Hi Wackym. Congrats and thank you very much for all your efforts. You have given a new life to our tablets.
I am using your roms on an Easypad 970, and I am wondering what can I do with it's little brother (Easypad 1370). They are the same in most aspects - same CPU, same batteries, same RAM, less flash memory, 1 camera only, but most importanly the screen is resistive unfortunately and this is the big problem, even though the resolution is the same.
I tried your ROM and although everything was working and showing fine, unfortunately the touch screen was unusable (perhaps as expected).

I wonder is there a way to modify your rom for a resistive screen, since the manufacturer hasn't released any ICS yet, and I cannot find a similar Chinese OEM to get the ICS from?
Or perhaps does anyone know to which Chinese OEM tablet does this compare to, so I can search for their ICS version?

i successfully flash this firmware, but upon reaching the setup page... i have no touch response... the tablet doesn't register any touch response

help~

Flased twice.. clicked restore...
everything show succesfull, able to boot. until the select language, i cant touch on start....
1 thing i notice is that, the lower bar of ICS is gone.. the bar where u can press back, home, recent etc... it's not there...

but it appear when i long press power button...

I think this rom is not suitable for backward? Cos probably my firmware is newer? I use v1.08 bokorez and it alright now.

add into permission folder the gps file, and facebook appears.... :)

For those looking to increase market apps do a google serch for "ICS and getting those missing market apps". There is an xda thread that refrences the kindel fire. You can follow the same premis of adding the feature names to the u9gt2. I used es file explorer to edit etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml . Even though the cube does not have all of these features just by adding them, many more apps showed up in my market and I have had no problem with running any of them yet. I also edited my build.prop to reflect that of a Xoom's. Hope this helps.

Damn! I can't edit etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml with ES file explorer. It says: "Error occurred when trying to save the file".

Could it be because U9GT2 is not rooted?

I use the mod from Troilele: Visture V2 4.0.3 20120208, pre-rooted by Troelie (he says it's pre-rooted) how do I check whether my device is ROOTed or not?

Sislo7 to be able to change these files you have to mount the directory as read/write. In order to do this after you open file explorer go to settings. Look for Root Explorer and make sure that it is selected then make sure that you also have Mount File System selected, it will ask for super user to approve. after you should be able to make the changes and save them. Hope this helps you. You must also do this to be able to edit and save your build.prop file.

The problem lies in kernel. It's set up for capacitive screen. I'm still looking for a fresh kernel source from RockChip... So, for now, I can help you :(

Hmm...then it's definitely a hardware problem. If you're a skilled cell phone or tablet repairman or you know one then you could try to fix it...but bear in mind that will void your warranty... So best bet would be to send it back and request a new one.

Auto-rotate issue Solved!!!

Good news for Soul7777

After I have tried 9 different Mods of Cube FW (1.08 by wackym also). And all of them had the auto-rotate issue which occurred randomly. More info: #356 and #382

The only mod that doesn't have the auto-rotate issue is the mod from Troelie
Visture V2 4.0.3 20120208, pre-rooted by Troelie <---Link
but it's very annoying that it has only 512 MB of 'internal memory', not much space for apps.

I've been using this mod for 12 days, and it didn't occurred not even once!! :D and then after I installed the latest mod 1.08 even tried the one by wackym, it started all over again :confused:

Hope Wackym will try to address this issue.

Update: Auto-rotate issue in Wackym's mod 1.08 v1 was due to the switch was OFF. It automatically turned off while I was typing text... that's odd.

Good stuff from Wackym once again!!!

Tried the 1.08 modded release. It's good as stated in the change logs. However, the dictionary problem still persists. The default Android keyboard still does recognise English words and they are underlined in red. I could fix this manually by installing the ICS keyboard and it would come with the dictionary.

In the next release, might be good to include Google Play instead of Market. :)

@wackym.... Hey does unpacking usually take a long time? I have to admit I'm using my wimpy laptop (linux mint 11), but its been saying "checking md5sum" for around a half hour. I just want to know if its stuck.

Also, I had to change rkimg.sh to #!/bin/bash to get it to work. It would give me a function error otherwise.

Thanks for the tutorial, I'm going to dig into this thing, probably make a git repo out of this info if possible.

    - added videochat libraries (might fix videochat issues)
    - fixed RW permissions for external SD, usb flash
    - added permissions to enable more market apps (thanks Reichi!)

    - newer base files from CUBE


    Notes, bugs:
    If you're still running Android 2.3 and thinking about switching to latest (ICS) version then you should be aware of these (major) changes/bugs cube introduced in ICS:
    - application screen size is reduced - bottom status bar is visible most of the time (but also hides in ICS aware apps)
    - you need to disable USB debug mode to be able to access filesystem on U9GT2
    -MTP/PTP is slow and unstable -> but now mass storage is back!
    - Bluetooth still doesn't work (unchecked for 1.08)
    - Video chat doesn't work (unchecked for 1.08)

    This is wishful thinking :) That's all I can say... I sincerely hope that M$ doesn't make the same mistake that google did - use virtualized software for UI.

    Wackym, I see a note for 1.07 (I think) that says this is fixed, but it doesn't seem to be. Can you, or someone confirm that this is still an issue?
    I found another thread with a link to just latinIME.apk (no Google in the name) that will temporarily fix it if installed, but the fix disappears after a reboot.
    Can anyone else confirm the same?

    I simply need an re-compiled ASIX.ko file for the latest kernel and a way to enable the Ethernet on the latest ICS Settings section.

    You could try the insulation trick...to prevent charger tip touching the housing...for me this got fixed by itself with 1.07 mod...but I don't know why.

    You're welcome.

    I used RK29xxImageTools kindly provided by wendal: www[dot]slatedroid[dot]com/topic/19808-rk29xx-imagetools-v21/ (sorry about the bad url - still few posts short to write proper urls...forum rules)

    Steps:
    1. Downloaded U9GT2 v4.0.3 20111229.img, gapps-ics-20111125-2 (google apps for ICS from cyanogenmod), Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed, file expert apk
    2. Unpacked img with rk image tools
    3. Started virtual machine with ubuntu, mounted system.img as EXT3 loop device
    4. Removed su from /xbin
    5. Removed angry birds etc. from /app, also removed all libs from those apks in /lib folder. I did this to gain necessary space for google apps without resizing the actual img.
    6. Added/replaced google apps apks
    7. Removed provision.apk which conflicted with SetupWizzard
    8. Added Superuser.apk to /app
    9. Copied proper su to /bin; added proper file permissions (rws-rx-rx) - this is very important for root to work.
    10. Edited /build.prop: added "ro.config.hw_hasbootsound=false" to silence the boot sound (which was terribly annoying me :D) and changed wpa supplicant scan interval from 15 to 180s (this probably saves some battery but annoys people with bad signals...but you can change the scan interval "post mortem" with ROM Toolbox...see "build.prop tweaks").
    10. unmounted system.img
    11. Used "pack" option in rkimagetools

    I think this covers it all...

    This is important for all who downloaded my 1.07 mod created on 2012-02-19 (see install.txt if unsure).
    You don't need to download 1.07 mod v2. There's a (simple) fix for root issue.
    1. Turn on "USB Debugging" in Settings->Developer options
    2. Connect the device via appropriate usb cable to PC, directly. Do not use hubs or extension cables!
    3. Start up command prompt (cmd) and navigate to adb.exe (provided with mod)
    4. Run "adb devices". Adb will start a server and if all is correctly connected and proper adb drivers are installed you will see this:

    If you don't see any devices then follow step 5 else skip to step 6.
    5. Go to Device Manager and make sure your device got detected and ADB drivers are properly installed. If you see "Android Composite ADB Interface" then there's a problem with connection...try different usb port or different cable. If you see unrecognized CUBE device (with a question mark) then right click on it and select to update drivers then point to drivers in ADB\Drivers folder. Go to step 4.
    6. Run "adb remount". This will mount system partition as read&write.
    7. Run "adb shell". You will be transferred to android shell on the device:
