Which version of Xprivacylua is specially for Android 8 ? I used Xprivacylua 1.27 with Edxposed on MIUI V9.6.10.0.ODGCNFD stable android 8 having restart problem when open xprivacylua manager . Tested on MIUI 11 Android 10 was ok.

There is only one XPrivacyLua version. Your problem is most likely being caused by Xposed. Please see the opening post about where to get support on Xposed.

I'm having this weird issue with XPrivacyLua and any hosts based adblocker. It seems like when I have both of them, it triggers the play store and causes it to hide apps like Netflix and Super Mario Run. For now I've removed XPL. If any logs are needed I'll gladly give. Thank you for your time.

It is unlikely that this is caused by XPrivacyLua in combination with an ad blocker.

You've probably restricted Google play services and store, thus your device failed safety net.

But I am passing Safetynet. Just enabling XPL causes this issue.

I thought so too. Maybe it's something else. Is there maybe a way to prevent XPL from hooking into the Play Store without Edxposed blacklist?

My apologies. I've disabled all of my other Xposed Modules and Netflix is back again. This is really weird but I think I'm one step closer. Thank you for your time.

It was the Twitter adblock module. I've removed it for now. I'm kind of bummed that I can't run all of my modules without any screw ups.

SystemProperties.get/custom and SystemProperties.get.default/custom can help. They're both in the XPL repo. You'll want to have "net.hostname" in the properties blacklist. See the hooks' doc string for more details.
Disclaimer: I wrote these hooks.

Hey guys, i installed xprivaly lua yesterday through riru Edxposed (magisk) and i'm still not sure exactly how it works (yeah i'm a noob, sorry, lol)
Should i just resrrict everything for every app?! Or i have to select certain permissions to avoid problems?
And how to make sure it actually works??
BTW i'm using adaway too, and aiming for maximum privacy
I would appreciate any tips ?

Pretty much best bet is to restrict everything by default and if you have problems, search the problem and disable that particular one.

Like Gmail will not work without account name. If you use Chromecast, you have to uncheck Get Applications or it won't connect or see it.. things like that.

Good luck and smart move cause apps steal our info and most people seem to not care ,?

That's what i did, i blocked everything and now my phone doesn't read the sim card, all google services and apps stopped working, lol

For now i just blocked trackers, analytics and location, will test more restrictions later...

So true people don't even care, one time i talked to my freind about this whole privacy issue and he was like, mehh, Whatever...!
But, well, he doesn't even know the difference between a normal tab and incognito tab, so yea...

It sounds like you have blocked/restricted permission access to Google system apps in XPL? That's never a good idea imo. I have the google app itself restricted with all but two options and no problems but I would never do that with system apps.

XPL is best when only used to limit downloaded user apps if you're not an absolute expert

Empty App List

first I want to thank you for this great App, I already bought the Pro Version.

I set up a new Phone and did some XPrivacy Settings successfully. After a few days I did a reboot and after that XPrivacy just shows an empty list of apps (user apps). When I switch filter to "show all apps" is just shows about 15 system apps (before there where over 100).

When I tried to catch a log (adb logcat) for more information I noticed, that the following log entries repeat in Milliseconds. (These log entries repeat endless, although there is no App open):

I don't see anything unusual in the provided logging.

Mostly your problem is caused by too many open files, which finds its cause in (Ed)Xposed and having too many apps installed.

Thanks for your quick reply. My app list shows 48 installed apps including preinstalled apps (excluding system apps). I guess this is not so much. XPrivacyLua and AFWall are the only Modules in EdXPosed. As I said before during these log catch there where no app running (except background apps).

What about these log entries isn't this unusual ("package ... not found"):

    XPrivacyLua is pretty feature complete and will be maintained and supported and when there is a need new hook definitions will be added to better protect your privacy. For the rest this FAQ applies:

    XPrivacyLua is supported with Xposed only. There is no support for VirtualXposed and TaiChi.

    I have just released beta version 0.5 in the Xposed repository.

    The XPrivacyLua framework and user interface seems to be stable enough to call this a beta release.

    Besides several bug fixes and improvements two new restrictions were added:
    • Read account name, which mostly holds your e-mail address and will be replace by 'privacy@private.com' when restricted
    • Read clipboard, which will be replaced by the text 'Private' when restricted

    Furthermore the ability to restrict Android system (be careful!) and to restrict system apps was added. It is possible to restrict all of these individually (XPrivacy could not do that).

    Be sure to take a look at the help page in the app again (use the ?-icon), since there were some useful hints added.

    If you appreciate what I am building here, please let me know by means of an XDA thanks and/or a donation, so that I don't get the feeling 'What am I doing this for?'.

    I have just released alpha version 0.12 in the Xposed repository.

    This version has been redesigned for Android Oreo compatibility. The user interface and the restrictions work properly for me, but be aware that a lot has been changed on the inside ("it is bigger on the inside", lol), also for earlier Android versions. There is one thing I know of that needs improving and that is that the user interface might be updated too often with a lot of restrictions, which might cause delays and hangs. I will look into this tomorrow.

    This change was necessary, but it was a lot of work, so XDA thanks and donations are appreciated.

    @CHEF-KOCH You have been given enough time to respond here. Now I just think it is pretty cowardly to write critical about XPrivacyLua, but not to tell what can actually be improved, especially because you were invited to do so.

    I still like to hear how XPrivacyLua can be improved, but I don't want to hear what is wrong with XPrivacyLua. You'll need to keep the scope of XPrivacyLua in mind (in short: privacy, not security), see the opening post and previous discussions about this for more information.

    Also, if you really know better, I like to see an original work from your hands to prove that. Actions speak louder than words.

    As it is now, you are discouraging one of the few people in the world who really did something substantial to improve privacy on Android. And don't go talking about VPNs, TOR, etc because your private information, like your contacts, will still leak.

    I also think you are pretty ungrateful for what I did so far.
