Me too. (Bought from Amazon.de being used in UK.)

Not updated it yet. This does stop you being rooted like the last Prime firmware update, does it?

Should I install OTA Rootkeeper first? Does it work on the Infinity?

It should work, it made a backup copy of "su" on mine.
I've rooted .22 TW firmware after data wipe using the method from Debugfs thread, so no problems there.

Hey there,

sadly the update doesn't seem to work for me. I checked for new updates, downloaded it and tried to install but the Infinity restarted after a while saying the update failed. When I check for updates now it tells me there aren't any available.

Could this be because I rooted the TF700T before?

I'm having the same problem as well.

Missed your post. Root shouldn't change anything with OTA. These things happen however. If you can afford a fctory reset try one and see what happens. If it doesn't help call ASUS or do the update manually from recovery mode (which means another data wipe; you might want to try the first options now).

Resetting the device doesn't help either. Strange. Guess I'll have to wait for the next update. :(

Since the WW-version of the update is not downloadable yet I can't try to install it from recovery mode.

Factory reset doesn't mean reboot. Factory reset = data & cache WIPE.

Oh, I see. I'm sorry it didn't help then. You can try flashing TW firmware from microSD and then re-flash it after some time when WW is out. I'm using the TW version, I've experienced a slight boost in performance which may be due to data wipe itself, but as to the changes - it only has a built-in Chinese keyboard, which of course is not used when you enter your locale at first boot. Apart from that, I don't see any major differences, and TW may get OTA updates faster I believe.

So I have to temporary un-root the device, factory reset it and then apply the update. I will give it a try.

I'm not quite sure if that's the only way, but you may certainly try it that way. Voodoo OTA RootKeeper is supposed to store the backup 'su' on /system partition so you should be good to go after the data wipe + update etc.

Well I performed a full wipe several times from recovery mode and didn't lose the root, for some kind of reason.
Nevertheless the OTA still won't appear. I think I'll just wait a few days. Maybe Asus will provide the WW update on their website for manual install.

Unrooting would mean performing an uninstall in the busybox app, uninstalling busybox itself along with the superuser app and removing the su binary (as root, after remounting /system rw) from either /system/bin/ or /system/xbin/ (RootKeeper will store a copy somewhere in /system). I am not sure which of these would be needed, as it's not clear whether rooting prevents OTA in any way.

These are the steps I did in order for me to get the OTA update going after it failed:

1) Used Rootkeeper
2) Didn't find update
3) Removed Root completely
4) Rebooted into recovery
5) Wiped everything
6) Booted up and ran DebugFS
7) Ran update again
8) Found update, but failed again
9) Hit my head a couple of times on the desk for forgetting the important step >.<
10) Performed step 1 to 6 again
11) Ran Rootkeeper and temp disabled root
12) Ran update which completed this time
13) And enabled root.

So with me all I needed was to temporally disable root with RootKeeper.

Off course you can just remove root completely and reboot and try OTA update again. I'm not sure what kind of check the OTA update does :S

It's interesting to know that it apparently does check for it in some way. Hopefully we'll get to know more when more users report the problem.
Thanks for sharing experience with your struggles with OTA :) I'm sure it will help many users doing some tweaking here.

After having rooted before, I had already installed OTA Rootkeeper and backed up everything. I didn't receive a spontaneous request to upgrade .21 to .22, but when I checked today, the firmware update was available.I temp-unrooted witk RK.

While downloading it (on the go, on the train to work), it hung on 99%. I decided to reboot and try again. Now the pop-up did actually come, said there was an upgrade available, and that the file had been downloaded. I clicked "OK" when asked to ugrade, and it started to verify the file. No error came up, and it started to install. However, I was confronted with an Andy having open-heart surgery ;) -- no-go. Luckily, after hard reboot, my dear TF700 (I love it, with all its faults and quirks :) ) booted up again and restored the previous configuration (thanks, ASUS).

I do not know if the mobile download has screwed up, or that somehow something (whether an installed app or so) screwed this up. I just wanted to let you know that even when it does screw up, you're probably going to be thrown back to the previous state and wouldn't lose anything.

Might save you from the first stages of either cardiac arrhythmias and/or clinical depression. :D

The Tenth update for the Infinity is out 29/05 Version 10.6.1.14.8-20130514 4.2.1 :good: (Versions can be downloaded from the link)

    Release Notes to follow

Direct Link for Download (link now live)

    http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_Infinity_TF700T/#support

    ****************

To Install the download file follow bellow.

Unzip the initial file you have downloaded. It will unzip into another .zip file actually.
Now copy that zip file to a microsd card's root, and insert the card into your tablet.
You will see a notification icon in the taskbar that there is an update detected, click that notification and it will update your tablet

    *****************

    Alternative Firmware update Method

    1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
    2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
    3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
    4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
    5. Insert it into the tablet
    6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
    7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
    8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
    9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so
    10. Enjoy!

Also remember that you will probably need to use RootKeeper to regain root privileges and reinstall BusyBox too (firmware update changes the /system partition).

    Thankyou to d14b0ll0s

Right, I tried this and discussed it further with d14b0ll0s. I just couldn't get it to work.
I already have the .22 CN version pre-installed. I tried WW, US and TW but none would work. Once I enter recovery it just can't find the update files.
It's irritating me that I can't use any of the Google apps including the Play Store, and the rest of the apps I have are mostly in Chinese.

If anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

    Hello ...

download the update file (TW or WW or whatever you want) from the ASUS download page.
You have to decompress the ZIP File. Then you have the actual update ZIP file (TW_epad-user-9.4.5.22.zip or WW_epad-user-9.4.5.22.zip).
You have to rename the File to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip" (Important: write big!) and copy the File to the root of a FAT32 formated microSD Card and insert the same into your Tab.
Now, reboot into recovery and the update install will begin without any verification of Software Version. After the update, your Data and Programms are still there.
I had installed the WW Version on a TW and it runs perfect.

I hope i understand your problem correct and could help you ... and sorry for my bad English.

    Greetings Andy

Is it just me wondering this, or why are they releasing a firmware update that updates Google apps?

Isn't that what the Play Store is for?

The only thing I'm looking forward to is getting Jelly Bean eventually :)

Agreed. I wish it didn't include G+ at all really. No intentions of using it.

You can however disable built-in apps!
    - go to control-panel/apps
    - select all
    - uninstall any updates for the app you hate/want to remove
    - now that app is clean/original you can click "disable"

App should now not be listed anymore and playstore will no longer search for updates on it (or atleast should not).
