Well i got this problem to.Solved it by using handcent sms.My impression so far with this rom is very good,fast and smooth have to check the battery life.
Nice work...

I did the full data wipe and cleared both caches and that fixed my lag. everything is working so far with the exeption of the messenger as we already know. right now im trying to re enter my manual apn settings so i can use my gsII on Straight talk and everytime i make a new apn, it doesnt save it. (
Im ganna keep working on it

I use my gsII on straight talk as well, do you click menu then save in apn settings?

May need to do a FULL wipe (data,cache and system) when installing this even if on rebelROM 1.1, because it is now based on XLA4, if coming from a XLA4 rom you should be fine.
RebelROM 1.21 released:
Based on XLA4 2.3.6 now
Messaging fixed
