Wow. That is actually the CID # that is generated when it is spoofed. HTC did something similar in terms of locking the CID on the HTC One X android phone. Although the OS is completely different, there was a hack developed to spoof the CID to allow the boot loader to be unlocked. If the spoof was done correctly, the CID # generated was 111111. Just food for thought.

Well both my One X and 8X came straight from HTC. Both their CID are 111111 and my HOX is SOff. I was just hoping my luck would be able to further development.

You probably are lucky. Question is is how HTC is locking the boot loaders on their windows phones. On Android, you get and submit an unlock token to unlock the boot loader. But being that windows is not open source, microsoft wont allow it. It wasn't android that forced OEMs to lock bootloaders, it was the carriers. I think it will be a helluva time trying to find a way to unlock the 8X bootloader. (but in your case, you are good to go..lol)

Just wish some one would start development for the 8x if I knew how I would. But dose seem in the last two weeks or month you Us lot that one of the carriers have released the phone out and development always seem to start state side first before other places so I am hoping it will go in the right direction. I have a UK version and is bloody great can't fault it lol until my screen mashed lol

Anyone found a way to go back to stock? I have an engineering unit with an unlocked bootloader it seems and want to go back to stock.

I can't get updates with the current engineering unit/rom and the battery life seems relatively poor.

Edit: I tried the two Europeans Roms and they failed to flash. Something about the RUU having a low nbh number.

can you let us know how you flash European Rom, I tried with Y-cable method and NOT WORK. I face same problem battery life extremely poor, no FOTA update :( I want to convert the rom to stock too

Unfortunately I wasn't able to flash the European ROM, hence why I am asking if anyone was able to go back to stock.

I believe if someone leaks the At&t RUU, then we will be able to flash it easily (since my unit is a At&t unit) and go back to stock. Unfortunately, the only leaked RUU is European and flashing it might brick our phones.

I follow THIS METHOD, either I made bad Y-cable or I do something wrong, but I followed strictly the guide. NOLUCKS

Yeah. That method with the y cable doesn't seem to work with our engineering unit. All we need is the original custom RUU for our unit.

HTC 8x KeyPress sequences

Alright,

Sssooo the following sequences perfrom the following on my T-Mobile HTC 8x All these assume the phone was off first...:
1. POWER and Volume UP with USB plugged in...release at black screen: Puts the Phone in QHUSB_DLOAD mode. I am assuming that this allows you to flash a bricked device/bad bootloader. I put the drivers on my system and QPST/QXDM sees my 8X as a Q/QCP-XXX (Download) QPST does come with a tool called "QPST Software Download", but It won't let me backup or restore anything because the phone is in Download mode. The "software download" tab will let me browse for a phone image and/or bootloader to flash individually.

2. Press Power and hold vol up: Starts booting, then goes to a LIghtening bolt. A Qualcomm MSM device is detected. Regular USB drivers are installed. Windows reports it as a "WinUSB Device".

3. Press Power and hold volume down: An Exclaimation mark shows up. No USB activity/devices detected. Pressing VOLUME UP > VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN.at this screen will perform a factory reset on the device. Maybe different sequences at this screen will make the phone do different things?

4. Press Power and camera button: Puts the phone in bootloader mode. Windows detects the device as an HTC windows Mobile device. It goes and fetches ActiveSync off of Windows Update and installs it.

With the phone booted into normal mode, some of the standard dialer codes work. From what I have been reading, the Verizon ones have the most exciting menus, the T-Mobile ones are all the same basic hardware test, and the AT&T ones do nothing. They just accept the codes and no apps open.

If someone can figure out how to toss this damn thing into DM mode, I think I can Dump radios, flash firmware, and possibly enable AWS LTE on it! If anyone else has anything else they would like me to try, let me know.

Something interesting I stumbled across on a Spanish site detailing the Lumia 920: the Lightening bolt and Gear mode is used for Recovery Mode flashing from the official Nokia ROM updater tool. In this mode, you can flash any variant you want. Perhaps you guys will have better luck flashing the RUU files with a regular PC and this mode?

Looks like we need to go on the hunt for the HTC version....

Did anything ever come of this?

I got my hands on an ATIV S T899 engineering unit that lets me access all the partitions. It won't boot though and I can't find a ROM to flash to it. Looks like I lost this eBay gamble.

Interesting tidbit: This seems like it was a test device for T-Mobile USA. There is the T-Jingle on it and apparently its model is ODYSSEY_TMOBILE as I found in some files in the Windows directory.

Hi, Guys

For HTC WP easy to DM mode, but maybe you will match driver issue, you can do follow:
##634# -> Diag -> enable diag mode

Please tell me whether QPST recognize your 8x? QPSt not recognize my HTC M8 for windows.

The dump will be online soon, special thanks to the members who helped me get the dump! Without the help of them I wouldn't have do this.

I wanna thank these guys and to all who have posted here..

    E:V:A
    Cotulla
and especially rob243 who will host the dump for the developers to download.

I hope Windows Phone users will benefit to this!

Please check back here in a few days for the dump.

Meanwhile, the engineering HTC 8X loaner device will have to go back to the company soon, too. I would appreciate a little donation from the generous ones out there. Buy me a pizza? Buy me my own 8X? Just hit the donate to me button on the left under my username, or here.

    Thanks all!

I think the full dump is not really needed. The most of the disk space is taken by MainOS partition which is possible to grab from RUU.
But 14Gb is still rather big, it should have most of as zeros or 0xFF inside. It should be compressed rather well.
Also RUU in the adjacent thread is only around 800 Mb.

Because RUU is available, engineering/unlocked device is only useful to get stuffs which are not present inside RUU.

Do not upload dump in public - it may contains IMEI, S/N or other things which can make a problems.

For the work under possible hack it's should be more useful to have regular, locked device - it's purpose to hack it.

This engineering device already can be easy unlocked - it should be enough to activate usb mass storage mode, mount registry hive via regedit32 on PC and edit values in the registry :)

I got one with tons of apps that seems to be for testing. Maybe somehow this will help in the future development of the device? I am not sure how though.

Lucky you, check the hspl/spl to see if it's locked or unlocked. If unlocked, contact the user, I mean The Living Legend called COTULLA and tell him about your phone. Actually, just contact him, he will tell you to do a few things and if someone can help in here, it's him. We owe him the HSPL for HTC WP7 1st and 2nd generation phones and the 1st Titan custom rom (DFT) among other things.
    Thanks for sharing!

what is the ROM version installed on the device?

Wow, this is real HW porn! I posted partition dump instructions in that thread, but I now see that this could be even more useful in the future, for allowing us to have unlocked bootloaders with all engineering features intact. So if you could somehow get us, either a full "disk image" or preferably all of the individual partitions, that would be awesome!

All the tools needed can be found in the links of my footer. It could be that you need to install some additional USB drivers as well.. But we'll see.
