Yes, that is too easy as what you saying will send your phone strait into an unusable state. This kernel is a 2.2 kernel, JH7 is a 2.1 ROM. The two don't mix. I recommend some more research and learning before you go any further modifying your phone. This may sound like a noob question, but after reading every page of this thread, I have not been able to determine what is the ideal installation process for this kernel.
I currently have a rooted JH7 with clockwork mod installed, no lag-fixes installed and a working 3 button recovery. Is the following the correct install process?
1. Make a backup with clockwork.
2. Download setiron_v1.2_bln_with_jpp_modem_update.zip, rename it update.zip and install that package from recovery.
3. Profit.
It seems almost too easy.
What sparker was trying to say while being incredibly rude was that you don't need to rename the .zip. boot into clockwork recovery, not the stock recovery and use the options there to install zip from sd card. Not being rude just being honest. Also if you were to read through the bulk of the threads in any kernel or rom thread you will see these posts all the time and the answers are there.
Actually, what sparker did was probably save this guy from putting his phone into a partially unusable state. He has a 2.1 ROM and was asking how to put a 2.2 kernel on it. If he can't read the forums and or do his own research to discover the difference between kernels, roms, modems, and versioning, he shouldn't be trying to apply a kernel just because it's the latest and greatest thing. The information in these forums can be very dangerous to people who don't understand what's going on and sometimes they just need to be told to go back and read more instead of spoon feeding answers.
