I upgraded from 4.2.9.1 to 4.2.11.1 and now I'm stuck on the G1 boot screen. I previously has the DarkStar theme installed. Any help on how I can try to restart my phone or do something to get me back in control?

I seem to recall someone thinking it had to do with the way the phone deals with the cell data connection and wifi. I have been using the APN tool to shut off 3g/EDGE/GPRS while Im on wifi and haven't had the dropping off problems. Other apps that need the data connection seem to work better as well. Text messages still come through, haven't tried MMS yet.

I'll give that a try and see if it makes any difference. I'm starting to think it's just t-mo giving me ****ty service. I had forgot that about 2 days prior to this I was sent a text message from T-Mobile telling me a new tower was being put up in my area so expect better service. Ironic, isn't it?

I have had the problem off and on ever since I got the G1. Started off using Hi MSN and people started to tell me I had crappy internet service cause I was always signing on and off. Got Meebo and the problem went away for a month or 2. Then it started happening to Meebo and I went back to Hi MSN and enjoyed a solid connection for a few more months. It went crappy and I went to e-buddy. Now Im back on Hi MSN. Each time I switched I noticed that a lot of people were complaining about connection issues in the comments. I do think it has something to do with the phone. This was never a problem on my Dash.

It could be that the phone is killing the app in the background due to low memory as well.

YEah, add me to the list having bad 3g connectivity. I've noticed this the last few updates. I don't think it's tmobiles network because my girlfriend on a stock cliq gets good 3g reception whenever mine kicks over to edge or gprs in some cases. What it feels like to me is that possibly something changed in the rom that effects the signal strength of 3g connections or bumps us off 3g altogether with instability of the handshake.

Was the European 3g performance boost hack added to Cyanogen Mods somewhere along the way?

D/MediaPlayer( 667): Couldn't open file on client side, trying server side

E/MediaPlayer( 667): Unable to to create media player

I tried fix_permissions

My phone is acting crazy

Ever since I updated to the latest CM rom, my phone is acting possessed or something. Everything is super slow. I got lag lag lag. When I press or tap a app it takes forever for it to do anything. Even when I use the keyboard, i got lag. I have never seen this before in my several months of using CM's rom. Its like this is someone esle's phone or something. After making a phone call, the phone lags bigtime. When scrolling contacts it seems as if the phone is in pain just to do that. I have done fix permissions, cleared Dalvic (sic), I dont know what else to do besides go back to an earlier release or wipe.

Mine is super slow also. I'm gonna try and reflash the rom and see if that helps, if not I'll just go back to an older version.

cm updater

I have a lot of issues on my g1 with the last updates... Right know I have cyanogenmod 4.2.11.1 but I think that now I'm going to 4.2.9... but there is something weird, in the cm-updater right now appears updates of 4.2.9 and lower, what happened?

Well, my issues are:

- the phone sometimes get soooooo slow!!!
- in the gtalk there is a problem with the notification bar when you clicked the first time I get a forced close and in the second works well... and sometimes the chats are errased!
- sometimes I have problems for install apps

It is the ROM. I have confirmed by flashing back to stock and also to "TheOfficial DONUT TMO US/EU, ADP & AOSP (dream/32B) [12/22/09] -- v2.4.2" on both my G1's. The problem went away completely. Been testing all day.

I agree as well. I get significantly better 3G connectivity in 4.2.5 compared to the latest versions

Installed 4.2.11.1 could not get any data connection at all to set up the phone. The 3G symbol was there but the arrows were not flashing. Bypassed all the initial gmail set up and still no go on the data connection. Went back to 4.2.9.1 and all is well.

I also got a few force closes with the brief navigation I did before going back to 4.2.9.1

No complaints here at all just offering feedback...thanks for all the kick ass work man!

Yep dolphin does give u that option:

While in a page in dolphin press menu then settings, scroll down and click on "Agent User" actually it gives u three options: Android, Desktop and Iphone :)

Don't see it anywhere under the settings for the browser. There is a "web settings" option that's not selectable under the category "advanced settings". I'm running CM 4.2.11.1.

Anyone else might know if there's a way to change the view in the browser from mobile web to desktop???

you will need to flash a Dark star theme that is 4.2.11.1 compatible or you can find another theme like the CHM binary that is already compatible i.e. CM-42101_CHM_BinaryRelease+AdvLaunch_WithLock. best of luck

Well this is a conundrum now isn't it? It's weird because i had been using 4.2.9 when it started happening to me. A few wipes and flashes of various roms and still an issue so that's why I thought it not to be the rom. On the other hand, all the roms I tried were variations of Cyan's so who knows. As we speak, I have 3g and have for a little bit, but every now and then it switches to the E without me physically moving anywhere so no signal blockage or anything. Something to keep an eye on.

Aw... The flashlight app bug hasn't been resolved yet :( ... Everything else seems fine though. Will continue to use 4.2.5 until this is resolved. Good work though Cyan.

Interesting... I live in Europe, and have had no 3G problems whatsoever. The T-mobile network in the Netherlands actually has very good 3G reception. Is the problem America specific?

    Now that the dust has settled, it's time for a new CM build..

    This is a heavily modified version of AOSP 1.6 without the proprietary bits (which will back up your proprietary bits and restore them after installing the ROM). In order to get up and running the first time, you'll need to follow some simple instructions. A great set of documentation has been put together by the community at the CyanogenMod Wiki. Everything you need to know is there!

    But first..

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */

    The Android devices we own come with many files that can't be redistributed legally, and as you all probably know, I can no longer include these with my ROMs. So, in order to get up and running, you'll need a compatible device with a compatible ROM.

    Installation Guide @ CyanogenMod Wiki:: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Main_Page#How_do_I_upgrade_to_the_latest_CyanogenMod.3F

    IF HTC Touch Input Force Closes: install file below =)

    * Based on Android 1.6, many bugfixes and enhancements from AOSP, XDA, and me
    * Custom art and wallpapers from Prash
    * Highly optimized kernel with many extra modules
    * Enhanced ramdisk which uses optimal mount options and smart startup
    * Includes E2FSProgs for checking and converting Ext filesystems

    * Launcher with 5 screens and auto-orientation and compact drawer layout
    * 360 degree auto-orientation thanks to Optedoblivion
    * Clean filesystem shutdown at poweroff/reboot, and fsck at boot (no FS corruption!)

    Glad to hear you got it going ...... now drink a beer or sparkling water ..whatever your fancy

    That makes sense to me. But its a paid app so I don't think the author would post the apk on his site. But anyway, its just a Task manager. I can always use another one. Just that Advanced Task Manager worked best.

    But 4.2.3.1 worked beautifully except for that one app and for the fact that after installing 2-3 apps, I have to restart phone or I get the 'Installation Error' problem.
    You could wait for an update. My market let me install some of the protected apps I lost when I wiped my ext3 when there were updates (before that the buttons for open and uninstall were greyed out).

    ...A.K.A HTC "Recovery images"

    Guys I know there are new links up and live, but I thought I might add a few more for convenience and diversity (uploaded to RS).
    I know the ADP one works for sure and is rooted.
    The Dream one is the one that's been floating around, and is also available here
