I had the same problem until I cleared the apps data. It wouldn't play nor download, I don't remember the exact message when I tried to download but it was something like "still scanning". I hope that works for you.

I figured it out. When I set the default video quality on 3G... this bug appears.
I mean the default video quality if I don't set it is 144p !! Which is a joke. Every time I've to set it for every single video.
OP please fix this issue otherwise the app is rendered useless as setting a 360p or 720p for every video is tiresome...

How do I install the rooted version without deleting the original one. I tried to move the app to data/app where original one is saved and renamed it to com.google.android.ogyoutube didn't work
