You can. It wont hurt anything. Be really careful and follow the instructions to the letter. more than one person has ruined a brand new phone by making a mistake with Odin.

Omg ... Maybe i will wait then ...

And the version of odin that they proposed seems out of date, i find a new one on other website where they propose also this method of root ... I don't want to do any mistake ... :D

And if i do it, i will do it when i have free time like tmr afternoon.

Thanks a lot for your help, i keep you updated when i will try this method with odin.

i find here the same kind of method but with a newer version of odin ... :/

Anyone gone through and successfully deleted bloatware yet? If so please list method. Using a root delete app doesn't seem to stick.

Attached are 2 screen shots of the apps I've frozen. Been about 24 hours and no issues so far. What else have you guys found?

I tried to send a PM to @djrbliss but he has it disabled.

CASUAL handles Windows, Linux, and Mac in a single Java JAR. you can open it up and go into the /SCRIPTS/ folder then open the SCR to see your code rewritten in CASUAL format.

The benefeit of CASUAL scripting is that it performs troubleshooting for the user

Anyway, i always rewrite in CASUAL format because its more useful to have a single file that works on all platforms rather than a zip file that has differences for each.

Still Confused

I did a factory reset from the boot menu after rooting and the Settings fails to load after intial startup. There is another thread that has the AT&T firmware available for download. Is there anything I can do to just get past the startup menus? If not, and I'm still waiting on the "bootloader" how long will it be till we have one(Based on history). I saw someone post that it could take up to a month, and in that case, I'll just file an insurance claim. Sorry if this has been stated many times but the seperate posts are confusing. Like I said, even if there isn't a way to start from fresh, does anyone know if it is possible to fix the settings issue that I'm having?

Thanks for the hard worked on getting this rooted so quickly. Successfully rooted on Sprint last night. Does anyone have the hotspot working with this? Tried TreveMod and could not get that working and although I have seen methods for other carriers I have not seen any on Sprint. TIA.

Ask mcbc3po. He seems to have an edge for this petty adjustments.

I've tried all Device-profiles on WiFi tether TreveMod, but it only seems to work with no log errors on the S3 settings and setup-method to auto. For some reason the wireless network doesn't show up on my laptops network. I'm using FoxFi (WiFi Tether w/o Root) 2.12 with USB tether for now(the wifi tether crashes the app). I had to Googled FoxFi apk 2.12 and had to download it to get it because the android market didn't have it on there.

To get unlimited data you must buy the key from the market which is offered.

Message me for the website to download free version if needed.

Thanks for the info I have the Foxfi setup, but like you mentioned the wifi portion doesn't work. I am trying to get it setup so I can use it with my xoom. No luck for now I guess. Thanks.

A recent root exploit I published for Motorola devices, Motochopper, should do the trick for rooting the Qualcomm-based variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4, including the AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile branded models.

    Download the exploit here:
    http://vulnfactory.org/public/motochopper.zip

    Instructions:

    1. Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
    2. If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers available for your phone.
    3. Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
    4. Connect your device to your PC via USB.
    5. If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
    6. Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device.

    Warning:
At this point, since there are no custom recoveries or stock images available, it may not be possible to repair your device should you accidentally break it. Please be aware of this before performing any modifications to your phone.

As always, future OTA updates may remove the ability to regain root access, so proceed with caution when updating. Enjoy!

debugging is on, installed usb drivers and im on Win7 64bit.

Device manager shows ADB driver installation too...

Sorry about that, just needed to update the version of ADB I was including. It should work fine now. Try downloading a fresh copy from the same link and trying again.

I've updated the instructions to mention that you will need to approve the ADB connection from your PC on the device.

Although I love that this was found...part of me feels it should be in the other dev section...as this method isnt exactpy "original" its a methid for a different phone that just so happens to work...just my .02

Anyways as I already stated edtremly greatful...nice to have root again

Its more original than anything else that will be in this forum. djrbliss is the originating other of the exploit, and the person that located the vulnerability used.
