Support for new devices
If a feature of kernel tuner isn't working on you device and you know that your kernel supports it send me following information and I will do my best to add it
  • Use option in kernel tuner to dump a log on SD card
  • List off all frequency steps for GPU
  • sys fs entries(paths) and available options for changing it(for example 0 for off, 1 for on)
  • Code name for your device(eg. shooter is for evo 3d)

Recommended settings for HTC Evo 3D users(and basically all msm8x60 users)

CPU: 384-1512Mhz, Ondemand, Xondemand Governor(Lagfree if you don care about battery)
Voltage: -50mV,-75mV - (385Mhz-740mV, 1512Mhz-1125mV)
GPU: 2D: 266Mhz, 3D: 320Mhz
Idle Frequency: 486Mhz - lower frequencies can cause lag when unlocking
Screen-Off Frequency: 384Mhz
Buttons Backlight: As low as possible(for battery save) - 3%
Fastcharge: ON
Vsync: ON - (There is no use of setting it off, you will only get higher benchmark scores, nothing else, and it will drain more battery)
Scheduler: noop, row, deadline(personally noop but some say row is best)
SD Card Cache size: 2048-4096

Anyone got an increase in performance? How does this MOD affect battery life? I'm assuming it increases battery drain as both cores are enabled permanently.

Would the on-demand scheme not suffice? I mean the system kicks in the 2nd core if the load gets high right? So what is the point in force-enabling them?

I am noob and therefore please don't flame me. I just want to know if there is a difference.

that's right, battery drain will increase

two reasons:
first, by forcing both cores online you get a permanent increase in performance, as opposed to increased performance on high cpu load. Because the second cpu only kicks in after the first one has processed a certain load, you will most likely get lag in case of a sudden increase in cpu load

second, and this is a common problem in custom kernels/governors, the second core tends to go in a deep sleep, which means it won't wake up at all. This mostly happens when you set minfreq to 192MHz, which is why most people set their minfreq to 384MHz

i had activated in v5 the 2 cores but most persons didnt like it,(I did), so i had to deactivate...you gave now a good oportunity to those that want it!

can you add a feature to only enable the second cpu if the screen is on and when the screen is off the second cpu turns off? that would be nice ;)

Maybe a " game mode " thing, lets say, you start " Temple Run " and app autostart and work while game is runing and then if game exits, app turn off :) or similar

That's not how the Android API works ;)
it would require you to constantly monitor your processes to see if the game is running, which takes cpu power and will decrease game performance and drain your battery

I was using the database editor to get the tether option and I'm pretty sure when scrolling through it and some place I saw the CPU and cpu1, not sure of the options though?..

Too bad about the auto feature, that's 1 reason I'm waiting for I c s.

Thank you for answering. But I have more questions. :D

I like this game "Temple Run" and when I play and reach around 600k score it starts to lag and sometimes the lag ends my journey :(

Will it prevent that lag from happening? Is it even a cpu related issue?

My cpu min freq is 384MHz 2nd core turns on on high load.

    Support for new devices
    If a feature of kernel tuner isn't working on you device and you know that your kernel supports it send me following information and I will do my best to add it
    • Use option in kernel tuner to dump a log on SD card
    • List off all frequency steps for GPU
    • sys fs entries(paths) and available options for changing it(for example 0 for off, 1 for on)
    • Code name for your device(eg. shooter is for evo 3d)

    Recommended settings for HTC Evo 3D users(and basically all msm8x60 users)

    CPU: 384-1512Mhz, Ondemand, Xondemand Governor(Lagfree if you don care about battery)
    Voltage: -50mV,-75mV - (385Mhz-740mV, 1512Mhz-1125mV)
    GPU: 2D: 266Mhz, 3D: 320Mhz
    Idle Frequency: 486Mhz - lower frequencies can cause lag when unlocking
    Screen-Off Frequency: 384Mhz
    Buttons Backlight: As low as possible(for battery save) - 3%
    Fastcharge: ON
    Vsync: ON - (There is no use of setting it off, you will only get higher benchmark scores, nothing else, and it will drain more battery)
    Scheduler: noop, row, deadline(personally noop but some say row is best)
    SD Card Cache size: 2048-4096
