I just read the announcement here:
After a mysterious “soak test” was opened up to a select few Motorola Xoom WiFi owners, we were left scratching our heads on what Motorola could have planned. Well, an email to Droid-Life this evening has detailed exactly what to expect from this test, as build number IMM76 begins its official rollout any day now. The Android 4.0.4 update is said to include quicker screen rotation (seriously, that’s a huge Android pet peeve of mine), new screen lock setting, camera improvements and the usual bug fixes.

Here’s the email currently being sent out:

Android 4.04 (IMM76) Software Update for the Motorola XOOM™ WIFI users in the US
Introduction

We are pleased to announce a new software update for the Motorola XOOM™ WIFI in the US. This Android 4.04 (IMM76) software update by Motorola includes numerous enhancements. Upgrade today for peak performance.

Who Can Use This Release
ALL Motorola XOOM -- US WIFI users

After downloading and installing the software release, you will notice:

Enhancements:

Quicker screen rotation
A new setting to choose whether the power button immediately locks the device or not
Microsoft Exchange improvements with additional EAS policies
Better phone number recognition
Camera and image quality improvements
Improved stability
-----

I know it’s a little early to expect a broader rollout, but perhaps it’s already trickled down to a few Xoom users? Anyone out there getting prompted for anything yet?

I have to wait for Tiamat then :)

I cannot to update.

When I was trying to install it from the usb stick, it appeared the following message:

verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_space(10408888)
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.

Can somebody help me? I'm a noob.

Regards.

I'm getting the same error with a stock Wifi Xoom running IML77.

My error explains a bit more. Sounds like an issue with the asserts.

assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "wingray" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "wingray"

And I definitely have a Wifi Xoom that's stock ICS, so I don't get why the asserts fail.

I got that message using a custom recovery for what it's worth.

But.. You're not supposed to use a custom recovery with this image... You have to be stock, right?

Not looking to spam here, but did you guys try the USB Drive method?

One of my friends used the same method to update his XOOM to ICS. He pinged me on IM sometime ago, saying the method worked for this update as well. Not sure, but you guys can always try.

isnt assert(apply_patch_space(x)); checking for available space in cache?

not sure how it could be low though...

---------- Post added at 07:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 PM ----------

even clearing cache before trying to patch doesn't help :(

I'm half tempted to try editing this line in the updater-script

assert(apply_patch_space(10408888));

to something else lower to see if it works but don't want to screw up my Xoom :p

anyone any thoughts or managed to get it working yet?

Maybe I should just wait for the OTA or a CWM-compatible version. I can't find an OTG cable anywhere nearby.

    OTA File here: http://goo-inside.me/devs/solarnz/otas/0d062b3bcbc7.signed-tervigon-IMM76-from-IML77.0d062b3b.zip

Flash using your normal recovery (stock / custom) on top of STOCK ICS 4.0.3

This is for wingray devices ONLY.

Just got the rolled out ota update after clearing Google services framework data and restarting. Non rooted stock yo.

Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

    No joy here. Maybe coincident

Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium

Its no coincidence. It just worked for me. Instructions:

    1. Clear Data from Google Services Framework Data
    2. (Some Google Applications might crash)
    3. Go to Software updates (note that time has reset to 1969)
    4. Click Check for updates
    5. It will show 4.0.4 and click download and Voila!

    Yep thats the one

    I simply applied

    Build HWI69 for US Retail

    with

    adb reboot bootloader

    fastboot flash system system.img
    fastboot flash boot boot.img
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
    fastboot erase cache
    fastboot erase userdata
    fastboot oem lock

then let it update its self to 4.0.3

    then

    adb reboot bootloader

    fastboot oem unlock

    then

    adb reboot bootloader

    fastboot flash recovery rogue-recovery.img
    fastboot reboot

    adb reboot recovery

you may need to go into recovery your self to stop it being wiped on boot
