unplug your phone and re-insert the battery.

    10. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons. While holding them, press the power button. Hold all three simultaneously until you see "SAMSUNG" appear TWICE. This will boot your phone into CWM 2.5 red recovery. If your phone boots up normally here and not into recovery, just wait for it to boot up and then power it down and try again. It may take a couple tries for you to get it right.

    11. Using the volume rocker, navigate down to "Install zip from sdcard." Highlight it and press the power button to select.

    12. Navigate to "choose zip from sdcard" and select with the power button.

    13. Navigate to the "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file that you downloaded earlier and select it. Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select.

    14. When you're advised of completion, press the MENU softkey to go back to the previous CWM Recovery screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."

Ok guys I overhauled section 4...added gb bootloaders, updated gapps link, and removed some redundant steps that were reported no longer necessary. I no longer have a fascinate so Im counting on you folks now to help keep this guide current and up to date on the latest. Thx
